I think you're pretty dead on the money. I think the Z Fold 6 aspect ratio is the more obvious choice for most of the market and I think prioritizing stuff like S-Pen support is probably more important to most people than the image sensor. Hopefully there's more of a marriage between the two over time as you stated, but I don't think anybody with the Fold 6 should be bummed out about not having the SE.
110%. I get that people want to have the end game foldable now, but from a business and financial sustainability point of view, it just won't make sense. A patient build towards it will ensure that when we get there, it's polished and refined and ready for the mass market.
Yes they should be bummed they got ripped off 😅 and if you believe that the z fold se isn't much better you are dumber than they are for buying the z fold 6
I agree 100%. For me I can walk onto a job, take photos and measurements of a room and right the measurements directly onto the picture very easily making job scaling, and quantifying materials soooo much easier. Given both phones at the same price I'd still prbly stick with the fold6 Original. The camera quality is already great for what I need I'm no influencer and the battery size as a work phone is phenomenal. You can do a video call while on dex and have 6 hours working hard screen time is absolutely crazy I can charge my watch and have full day heavy use or just using like a normal phone you can get a couple days out of it. Also everyone fears the broken inside screen yet the reality is you have 2 screens to break so if you drop it or squish it likely you still have a inside screen and if the inside breaks your basically back to a s22 minus the camera which is still a wicked phone. New front screens are become much cheaper 140 bucks on a zfold 4 and inside screen WITH hinge and frame (you swap your boards and batteries into the new one) for around 600 bucks you basically get a new phone for around 700 bucks you can completely rebuild your entire fold. The front screen is 1 ribbon cable, and inside screen is like a age18+ plus lego build difficulty with several screws and couple cables for batteries, cameras, speakers.
The risk? There was no risk. Google are actually a prime example of that, it was the easy choice, meanwhile Google actually ruined their foldables unique identity by following the crowd when it comes to the form factor. Samsung's fold has a unique look and form factor and they have stuck with it, that is to be commended. I personally prefer the Z Folds slim form factor and hope they don't change it too much.
@@vooligan9499 really I don't care if they're designed language is unique Google and OnePlus took the risk whether you accept it or not look into the market and stop blindfolding yourself I actually went with Google this year and bought and unlock pixel 9 Pro fold because they took the risk and design something that has a better cover display and I stand to my phone's whether you like it or not affordable should have a regular cover display and not force you to open it all the time unless you really want to put some content and do stuff on the big screen one you're at home and not out and about or it can get damaged so this should have been the Galaxy Z fold 6 now if you don't believe in numbers then that would be your problem but if you look at the sales charts every year Samsung's losing money and market share with foldables and I do commend them their damn software is better than any damn foldable device that exists in the market but if you think about it a foldable like this from Samsung everywhere and their software not even the Chinese competitors will be able to give Samsung a run for their money you may be a fan of the current form factor but do your research there's a lot of Samsung users who are tired of the same design they are offering at the ridiculous high price of having nothing new in the hardware in the same stupid recycled cameras
@NEILANIL1 Precisely, I agree with your comment if we narrow it down to the United States of America. Most Americans are starting to become like Apple Fans, they are complacent and whether they like what I'm going to say in my comment or not. They enjoy getting bent over by Samsung and suck the money out of their wallets as they are offered the same design language that has become boring and recycled when you have many foldables in the Chinese market that true may not have the Polish software from Samsung but definitely look better and right now the only obvious choice in the United States of America is Google and OnePlus who have the best hardware and learn to take the real risk. Now Google actually listens to what people want Samsung at. This point doesn't seem to care for what people are looking for in a foldable and releasing a special edition this late. It's like backstabbing one of their biggest markets the United States in the back.
@vooligan9499 the risk? What do you mean by the risk? Because obviously you're part of The Crown that likes to get bend over by Samsung and the money suck that on your wallet. I'm a Samsung user who has been with the company. And my first phone was a flip phone with a keyboard at the age Of 16, which my mother bought me and honestly, at this point, Samsung mayhave the best software in the industry. When it comes to foldables, but have you ever asked yourself? How long is there software going to save them? When you got Chinese companies making foldables that are innovative, then pack flagship style cameras. And bigger batteries and even offer you 50W on wireless charging, something. Samsung refuses to do Google and one plus took the risk Of course, google might have followed on their footsteps, but they actually listened to the critics of their first photo ball from those who actually used the phone and purchased it Samsung. At this point, it seems to not give a d*** Because our head is stuck deep up their a** And since there's not enough competition in the United States, most Samsung users are becoming like apple users, complacent and accept. The stupidities samsung offers them on their foldables
When you trade your Fold 3 in and pay the difference out of pocket for the Fold 6, you can write it off as a work device on your taxes. You'll get all your money back when tax season comes around. You can get the newest phones at no cost to you.
@NoctisStrife88 defeats, what purpose? That is the question I really don't care about S Pen capabilities. Do I use mine often? Yes, but do I care about it? No, if I'm gonna be offered the same design language and I'm going to be treated like an apple fan. I got oneplus and and google, who are making better foldables with better hardware and a special edition should have been the phone released from the beginning, not now
Well, good for you, if you wanna stick with the same design language, keep giving your money of Samsung with baby. Step upgrades and their phones getting more expensive, and they're hardware with no significant changes. Then that's up to you. But the special edition of the Z Fold 6 Makes more sense even without s. Pen capabilities, because that's the fold. That should have been introduce from the beginning. And in my opinion, Samsung has become boring in their design language. And even though their hardware is unmatched by nobody That's not saving them. In the market, as every year, they sell less foldable, then they have predicted to sell, and that's because they're getting pushed by the chinese market, who's tin foldables, offer flagship style cameras and a cover display that makes more sense, and it's not narrow and uncomfortable to type in
@jesuscervantesj82 ill stick with Samsung until they deliver what I want. I don't care about Chinese market phones. They're customer service and repairs are horrible. And I never get any phone when it comes out. I got my zfold3 for 400usd. The fold se is dumb asf. It's missing functionality. End of story. And just cuz you don't use the pen doesn't mean nobody else does. I could give 2fuks about what you like
@NoctisStrife88 Look if I triggered your Fanboy status, oh, well, you can do whatever you want buddy. Go ahead and defend Samsung and stick with the company as a fanboy and keep dreaming. They're going to deliver. Whatever you want soon. I started my folding Journey with the Galaxy Z fold 3, and I upgraded to the Galaxy Z fold four and I skip the Galaxy Z Fold 5 to get the Z Fold. 6 and people have been asking sense, the Z Fold4 major changes to the dam foldable, and all they gave us was stupid. Baby step refinements, a 50 megapixel camera. They have recycled ever since, and they haven't even pushed the envelope. Of innovation, when they're the pioneers who set the footprint for innovation and all they're doing is giving the apple treatment. You want to stick with them? Is your problem? But don't come over and attack somebody for giving their honest opinion because go ahead and keep throwing your money at them. As they offer you very little and if you have no understanding why the z fold six special edition exists, then stop criticizing people in the stupid way you criticized me that phone exists because Samsung went from 80%. It's market share in the foldable sector all the way to 50, and look at their software is the best in the business. And yet they only own 50% of the market. Open your eyes, buddy. Their hardware has become so stale and stupid. Steady, we're gonna sit down and dream on that. They're going to deliver something anytime soon. I doubt it the way our stupid market is. In the United States, where we only have 2 others, which is Google and OnePlus, will make foldable. You think Samsung's gonna deliver anytime soon? What you want? This is a g****** sixth generation foldable, and there isn't many changes to last year's. And on pre-order opening, it sold less than a Z Fold 5. So do whatever you want, but there is a lot of people out there. That got tired of the same old stupid device that hasn't offered Innovation In the hardware, and they're just jacking up the prices, not giving a fuck whether you approve what they're doing or not
The bigger size is nice. The 200mp camera is nice, but seeing as I shoot exclusively between 12mp & 50mp on my S24 ultra, is no big deal. No built-in S-pen was bad enough, but no S-pen at all is a deal breaker.
@@Player-re9mo I'm a power user of the S pen. The problem with the external pen on the Zfold6 is that it's rudimentary and doesn't do air actions. A built-in one like on the s24u would circumvent that. Yes, it would be a little bigger but clever design would keep that minimal. The bigger size could also allow the addition of the important 50mp periscope telephoto (115mm)...
Thanks for your detailed discussion about this issue. I love Samsung, all my devices are Samsung devices but i am being REALLY tired of Samsung narrow phones. I presently still use the Samsung Note 8 ( Yes Note 8 - 7 years old), it is 75mm wide and at times i miss buttons on the screen so i have made it my reference width. Anything lower than 75mm width is to narrow. I have decided i would wait for the Oneplus open 2 and i would stay within the Samsung ecosystem with my tablets
Losing spen support would make me pass on the SE. That's one of my main reasons I waited til the 3rd Fold to get one. I'm now on the 6 and plan to happily upgrade to the 7 as long as they don't take the s pen away
@5:10 Them putting the 200mp in a folding phone will not hurt sales of the S2x Ultra line-up. Very different target audience and price points. But I hate the Fold SE lost the S-Pen and now has an even smaller battery with increased price (again). Others have been able to make them thinner with bigger batteries, better charing speeds, and still support Pens. And I still would buy the Z Fold 6 over this SE. Samsung went on record saying they do not plan to make less expensive foldables.
The Fold & Ultra have a small crossover in target consumer. That small crossover would choose the Fold over the Ultra if the Fold had the same camera system and inbuilt S Pen. Samsung is keeping it separate to preserve the Ultra sales. It's a business decision.
As I write on my HONOR V3 which is thinner than the SE, has a larger battery & I can use my "Spen" on inner & outer screens I think maybe SE actually stands for Sucker Edition?
The only thing I'd want Samsung to take and make part of the regular Fold from the SE is the better camera. Nothing else is particularly appealing aside from thinner and lighter aspects, but the sacrifices made for that aren't worth it, IMO. Even the SE camera, as is, doesn't make a lot of sense. The telaphoto should offer more zoom, IMO. I'd prefer if Samsung made the cover display S pen capable, instead of removing S pen support entirely. The Fold 6 size and aspect ratios are good for me. If they keep these the same but reduce bezels and hinge size while packing in more battery capacity, I'd be happy. I think eventually we'll have tri-folding devices. Then, a wider cover screen would make sense. 16:9 is still the dominant aspect ratio for most modern video and other content. Wider cover displays on bi-folds mean larger black bars with 16:9, but for tri-fold it could mean the opposite.
Hi! I hope you can assist me. I’m looking for the best way to safely store passwords and manage autofill on the S24 Ultra. Are Google Pass and Samsung Pass secure options? I’d love to hear your recommendations!
I totally agree. Give them the Research & Technical advance time they need with the SG-ZF:6 SE. 🤞 hope it does well... So in 2025 the SG-ZF:7 can be what the majority of US market fans want. It's a win win for us if they improve on the SE version since most of us basically just want two Galaxy S24 Ultra's folded together anyway 🤷🏻♂️
Have to disagree. The Fold 6 is a £1800/$2000 "flagship' phone that has awful cameras, a ridiculously narrow front screen and a crease that's visable from space. Bringing out the Fold 6 FE a few months later....... With better all round features........ is a complete piss take.
I have the Fold 6 and will have to disagree with you when you say they're "awful." They're not the best, but they're actually quite good! I also like the narrow / smaller front screen. It's comfortable in the hand for me. That said, I understand your argument and agree with everything else.
Why are people like you who do not even own the z fold 6 speak about the phone ? The z fold 6 is perfect. The narrow screen is literally what I like the most about it. The crease isn't noticeable while using the phone and I think it's more robust this way.
Samsung has no idea what its customers want is a very wrong statement. They know exactly what people want, but since there is a lack of competition, they choose to keep providing the same phone. The reason people buy Samsung is because we want something different than an iPhone but is up to par. Samsung is now just like apple in regards to giving its customers the exact same phone every year. Samsung and apple are complaciente.
Yes bro..Samsung not take any customer ideas on what they want on Samsung Fold phone..Z Fold 6 ia the most smaller outer display than the others brand..Vivo,Huawei,Oppo,Google, & Xiaomi has bigger outer display, but Samsung released Z fold 6 became the smallest outer display..
@@grandmaster720 that could be because they offer what people want. That's why I own a Z Fold rather than a Pixel or 1+. If "the people" want a wider/thinner foldable, they'd buy a Pixel or 1+.
@@mustakimkamaruzaman4396 I prefer the slimmer outer display, as do many other Z Fold owners. If you want a bigger/thinner foldable, buy one of those other devices.
I switched to the Fold 5 from the Galaxy S23 Ultra and one of the main arguments for doing so was the greater comfort of use with my relatively small hands. I have rarely used the keyboard for years and I usually dictate most of the text. The screen size in the SE version is dangerously close to the size of the S23/24 Ultra.
Giving up the digitizer is no big deal for me...until we get the embedded SPen...digitizer and SPen should be the Fold Ultra while the no digitizer is the regular Fold...
The reason I need flat crease on Fold is because I used SPen for brush function too often. Now they give flat crease but take back SPen. After 7 gen, we still get big compromise. I can't wait when samsung will announce Fold 7 with 4,400 mah battery capacity.
@@kirby21-xz4rx for context, I'm currently using Fold 5. Fold 6's crease is flatter and I'm fine with that. With the SE is even better, my point is why need to compromise the SPen usability. Both compliment each other.
@daimhafizy In order for them to make the crease dissappear they use thinner glass in that area. So because they made the phone thinner, with bigger camera sensors and what not, while also making some of the glass thinner, they had to remove the s pen integration since there's no room. I completely agree with you though, and I don't think this is a worthy compromise.
The special edition is not a global release. There is a reason Samsung haven't reduced their global fold offerings thickness to drastic levels, they want to maintain S Pen support. You can bet that the next Fold SE (or whatever it gets called) will have s pen support
I think you are one of very few who reviews fold 6 (Samsung fold in general) on UA-cam or anywhere else that has the fold form factor nail down. I understand different people want different things, and Samsung folds have many complaints. I won't go in details like you, but there are many reasons why Samsung folds are in its own form factor. Personally, I like the form factor of Fold 6. It works for me. It's pretty simple. If the Fold 6 is not for you, get the one that fits you. Fold 6 is not perfect, just like any other devices out there. This is only my opinion, and I think overall Fold 6 has it for many people. Thanks for your review. I enjoyed it.
Thank you. I'm a long-time fold user, and I've seen the progression over the years and where Samsung is taking it. Thanks for understanding it and I appreciate the comment 🙏
i love the fold 6. i was going to stay with the 5. which was my first folding phone. as i like the narrow one handed use. but was a pain to use sometimes. the 6 fixed that. i would love 5x zoom. don't need 200 meg camera. would be nice but do not need. but i want that new snapdragon chip next year. i still hope they make the cover a little wider again
No s-pen compatibility is (or would be if available!) a deal breaker for me. Bigger size is a direction I like for the same reason - more space to draw/write on. Less fussed about the camera upgrade which was already fine (fold 6 provides great record pictures good enough for photogrammetry) and thinness seems to matter more to the reviewers' bubble than to actual users. I'd rather a cheaper and more robust device than them trying to squeeze in improvements that don't offer much value. Was the crease really that big a deal?
You can't talk sense on here 😅😅 I agree with you. The beauty of the Fold 6 now is that it's balanced well. It has the important features like S Pen support. There seems to be an obsession with thinner devices. I agree it's nice, but when things like S Pen support get sacrificed, I'm not as into it lol
@@techwithbenefits Exactly that and there's a user base that values what an all rounder it is. It gives me a mobile office that let's me gather and use all sorts of data from videos, pictures, audio notes, sketches, office docs and useful AI to develop ideas on the fly. I'm not looking for a folding sliver of a fashion statement, especially if I can't trust it's robustness.
I'm not sure, but I think Samsung values hardware reliability more than any other manufacturer. The Fold SE will probably be a bit experimental in terms of hardware. They probably didn't want to take that risk worldwide. I'm just thinking out loud.
If I am investing a significant amount of money in a foldable phone, I would reasonably expect the primary camera to be of comparable quality to the ones found in the Galaxy S Ultra series
I love the narrow fronf screen i lt enables me to mispell all my texts, also i cant viee content properly its truly amazing, i totally agree wirh you . Fantastic review . I hope they narrow the fold 7 screen to sell more units , keep the great work up
People are complaining about the missing s pen calling it a dealbreaker, but I'm assuming that most people are not in China or Korea, so it doesn't matter. Wait for the next global release of the fold before complaining. Then, you have a valid point. Either they include the s pen, or they add another variant like the SE without it.
Fan Edition is a phone that Samsung fans can access for an affordable price. Features Samsung fans like in a cheaper package. Special Edition is a limited offering. A unique version of something.
The folds are okay, but I just stick with the ultras like the S24 Ultra. I think I will skipp the S25 Ultra and wait till the S26 version. I really never saw the need for a "tablet" type phone when I have a tablet.
The Fold 6 SE is still not wide enough. It should be square when opened, so you don't have to rotate for landscape. They could keep the height the same as on the Fold 6. The big problem w/ the Fold SE is that they dropped the pen screen. I won't buy it w/o the pen screen.
Am I the only one that likes the narrow form factor of the Samsung foldables? It makes so much more sense, almost like 2 different phones for different situations. One for single hand operation and one for more complex tasks in the unfolded mode. I truly hope they not gonna change it with the fold 7.
questionable decision makers at samsung headquarter. for a while i noticed stagnant progress in samsung phones in design and tech. the company should be run by engineers with vision and not clueless, greedy managers.
They need to put the spen support on both displays and a silo built in, in a device like that if they want it to be appealing to its primary user base. Why they mess up with other primary things en route on doing one thing right. Get the basics and the philosophy right. Honor has done it, you can just keep the thickness same unlike Honor for the sake of spen to put an spen into it. ITS LITERAL GATEKEEPING
As a Fold 6 owner I feel cheated. Samsung really needs to step it up. The Fold 7 needs to look a lot like this and have the S-Pen built in. Or I just won't buy it!
I don't agree with the reason or playing it safe from a business standpoint. In the 2010's look at the innovation they went through. The S7 to the S9 was a big change.. now the Fold 6 isn't much different than the 3 or even the 2.
Contrary to what the "Fold apologists" say, the general population doesn't want smaller, narrow phones. That's why Apple abandoned the iPhone Mini and every other OEM keeps making phones with bigger and bigger screens. I don't think the Fold7 will have the SE form-factor as it's probably already designed but hopefully the Fold8 does - assuming SE success in South Korea/China.
Here's the biggest problem whether people agree or don't with my comment narrowing it down to the American markets in the United States. Most people or most Americans have gotten complacent and have become Apple Fans. It's not about adopting the unique and design language Samsung offers in their Hardware is about understanding that Samsung's Hardware has become like apple. Yes, they have the best software integration. But how long is that going to save them when you have Chinese foldables pushing the boundaries of innovation and you also have OnePlus and Google who I consider the best foldables in the United States and Google took a bit or should I say a big risk designing their foldable from scratch? I stick to my point a foldable design to give you a tablet experience when you need it not force you to have it all the time as the cover screen is going to be your daily driver and having a narrow covered display in the same form factor sense the z-fold 3 has no excuse the special edition. Z-fold six should have been released either alongside the regular bolt 6 or should have been the ideal fold. Having S Pen functionality. It's something that really doesn't bother me. I'd rather take what they're offering on the special edition with the 200 megapixels sensor over the same stupid recycled camera, but I stick to my point most Americans have enjoyed getting treated like Apple Fans by Samsung and their design language in the hardware has become boring. I've been a 12-year-old Samsung user who started with their flip phones with keyboards. And right now Samsung has gotten so boring that nothing. They have released in the foldable space has gotten me exciting and that's the reason why I bought a pixel 9 Pro fold unlocked and I have used it as my daily driver because the cover screen makes more sense and my z-fold six is sitting in the Shelf till next year when I see what Samsung offers with the z fold 7 if their design language stays the same, then hello, Google Goodbye Samsung until they get there. Things together an offer the foldable everybody wants
Come on! Everyone wants a larger form factor. Samsung was only holding out because they were in a comfortable position. It is not fair to those who have bought the Fold 6.
Some interesting comments though still don't get not having a flagship rated phone given the cost of the device and don't see how this would have competed with there other flagship as most people looking at a fold would likely go another manufacturer instead rather than S24 etc, so reality is that aren't competing with there own device they are losing customers to other manufacturers. The wider form factor is more about how cramped it has been to type on the front display . 6 improves it but SE clearly way better. I do get the cost of upgrading manufacturing processes though can't help but feel they would have had to do it to some extent at least for the 6 anyway. SE was everything I was hoping to see for the 6 (outside of s pen loss) and I would have been happy to maintain bit more thinkness for that. But anyway
Samsung have shown they can do it, so i will keep my fold 4 until they perfect it. This was a cowardly move to release the fold 6 knowing they could have made it better.
People have been saying they want a regular phone size that folds open since the fold was introduced. This isn't a new thing. Samsung did this becuase they don't care about the worse experience the customers get when they release a better product a few months later. They knew content creators would carry the water for them and bend over backwards to try and justify this move.
Thinness is stupid. The Magic V3 throttles to the performance of an 8 Gen 2 (despite paying for an 8 Gen 3). I hope the SE is an utter failure and Samsung stays with their formula. Other companies make the thin/wide devices for those who want them. Options are good. Hegemony is bad.
The truth is America, Europe, Australia have all somewhat sold their cconsumers down the road!! The United States over the past 75 years has literally driven manufacturing to Asia!! This means American, Australian, European minds are still innovating and developing but once the concept is ready to create a test version it is then transferred to one of the countries where manufacturing is done and once that transfer of intellectual property and conceptual innovation happens means the product very rarely is created by an American, Australian or European company. Basically our countries have completely undermined their people. As someone that pays very close attention to trade, markets, and innovation it is absolutely git wrenching to see how stupidly the elected class in our countries have created a scenario where the citizensof the US, AU, EU no longer have first easy access to the latest and most innovative technology. As someone that owns an IT company and truly loves technology I have seen this setup coming for years!! It is very frustrating to not have easy access to these generational leaps in Technology. Honor, Huawei, Vivo, have all made Samsung, Google and Apple look foolish!! Apple has created The Identical phone for the past 7 years simply upgrading the processor and Camera Tech without even attempting do optimize Aesthetics or any changes for that matter. On top of that Apple's completely ignoring the fact that there are devices that are 3.3 mm thick when opened with a ltpo OLED display that's nearly 8 inches diagonal with camera Tech that nearly approaches some Flagship candy bar phones, while utilizing new Battery Technology that allows these devices to have larger batteries while being thinner and lighter and charging speeds that make apple Samsung and Google look truly second-rate . Samsung, Apple and Google are fully aware these companies are creating and designing products that when viewed by an American, Australian or european user they are going to realize Apple Samsung and Google have duped them!! The Samsung Z fold 6 with close to 4 year old camera technology, a strange display size on the external display while having far less battery capacity, slower battery charging times, add a device thickness that when compared looks 20 years old do the new tech!! Like I said I am someone that pays very close to technology and realizing that Apple Google and Samsung are fully aware that their North american, Australian and European users will most likely buy their products not because they're a better product but because they're the only products that are easily accessible to the local carriers.. walk into a verizon, T-Mobile or any of the carriers outside of Asia and consumers will be completely unaware these superior devices exist! I own Samsung phones, refrigerator, oven, washer, dryer, earbuds, watches, smart tags and that trend has now come to a screeching halt. Anyone that tries to convince me that a Samsung product is manufactured at a higher quality or try and provide some weird excuse to why Samsung has not only purposely created subpar products they are now creating a product that is somewhat better than the Z fold 6 but only releasing it the same markets the other Superior devices exist in!! Samsung once again knows most Samsung users will be oblivious to the existence of the z-fold SE . We all know there's a group of people that pay very close attention to technology wow the majority simply see TV ads and walk into mobile stores. Most average Tech users will gladly drop their thousands of dollars on Samsung, Google are Apple tech that they believe is top of the line. This is where Apple Samsung and Google are being devious in my opinion.. no reason to keep up with our competitors because most consumers don't realize our competitors far superior hardware exists? I understand Trade Practices, manufacturing, and the technology aspect of this and I can tell you there is a major shift that has happened over the past 5 years. Once again people can try and argue one way or the other claiming apple, Samsung and Google are creating products equal to or better than huawei, honor, vivo, etc however we all know that's not true. Looking at the Google pixel fold 9 and the camera Tech that's 4 years old as well as the giant hinge that hangs off the left hand side of it should be all everyone needs to look at to realize Something's Happened!! While we were impatiently waiting for the next s24 Ultra, or the pixel fold or for the new identical to the past 10 year model iPhone other countries we're laughing at us!!
Its simple. Samsung realized (saw the #'s) that the Chinese foldables are DECIMATING the foldable market i.e, SAMSUNG and so they wanted to see if releasing it...would cut in to Huawei/Vivo/Honour Magic's share. Period. Point. Blank.
Samsung is really left with no other choice since they are losing money and we have been asking for this for a couple of years. Now if they don't add that s pen there is gonna be another problem. If they play it safe again they are gonna lose more than if they took the chance in my opinion.
I have to disagree with the reasoning for Samsung ignoring North America. Honor, Vivo are creating "global" devices. So I can easily get an Honor magic V3, I can get a vivo xfold 3 pro and then let's not forget OnePlus (Oppo) completely destroying the fold six even with the open being much older.
Samsung needs to take a page out of Google playbook and make a different model fold. The S26 Ultra Fold. Legit give us 2 S26 Ultras when unfolded and 1 when folded with the flagship camera and all the bells and whistles. It would dominate the market. 😂
im so tired of hearing youtubers talk about "Ultra" when we're already looking at what is supposed to be a bleeding edge device worth thousands of dollars. Yeah man, if only they made a Fold Ultra and a Vision Pro Ultra...
The Ultra lineup is an extra segement of devices. It takes the bleeding edge and gives it the best of everything. The best cameras, display, battery etc. The S24 series (base model) is a bleeding edge piece of singular tech, but the S24 Ultra takes it up a level.
No Samsung are playing it cheap not safe. And that's why people have jumped ship this year. If the SE was brought out as the 6 I would have bought it. Customers have been asking for this for 6 years and Samsung didn't listen.
*some* customers have asked for it. Majority asked for S Pen, better cameras and less of a crease. Whilst the Fold 6 camera hardware could better, it still performs well. The Fold SE has no S Pen support and is also a lot wider. So it'll be interesting to see how that impacts the foldable experience. I really like the Fold 6 cover screen size and ratio.
I would like to buy one I thought it would be really cool to have one however my only fear is can you get it serviced here in the United States if you have a problem remember this is a first time product you can't look at this as all the rest of the Galaxy 6 because this one's a brand new one so we could have bugs it could have a problem with the screen you don't know what can happen can you get service here in the United States do you have to mail it all the way back to the person who sold it to you in Korea for them to send it and get repaired
I don't think so. I think it means that Samsung are being safe with their flagship devices. Not taking risks. They aren't fooling people. We know what the changes are, they don't oversell the upgrades. People have a choice to buy it or not.
As an admitted Sammy fanboy and long time fold user man...I was really looking forward to this one. but no 1tb version is bad ,using the same trash 3x zoom camera...well thats just dumb and ditching Spen support...really? Lol. Its a huge disappointment and yet another fail from samsung, the chinese device's still making samsung look years behind. Ill stick with my fold 6/ pixel 9 pro fold and add a vivo x fold 3 pro...a fold with a decent zoom Camera. Samsung really needs to start taking some risks and pushing the envelope, their poor sales numbers of the fold 6 pretty much demand it.
The lack of S Pen support was a casualty of the thinner design. The 3x camera, on paper isn't ideal, but in execution it does okay. A fold's camera is more than just the cameras themselves, but what the hinge can enable you to do. This phone isn't a mass market phone, the Fold SE is designed for a single market. They want to see the response and then make plans based off that.
We just forked a substantial amout of money to get the best foldable Samsung can offer in 2024 only for them to shortly after launch s new better one...
I think what you got from the Fold 6 is still Samsung's best foldable. S Pen support, narrower cover screen (better for one-handed usage), UDC. The Fold SE is a different version of it, but doesn't mean it's going to be better
Lmao samsung releasing a "true" foldable flagship after just several months is like a spit in the face to all people who bought fold 6. Like its the most bullshit thing to do. Imagine if apple would release iphone 16 pro max ultra or smth now. Oh you wanted to have a cool flagship phone nuh-uh that 2k bucks phone wasnt the one this one is so would you kindly give us another 2k bucks
You must have little fingers, when closed it's too small. They need to stay ahead of the competition. There are some nice foldable all of them are all bigger than samsung. Make 2 versions, then.
At last samsung have caught up with the competition this is what we've wanted for years a usable phone when folded like using a S24 Ultra then a decent unfolded screen 😀 BUT why didn't samsung increase the battery to a 5,000mah and why Is there NO S-Pen support why!!!!!!! Samsung let's hope this Z-Fold SE (Ultra) is released globally and when samsung releases the Z-Fold 7 its the same form factor as this SE BUT with the 5,000mah battery and at the very least With S-Pen support better still with a built-in S-Pen and the snapdragon elite chipset and 65W fast charge and bring back putting the charger in the box where it belongs!!!!
@@nikolagvozdenovic940 honestly once you pay 2000 euro for a phone, they can make it 2300 just as well if its perfect. I still had to pay additional 100 euro for the S-Pen case and 30 euro for Samsung anti-reflective screen cover and so on...
I think that those who've used a foldable in Samsung's current form have wanted a wider screen on the cover display, but not overly wide. The narrower screen is fundamental to one-handed use and part of the experience that I love personally. I do think there is room for 2 Fold's in Samsung's line up as long as one is more affordable. Fold and Fold Ultra will be perfect options
They used fan loyalty to get money and beat other manufacturers to the market with no regard for their consumers! I am trying to migrate away for the first time. They took advantage as they had a locked market. O.K. I will now spend money elsewhere.
I just bought the new Lenovo hybrid when they first we're going to launch it it was $2,050 everyone went nuts and said this is ridiculous so then they raise the price to $3,500 and they left it there for the whole time for till they launched it and then they gave a discount to $2,040 and guess what everyone's buying the hell out of it why because they feel like they're getting a discount right now they are only launching this in China because they have too many competition in China not to however this will be the Samsung Galaxy phone 7 coming out mark my words Samsung is not doing this to save money or to be careful they're doing this because this is how they get everybody to buy their next Generation by giving you just a little bit of time they have become literally Apple
They aren't like Apple. Samsung have tried a lot of form factors and continue to do so. The Fold SE is a test phone in a specific market. This also proves their capabilities in the foldable landscape. Everyone forgets the scale Samsung produce at. The other manufactuers don't have the production scale or global shipping network that Samsung do.
Great presentation! I like how you described what Samsung INTENDED the Fold to be how the Fold SE is a demonstration that Samsung CAN create a folding phone similar to the competitors despite it going against their original folding phone philosophy.
You can do a video call while on dex and have 6 hours working hard screen time is absolutely crazy
I can charge my watch and have full day heavy use or just using like a normal phone you can get a couple days out of it.
@@jasonelliot9633 heard no s pen support.....
No more excuses. The Fold SE should be the Fold 6. OnePlus and Google took the risk, why not Samsung.
I'm actually thinking of getting one plus next. I'll skip further Samsung phones. They are becoming apple like.
Still rocking the fold 3. Guess I'm keeping it another year
I only traded It in because Samsung offered a lot for it
When you trade your Fold 3 in and pay the difference out of pocket for the Fold 6, you can write it off as a work device on your taxes. You'll get all your money back when tax season comes around. You can get the newest phones at no cost to you.
I am not buying any Fold without the S Pen compatibility, simple as that.
Really defeats the purpose
And even though their hardware is unmatched by nobody
That's not saving them.
That got tired of the same old stupid device that hasn't offered
Innovation In the hardware, and they're just jacking up the prices, not giving a fuck whether you approve what they're doing or not
The bigger size is nice. The 200mp camera is nice, but seeing as I shoot exclusively between 12mp & 50mp on my S24 ultra, is no big deal. No built-in S-pen was bad enough, but no S-pen at all is a deal breaker.
its not just about those 200mp, the sensor itself is larger and better
It would be too thick with an spen inside. I hope they never give us a built-in spen.
@Player-re9mo Im a power user of the S pen. For me, the challenge with the external S pen, is that it doesn't do air actions...
@@Player-re9mo the phone is already big AF. Also they could just use a thinner Spen or a magnetically attached one just like the tablets
Wow...a full 1.5 mm less and a full 3 g less!!!
No SPen compatibility is a no go for me, period!
Should have had s pen function doesn't make sense that it doesn't
Thanks for your detailed discussion about this issue.
I love Samsung, all my devices are Samsung devices but i am being REALLY tired of Samsung narrow phones. I presently still use the Samsung Note 8 ( Yes Note 8 - 7 years old), it is 75mm wide and at times i miss buttons on the screen so i have made it my reference width. Anything lower than 75mm width is to narrow. I have decided i would wait for the Oneplus open 2 and i would stay within the Samsung ecosystem with my tablets
I have the fold 5. If there is no fold 7 ultra, I'll either keep this or look at other foldables. I'm not doing the narrow screen again.
I really hope they keep the under display camera. I like the immersion on apps like kindle, the browser and others.
No one cares about the s pen shut up
The Fold & Ultra have a small crossover in target consumer.
People here act like this device doesn't exist, when magic V3 is global already.
Agree completely.
If you want a re view unit sent in return for a promo, get in touch
I'm interested. Especially for a fellow toon army member
You don't know good stuff
Why are people like you who do not even own the z fold 6 speak about the phone ? The z fold 6 is perfect. The narrow screen is literally what I like the most about it. The crease isn't noticeable while using the phone and I think it's more robust this way.
@@08esco inthink about the same and i even think the fold 6 might be better buy than Fold 6 SE
Exactly 😅💯
Honestly, I'm glad it's not the Fold 6
Samsung has no idea what its customers want is a very wrong statement. They know exactly what people want, but since there is a lack of competition, they choose to keep providing the same phone. The reason people buy Samsung is because we want something different than an iPhone but is up to par. Samsung is now just like apple in regards to giving its customers the exact same phone every year. Samsung and apple are complaciente.
OnePlus and Google are alternatives in North America. Internationally there are tons of alternatives. What are you talking about?
@@nickthaskater top two phones every year Samsung and apple hands down, no ones really competing with Samsung except google really.
Its not even close to the ultras...I wish it was
If Samsung offers both foldable sizes, they could win the foldable market hands down.
Giving up the digitizer is no big deal for me...until we get the embedded SPen...digitizer and SPen should be the Fold Ultra while the no digitizer is the regular Fold...
I wanted it. I was excited for the SE even.. And then Samsung had to go and say no s pen support.. nope
The reason I need flat crease on Fold is because I used SPen for brush function too often. Now they give flat crease but take back SPen. After 7 gen, we still get big compromise. I can't wait when samsung will announce Fold 7 with 4,400 mah battery capacity.
That just isn't possible to get rid of the crease you can get closer to it not being noticed but it's impossible to remove it with today's tech 😅
@@kirby21-xz4rx for context, I'm currently using Fold 5. Fold 6's crease is flatter and I'm fine with that. With the SE is even better, my point is why need to compromise the SPen usability. Both compliment each other.
@@daimhafizy ok gotcha thanks for clarifying 👍
@daimhafizy In order for them to make the crease dissappear they use thinner glass in that area. So because they made the phone thinner, with bigger camera sensors and what not, while also making some of the glass thinner, they had to remove the s pen integration since there's no room. I completely agree with you though, and I don't think this is a worthy compromise.
The special edition is not a global release. There is a reason Samsung haven't reduced their global fold offerings thickness to drastic levels, they want to maintain S Pen support. You can bet that the next Fold SE (or whatever it gets called) will have s pen support
Excellent video Hopefully 6 se sells well.
Can someone tell me why the SE model only come out in Asia market and not to spread it globally?
i love the fold 6. i was going to stay with the 5. which was my first folding phone. as i like the narrow one handed use. but was a pain to use sometimes. the 6 fixed that. i would love 5x zoom. don't need 200 meg camera. would be nice but do not need. but i want that new snapdragon chip next year. i still hope they make the cover a little wider again
The 5x zoom would have been a great feature to add, but I agree, the new Snapdragon chip will be awesome!
@@techwithbenefitsThe snapdragon Elite I can't wait for it to be on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
I was so orientated and waiting to buy the new Ultra but now no sp3n no buy bye-bye
You can't talk sense on here 😅😅
I agree with you.
I was going to buy my first Fold but nowthat I've seen the SE I've decided to wait for the Fold 7.
I prefer the narrow display. Dont want every fold to be the exact same. Its why phones are so borning now
What is the difference between A special Edition and Fan Edition??
One is foldable...😄
Fan Edition is a phone that Samsung fans can access for an affordable price. Features Samsung fans like in a cheaper package.
Special Edition is a limited offering. A unique version of something.
I bet the Fold SE retail price out of the gate would've been ridiculous if it had to be the flagship fold phone
Wait. I just saw you at SamMobile's channel doing the same review. What's going on here?
This is my channel, and I work for SamMobile as well
I'm with you 💯
Am I the only one that likes the narrow form factor of the Samsung foldables? It makes so much more sense, almost like 2 different phones for different situations. One for single hand operation and one for more complex tasks in the unfolded mode. I truly hope they not gonna change it with the fold 7.
Supposedly, they sold out in 10 minutes. I also heard it was 1000 units. Either way, a 10 min sell-out means this is what people want.
I think I'm done with Samsung after not making this the fold 6 , only thing that brings me back to Samsung is if they release the tri-fold next year.
Samsung should make two versions, one thicker with a s pen. I bet the people complaining about thickness buy it first
questionable decision makers at samsung headquarter. for a while i noticed stagnant progress in samsung phones in design and tech. the company should be run by engineers with vision and not clueless, greedy managers.
The fold 7 I hope has the megapixels , 5700 mah battery , gen 4 elite, stylus both screens like Honor
I'm hoping it will be for the fold6 bc that snapdragon 8 elite looking really promising
I want to see Zfold7: hope Samsung upgrade camera, include S Pen and size of front screen is large like OnePlus (fold).
The Fold SE should have been the Fold 6 and the Fold FE should have been the Fold 6 priced at a lower price.
Can you please be my sugar papi, Tech with Benefit kun? ❤
My Zed 4 and now my new Zed 6 are amazing .so pleased I got shot of the backward iPhone stuff..
bigger front screen and better camera, yes!
I'll stick with my Honor Magic v3 still thinner the the Fold 6
But anyway
Samsung messed up royalty with me now. They are about to get a one-star rating on the Fold 6
Why?
Samsung have shown they can do it, so i will keep my fold 4 until they perfect it. This was a cowardly move to release the fold 6 knowing they could have made it better.
Screw the s pen. Give us bigger screen/battery and better cameras!
I was so upset because they should have just came out with the se
People have been saying they want a regular phone size that folds open since the fold was introduced. This isn't a new thing.
Samsung did this becuase they don't care about the worse experience the customers get when they release a better product a few months later. They knew content creators would carry the water for them and bend over backwards to try and justify this move.
Exactly! Samsung went to Apple’s school.
S fold 6 absolutely my phone until Samsung decides to put in a stylus in the body.
I have the Fold 4 and see no reason to upgrade.
I need that s pen🤷🏾♂️
Because of the S-Pen
Love samsung when they used to risk with new products, but now they are same as 🍎
Now Chinese fold are getting better and somehow cheaper
Perhaps Samsung should do what LG did and release a dual-screen case.
I'm not excited about anything that Samsung does anymore
Precisely I'm not excited either I have the Galaxy Z fold 6 and I dropped it in a drawer for the pixel 9 pro fold
Shows disdain for consumers in Western Markets. Samsung taking the p...sss
They aren't doing that. They are producing a device at a smaller scale to minimise risk if it doesn't work.
Wth was the point in not giving it spen functionality. This is a revised fold 1
I think that Samsung should make a flip and fold Fe
I do too, just not yet. Fold 7 and 7 Ultra first
im so tired of hearing youtubers talk about "Ultra" when we're already looking at what is supposed to be a bleeding edge device worth thousands of dollars.
I think Samsung is not so sure about this phone, so that's why it is keeping it a secret and not launching it globally 😅
I think the fold se will be rebranding as fold 7 in 2025
Just use the fold 3 until the fold 8....
That means purposely sales with minor change and fools people
I don't think so.
But this is only available in 2 places?
It's not like they are making it available everywhere. It's a special edition with a limited run being made.
You must have little fingers, when closed it's too small. They need to stay ahead of the competition. There are some nice foldable all of them are all bigger than samsung. Make 2 versions, then.
WHY : Because Samsung has been complacent and greedy .
Everything you listed would push the price at least to 2300-2500$.
Lol no SPen fail😂
Because we outsiders don't deserve it, we're foreign peasants!
no spen, not interested
Nah it's a downgrade since it does t have s pen support
