It was with that song and that part that I got impressed by the band, EIF V was when I really stopped what I was doing and put all my attention on the song. Darkside is a fucking beast!

The drumming on Exercises in Futility V is just fucking unreal - even more so than on the studio version! \m/
Age of Excuse II is a masterpiece, lyrically and musically
Yeah Age of Excuse III too. It's quite deep and sophisticated commentary on gnosticism if you're familiar with history of revolutions/slave revolts (and it's a big middle finger to a certain type of people). Also the first four lines of AOE I reveals a good philosophical grasp of nihilism and transcendental argument: "A species had been armed with a double edged blade / A guardless weapon of delusion / Forged of a mirage of inherent transcendence / In the tangled mechanisms of life itself". It's refreshing to have intelligent and meaningful lyrics.
@@George-hl4fu Slaves are the real oppressors. So deep and sophisticated. Definitely not some shit that a greasy 10th grader would believe. AOE II is incredible but I hate the lyrics on AOE III. It's a head-nod to fascists.
@@ppnats I think he means the usage of the word "Ersatz" in the lines of Ersatz Revolt and Ersatz Rebellion. Ersatz is the german word for 'replacement'. Due to the word being german it has to do something with nazis. (Thats sarcasm btw)

Mgla could be one of the few bands which have better sounds in concerts than actual studio recorded ones. Just listened Futility V and drum parts feel faster WHAT THE HELL DARKSIDE?!

@@bloodykrystina ah I see. I think sometimes Mgła's lyrics are awkwardly worded due to English not being their first language. I think it is somehow referring to the zeitgeist (common spirit of the time) having a stench, as in being dirty and degenerating I guess?
@Pierre Dessein It has nothing to do with the fact that their native tongue isn't english. In fact, their vocabulary is an example of top notch knowledge of english language.

Jon Saunders I would also love to see Mgla here in the states but realistically and it’s nothing against the band love them but they still have a bit more to climb up the ladder before financing for such an expensive endeavor can happen as while yes they have been around for a while and have a respectable sized following they are still somewhat an up and coming band

man for a drummer who seems to be such a virtuoso you'd think he would be able to just keep a steady tempo...

There are indeed moments when he drags, you can notice it in the blasts, but mostly towards the end of the show when fatigue sets in.
They also seem to play some songs at a faster tempo than studio.
Lastly, you need to take into account the conditions in which they play, fully covered, masked etc. I was at this show and while it might not look like it there was one hell of a heat.
Surely, playing these songs must be muscle memory for him at this point but all those extra factors add up and can affect his performance.
How funny would it be if they had doctor masks on over their masks.

You can mosh in thrash or death metal gigs, not in this particular black metal played by Mgla.
