This was a great conversation, thank you. It's always nice to see Papa Gwynne on here as well.
Julie's insight was incredible. I've personally submitted to her a couple of times and have received great feedback and comments.
Hope you're both well, and have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

This was a fantastic video, I loved hearing all of the behind the scenes tidbits! It was a fascinating conversation. Julie is crearly ruthless... but I love it 😂 Julie seems like such a wonderful person!

I love this sort of conversation because I am fascinated by the process of working with an editor (and a really great agent functions as an editor too). The creative interplay as an editor makes suggestions to the author often results in some compelling choices for the story. A great example that came up here is killing off a beloved character. It’s painful, but does it make the story more compelling? In this case, I think the answer is yes. My thanks to all, and especially to Julie Crisp, for the insights and the excellent discussion!

Thanks for the great thoughts Philip! Completely agree with you. I could listen to Julie talk about publishing all day. Having someone in your corner is imperative. Truth and courage!

God bless you for Maquin Julie😂 as much as Kastells death hurt me at the time. Maquin is my favourite character in any fantasy book. As far as his death is concerned though
It was perfect for him. He couldn’t have gone on after all he went through and lost. The way he went out was awesome and meeting Kastel on the bridge of swords was amazing.

Thank you so much for this conversation! I'm a writer with dreams of publishing and Julie was so insightful, so helpful, so wonderful to hear from. Learning more about the process and celebrating how great art is a collaborative effort is such a gift.
