For those interested in the background lore of the first chapter, it's important to know that "Journey to the West" is an ancient novel with many retellings and different versions. The version I’m familiar with and believe the game is based on is as follows: Long ago, there was a monk named Jinchi (Golden Baby Jinchi). Jinchi was so pure and blessed that he lived to be 270 years old. He had many disciples, including Guang Mou, Guang Zhi, and the Black Wind King. When Sun Wukong and his group stopped at Jinchi's temple to rest, Jinchi saw the golden robe of Shangtang (Wukong's master) and wanted it for himself. Jinchi believed that Shangtang was unworthy of such a treasure and that only someone as pure-hearted as himself deserved it. Jinchi devised a plan to get the robe. He invited Shangtang to stay the night and offered him food in exchange for borrowing the golden robe so he could "inspect it more closely." While Shangtang was asleep, Guang Mo suggested killing Shangtang to keep the robe, while Guang Zhi proposed burning down the building where Shangtang was staying. Wukong, who was already suspicious of Jinchi, heard the conversation and took the Fireproof Mantle to protect his master. At the same time, he set fire to Jinchi's temple, burning it to the ground. As Jinchi and his disciples were busy trying to put out the fire, the Black Wind King stole the golden robe and hid it in his cave. He later repented, embarked on a path of enlightenment, and sought to make amends. The next morning, Jinchi, overwhelmed with shame for his actions, committed suicide. Jinchi's ghost became the Wandering Wight (giant blue dude), unable to move on due to his shameful death. Guang Mo, who had suggested killing Shangtang, turned to a life of wickedness and mastered the art of poison. Guang Zhi, who had suggested burning the temple, tried to repent but was haunted by his past, which is why he now wields fire polearms. The Black Wind King, feeling guilty for his role in the events, decided to rebuild the temple and restore the Buddhist scriptures, hoping to atone for his sins and wait for the one who burned down the temple.
Good job on writing this much, but from what I can tell, Jinchi isn't that Wandering Wight specifically, he's a boss you can find after ringing all three bells

1:32:30 the ending animation. I think it is more than greedy. It is about we human like/need external stuff to symbolize something in order to proof our own identity. The robe/kasaya has become an external symbol for the monks, the higher your ranking or status, a more gorgeous robe/kasaya you will wear. But originally, the robe/kasaya is a symbol for monks to shows their humble and enlightenment to Buddhism. So, Jingchi is too arrogant and obsessed to superior status amongst the monks. Like many people wear Rolex not for knowing the time, but to show-off. But a Rolex could be also good for your to memorize your success, or to motivate yourself.

I don't think you know Mikey but this story is a parallel to when Satan went against God. Satan being Wukong and the mention of "freedom," like how he made Adam and Eve sin. Him departing from the "Celestials" was Satan departing from God. A lot of the content we play now not all but a lot have parallels like this. Letting you know so you see the enemy working even in our games.

The titles were given when he had favor with Buddha (hence the fighting Buddha) and had wreacked havoc across heaven for a few times I think.
