Please get a wind in tool, can be had for £15 - £20, one slip with long nosed pliers and that's your rubber piston seal gone! Little job becomes a big job. 😥
Just changed front and rear pads on my 2015 Civic. This was a real help thanks but must advise that really you need a break calliper screw press for the rears. Twisting with pliers didn’t work for me and definitely needed the force against the piston alongside the screwing back. Save yourself the stress and purchase one before trying . Rears also we’re much trickier taking off and on the callipers. Fronts were a piece of cake.
Good video ,,small comment if you leave the old pad in against the pistons,, just use a metal ( C ) CLAMP YOU JUST SCREWS INWARD, THEN IT WILL COLLAPSE IT.. DONE
Thanks for taking the time to make and upload this, just about to do this on my car which is exact same year and model so Hopefully there will be no surprises waiting for me.
Just did my rear brakes outside in the dark! Great video thank you. caliper was very difficult to put back on.1 tip for putting the caliper back on. Loosen up the 2 bolts holding a brake hose on with 10mm socket. I had to use a 1/4 in socket and extension to reach it! That allowed me get iit just over the new pads
Superb, just been quoted £400 for rear discs and pads for the rears, using Honda parts and Arnold Clark labour. Discs are fine, EuroCarparts are doing rear pads for £24.47 ! Hopefully sort it as well as you have. Love the chill hop music BTW.
The uneven wear on the rears can be due to lazy caliper or oxidation of the caliper where the pins pass through, the oxidation is between the rubber guide and the caliper itself, this then pinches the pin, it's worth removing the rubber guide and removing the oxidation else your new pads will end up the same. Notwithstanding that it might be the caliper itself.
You are spot on, I bought new slider kits from Autodoc at £3 a per, they come with two new slider pins, the rubber grommets and correct grease. Once you cut the old grommets out, get a round file and move all of the oxidisation away. Grommets are a bit fiddly to get in but with plenty of grease not too bad a job. Honda wanted £77 for an individual slider pin?????? WOW!!! £6 for both sides for all from Autodoc.
Thanks you're the man it's hard to find exact videos of the same car you going to work on. Trying to stop the annoying squeaky noise from brakes could be my clip scraping the disks
Hi i finally got my MK9 (Belgium), great car!!! Question; is it possible to see mpg and how many miles (km) to empy tank at the same time on the display? Thanx
Thanks for the good video! This was useful set for cleaning Civic's stuck rear brake. It's btw good hint to mention releasing hand-brake to allow detaching the rear brake caliber, I initially made exactly that mistake and wondered how the caliber can be stuck so firmly :-D
No just remove the brake fluid reservoir cap and push the piston back in . The fluid will push back into the reservoir.change the pads pump the brakes and jobs done .
The cjrshop if you mean I should twist the other way, i tried and that only pulls the piston further out. If that's not what you mean, please educate me.
It pulls out but doesn't go back in all the way. I used long nose pliers at first, thought that was the problem. I went and bought the tool and still no joy. 😢 I think the caliper needs to be replaced. Ahhh.
does anyones civic brake click because theres some wiggle room in the rotor? my pads slide and make clicking sound when going reverse to drive and vise versa. when i got the akibono pads for my front set, they were also sliding up and down. anyone have this issue? i have 2015 lx. i heard ex and si brakes are bigger. is this true? lets go civic community 🛶
Thank you sir, I was concerned about pushing the piston back in the rear but needle noses worked for me! Thanks again 😁

Thank you for posting this video. It's quite hard to find a UK spec Honda video on UA-cam. Good to know the right size Allen key needed as well 👋
what about lubricating the brake pad ears and the pin bolts? it's important.
Dont you need to undo the brake fluid cap?

Those antirattle springs are a pain in the arse!!!

How do you adjust handbreak? I replace my break pads and now the handbreak is a bit loose.
?? Main things you cutt out of the video 😅😅😅😅! Someone did it for you??
Great job!
Thanks
On the rear can you tell me how you remove the caliper with the handbrake on it?
Mine did not work....😔
Would you be able to show where the oil drain plug is and the oil filter. New to the DIY jobs on my own car
Thanks for taking the time to make and upload this, just about to do this on my car which is exact same year and model so Hopefully there will be no surprises waiting for me.
Seemed nice and straight forward there. I have to do my berlingo van soon. I bet it wont go as easy as that, ;-)
Phill Wildman might be lucky , but experience with French stuff , sticking , breaking, rounding and rusting lol
Thank you for your time and advice , helped a lot, easy to follow . Stay well stay safe

Thanks for showing me how to change break pads on my Honda Civic. Good job.
Very well put together video. Found it very helpful as i did my pads today. Do you perhaps know how to adjust the handbrake?

My 2015 Civic does not have wires supporting the caliper. But it has 2 V shape thin wires(springs) to push the brake pads outward.
Just done my front pads and only cost me £32 and an hour of my time. I will tackle the rear breaks later on in the month. Thank you for your tutorial.
Question Why would you pump the brakes unless you didn’t show the other side when if you change the brakes when finish all 4 then you pump brakes

What song is that playing? It’s the same one Jim from White Details uses a lot. Like it a lot.

You have to hold the I button until the mileage flashes then you can go through the menu.
Hi there is no clips on the caliper’s is it normal on this model ?
You got a deal from Honda on their pads! Honda wanted to charge me £315 for fronts only... Told them where to stick that!
Just did my pads and discs today and that spring/ clip too me longer to install than doing the rest of the job... 😡🤣
3:25 did they already make noise?
Very detailed video, thank you
Great video!

Fuzzy video
Did you have to bleed the rear brakes for the piston to retract?
No just remove the brake fluid reservoir cap and push the piston back in . The fluid will push back into the reservoir.change the pads pump the brakes and jobs done .
The cjrshop I have been winding down the piston and it's not moving. I have opened the reservoir too.
Reverse thread on them

Hi. Do you know if its easy to change the rear discs aswell? How would you take them off?
Thanks

It’s either subframe click which is common or if you have a lip on the brake disc the pad will knock against the disc lip.
@@johndavies4644 I think it was just my pads were a tab bit smaller.
I changed to a new oem set and they don't click anymore.
Hi, thanks for the video ! Can you help me giving more information about the tool you use at 2:50 ? Thanks !!
François I’m using a 3/8 flexi head ratchet with a 7mm Allen head socket .
Hexagonal or square head ?
