I think Mgla has one of those unique stuff not all bands can get. It is not speed, neither technique, but it catches around what darkness, existencialism and most philosophy of the past, and this century wants to transmit.
To me this is neo or post black metal. It sounds much more modern then the old medieval sounding norwegian/swedish bands did. And it's fitting the lyrics primarily deal with nihilism a more modern dark world view then the old christian inspired satanism thing.. I hadn't listened to black metal in nearly 15 years till I discovered these guys. Something dangerously addicting about their sound.
Maybe not the most genuine (since they are 3rd or 4th generation) but definitely incredible. Check out first 3 records by Rotting Christ and 2 first of Dissection too for some more melodic BM esrgasms
@@mjarsel Hey Pal. I forget to tell You about "Over the Voids" (Mgła members). Btw. Polish Black Metal is a few guys playing many bands. 🤗We are small Country 😉
MGLA is fucking amazing, but can we take a second to acknowledge how much the filming of this and the stage lends to the darkness of this video? seriously some of the best concert filming ever.
Automatic chills when they play, and I think that says more about how deep their music is than I ever will. Just one of those bands where every member is solid and knows how to serve a song and not their egos.
Usually I need music with more variety than what most extreme metal bands offer but something about these guys sound is dangerously addicting I can't get enough.
@@NadineReuterswardI grew up listening to Emperor and the lesser bands of that era and found them all to be fairly boring. Emperor, was the only one that stuck with me as they were a sort of progressive opera symphonic mix with black metal. However, later bands like these guys and my personal favorite Leviathan are orders of magnitude better than any of those old 90's bands were. Just being pure black metal, I am now a huge fan of the genre.
Yeah, most of the black metal bands are playing the same old standard ordinary boring music with no bite. There are a few standout bands like mgla that continue to push the boundaries of extreme music.
easily one of the greatest modern black metal bands who effortlessly create timeless art with unparalleled ease. the kind of music you want to keep replaying albums until you truly get it, that's the kind of brilliance that Zentara and Co bring to the table. right up there in the pantheon easily despite their arguably "simplisitic" arrangements, still worth q quintillion more than any mainstream music artist circa 2024.
I ain't no hardcore Black Metal fan, but my friend recommended me this band and I am totally blown away. This is probably the best BM band I've ever heard - technically, lyrics, the overall vibe. I do not know why, but their music has strange calming effect on me.
Same here. I borderline hate BM, but Mgla... so genuine, so pure. Only a handful of BM bands captivate this inexplicable feeling. May I suggest you to check out another unique BM project, Gaerea?
I usually don't listen to black metal. But I have randomly bought tickets to the concert a few years ago without hearing the band and It was one of the best concerts I have experienced. That energy, that cymbals, that emotion, that chills.
I saw them live in boat concert venvue that year as a birthday gift from my best friend. I left my first mosh pit ever a different man. They literally rocked the boat that night! Love & peace from Paris 🤞🏼💜 EDIT: going to see them with my bestie again end of May, it's gonna be epic, I'm dying to see Age of Excuse tracks live, hope they play VI, but I'd be happy just to be there for their older stuff too 🔥
j'ai découvert Mgla en live à Lyon en 1° partie de Behemoth. J'avais pris une belle claque, vraiment un groupe que je ne ma lasse jamais d'écouter. Merci pour le partage de ce live.
Like someone else in the comments - this aesthetic is so simple yet so engrossing and weirdly unique because when you see other bands doing it you just know they are taking Mgla's style.
Mgla and Uada are on top of them all at the moment in my opinion, they have truly created a mix of BM and DSBM and honed in sharp, with a good sound and gripping cords.
