Maybe because you people want to open their phone and hold a mini tablet with 2 hands when on the go every time they want to type something. It's not giving you the best of both worlds, it's giving you none of either. You've got a narrow cover screen that is not as comfortable to use as a regular phone, and a square inner screen that barely provides any extra viewing space for watching media.
As a current user of Z Fold 5, I just think the outer screen is good. I don't need larger screen, because if I need one, I just need to open the phone and use the inner (bigger) screen. One of the main reason why I choose the fold; the flexibility.
This is a great video and mainly focuses on the positive things from the Fold6. I recognize i might have come across too harsh in previous comments and let down by Samsung releasing a better Fold in Korea, so this video is great to remind me all the awesome things I enjoy from my Fold6, keep this up and this same format mate, well appreciated.
Thank you mate. Appreciate the super thanks and the lovely words. I try and keep things positive about Samsung on here, I feel it's a space not too well represented in the tech space. Lots of people chasing the numbers and specs and not focusing on the areas where Samsung are really strong and the positive things they bring to the tech world. Cheers!
I go where the tech is best. Have loved Samsung and have several watches, buds and tablets, plus phones. But I'm tired of their high priced and poor hardware now. Software is good but it's not everything, with Google's own software (AI in particular) now baked into other brand devices. Wish the Fold 6 was thinner, wider, had proper battery life, proper charging speeds and flagship cameras (at this price, it should). If they step up, I'll be back but right now, they don't provide value (or the best at any any price). Sorry.
If u want a huge cover screen get a slab phone. It's called a fold because it's meant for u to open the phone and enjoy the inner screen when needed. Samsung should keep this design it's beautiful. Pls samsung DO NOT make the cover screen bigger at all, it's perfect as is..
I love the phone. I've had the 2nd, 4th, and now the 6th variants. I also have a OnePlus Open, an iPhone, and a Pixel, but I prefer the Fold 6. I don't care about cameras. It takes really freaking good photos. I've compared them all, and I don't see any big, can't-live-without differences. Everything nowadays is about specs that people won't even use, but they want that mental validation that they have the greatest and latest and blah, blah, blah. The Fold 6 has perfect inner and outer screens. I love all folds, but Samsung takes the win because they're the ones who started this and it makes me happy because I started enjoying phones again.
This phone is great for media consumption. I have a Galaxy tab s10 Ultra for when I want to sit frown and consume media. I have the Z Fold6 when I need to walk around and consume media. I am the ultimate media consumption boy. TV, social media, news... that's me! I do not own a traditional television. I haven't for years. I don't really use the csmeras. Nobody wants to see my pictures. I don't want tonsee other people's dog photos.
My issue with the phone is that it's not a compelling upgrade from my S24 ultra. The front screen doesn't bother me. The battery is a big deal, though. 4400 mah vs 5000 mah. I also don't like that it comes out before we get the new chip putting it behind the S model.
This is what I have been looking for. Excellent review of the real life application of this phone. I just don't understand how a person who is intelligent enough to produce a brilliant video like, at the same time, elects to be a Spurs fan. I suppose no one is perfect.
Thank you for this video, I really enjoy these types of videos that talk about experiences and not just specs. I feel like we complain about how similar the devices are nowadays, so I appreciate that Samsung offers something different than other manufacturers with the narrower cover screen. Every time I watch one of these videos I get more and more tempted!
Thank you. Numbers can give you information but no context. This phone is all about context. It is an excellent overall package that caters for lots of scenarios. It has a purpose and sometimes people forget that purpose and try and judge it based on something else! Thanks for the comment.
Excellent review, with an emphasis on the user experience, and how Samsung software gets the most out of the folding phone format. And, yes, I love being able to confidently hold my fold 6.
My 3 has finally gotten damaged and I'm surprised it was on the hing and it was dust most likely I'm excited to get a z6 is it worth upgrading now I'm starting to think so
Unfortunately not. The original Tab S had an 8.4inch screen, but they never continued with it past the Tab S2 version of it. From Tab S3 onwards it started at 9.7inches and they never went smaller.
Sold me on every point I was making about why I like the idea of this phone (I currently don't have one). The screen real estate is insane! I can see myself really appreciating using Excel on it, for example, and the full calendar which I ALWAYS squint at on my regular phone.
My concern is power usage. How long can it stay on for with common usage? Does the phone drain power quickly to the point you have to put it on the charger multiple times a day?
I have the galaxy fold two and cannot text on the front screen. I am extremely looking forward to ordering the pixel nine Pro fold second edition. With the fat screen on front and 8 inches when open. And somewhere around 2700 to 3000 brightness. Some people like the skinny galaxy fold front cover, but that’s about one percent of people.
The Fold 6 is substantially wider on the cover screen vs. the Fold 2, but you're holding a very similar width. The pixel 9 pro fold's cover display is wider sure, but the hinge makes it wider than it needs to be
I have both the s24 ultra and the z fold 6. And I always come back to the z fold. The only thing that is needed to make this phone perfect is having the s pen installed in the phone. That would kill all competition period..
First let's put an end to the denial state : my wife hate you. It's been 15 years since I have been hyped that much by a phone, and this quick video (time fly when it's good time) just nailed it perfectly. The only thing preventing me is the usual market check to see if there is valid competitor (gonna browse your channel first)
I had the z fold 4 skipped the 5, then got the 6. I'm happy with it. I use the stylus with many apps. I'm happy. I have no complaints. I get what you're saying, if it works for you good. Not for everyone, that's for sure.
I loved my Fold 4, but I am giving up on my Foldable journey. The biggest issue I have is the fragility of the inner screen. I invested in the Fold 4 with the intention of it being a 3-4 year device, but within a year the inner screen protector began lifting. Unfortunate, but I was willing to live with it - but the lifting screen protector was enough to damage the inner screen. Luckily, Samsung replaced the screen (and battery) for free, but a year later, the screen protector has begun to lift again down the centre crease. Now, I am terrorfied to opening the Fold so I am stuck with a chunky, narrow device. A shame, because I love the utility and I think I will struggle going back to a standard form factor - but I want the piece of mind of not having to worry about my £1000 device failing whenever I use it
Fold 3 and four were the worst in terms of reliability and maybe the five too. I have the five and a week after the warranty ended, dead pixels show up on the inner screen crease and i babied this phone. The fold 2 i ran that phone for nearly three hard years lol i dropped and everything. Very hard use. Never had a problem. No cracks just scratches. Sold it for $400 after i upgraded to the five.
Screen has been amazing. I've not had any fears or been especially careful with it (I'm normally careful with any phone to be fair 😅) but it's definitely holding up great
I love my z fold 6. I'm coming from an IPhone 14 pro max. Front screen could be bigger, that's my only "complaint". Wish they would have released the SE version in the USA. It's an incredible phone.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is obviously a different take on the foldable form factor. I think the only thing I really don't think about their foldable is the fact they make the cover screen area far too wide. Especially the hinge, it protudes out so far and makes it wider for no reason. They will say it's for a wider inner display, but why not extend the screen on the front all the way out?
I can't get the UA-cam comments to go down to the bottom screen for some reason. Edit i had the UA-cam app to set to auto open panel in the flex mode settings. Turned this off and still got the controls and can now close them off and get comments on lower screen!
I do trading for a living, and its amazing to be able to open the phone, check the graphs and do wahtever i need to on the go. Also im amazed of how light the opened phone is. That makes it more comfortable than a normal tablet for media consumption
Thanks for giving your opinion, but I loved the new design, especially the wider front screen Also, I do like the square design over the curvy one Best regards
The zfold6 is annoyingly good. I need to review other phones, but I don’t want to take my sim out of this phone. Hence the delay to pixel, xiaomi, and even iPad mini review.
I love mine, I also have a vivo x fold 3 pro which is awesome but there is something about the compact design of the z fold and the fantastic software that make me want to use it more
100% agree on the form factor. having s24U width (79mm) defeats the purpose of foldables. but i think theres a sweetspot between that and the current 68mm width where it's still easy to use onehanded but large enough to appease most angry fans. That range is 72-74mm imo.
@@PaulKunkel-n9gpeople want too many conflicting things and want status over what's available!! Like the ones that want a bigger battery but don't want to give up other things like S Pen!!!
I've had the folds and been using the fold 6, but just got the 9 pro fold and love the form factor. Samsung definitely has the better software though. As far as usability the pixel fold works better for me and I Iove samsung.
Honestly for me I found that the front screen is quite practical and it's great factor to feel the phone in hand better than my old S 23 ultra which was traded with this one
Traded my z fold 4 for oneplus open and hands down oneplus got it right! Samsung became Apple on micro upgrades for the fold that it's disheartening seeing the adventurous phones Samsung used to put out be replaced with play it safe phone models. I'm looking forward to oneplus open 2 next year!
Hello Daniel, thank you very much for your videos, especially about the Z Fold series. I share the same opinion as @DjangoGroen. The stupid comments about the narrow front display are slowly but surely getting on my nerves. And the discussions about the thickness. 1, 2 or 3 mm thicker makes absolutely no difference. Total nonsense. A Fold is there to be opened and messages etc. could be read and of course written on the front display. Why do I need a large and wide front display? The same old topic with the camera. What's the point of all the whining? In my opinion, the camera on the Z Fold 6 is amazing and completely sufficient. Just imagine, I'm going on holiday and have a cell phone, a tablet, an e-book reader and a top camera in one device including an S-Pen. It's amazing. And it's water and dust resistant too! I was by the sea in Italy in October, no problems with either sand or water. Keep up the good work, your channel is great. Thanks
I respectfully disagree I'm a z fold 6 owner if I'm going to pay $2,000 for a phone I want the best cameras and I want the biggest screen. It irritates me that the front screen is so small and I have tiny hands I'm a 5'2 woman
How long have you been using the phone? I came from another iphone max and thought it was narrow two months ago but got used to it by now. Won't go back.
I didn't pay $2000 for my Z Fold 6. I trade a dead Flip 3 phone for the Fold 6. Pre ordered under ATT promotion. ATT gave me $1100 for my trade. 😅 I love everything about the Z Fold 6. I can't go back to regular phone.
When comparing reviews of the ZF6 and the HMV3 the Samsung feels like it's years behind and have been slacking off. Hard to reward that with a purchase.
95% of the time most people don't open it so the front screen is the main screen not the large one. That's only for rare occasions like viewing pictures and videos recorded with the shit cameras. Had it and sent it back
The camera's are fine except for the zoom, its awful. Samsung should at least match the chinese folds in this area but even the fold SE has.the same crappy 3x. I find my sim in the google fold 2 and S23/24 ultras more than my fold 6.
I'd say the 3x camera is fine for everyday use, it's when you want to zoom in close that you really notice the limitations. A 50MP 3x zoom camera would certainly be ideal and solve the problem
As a daily driver, we need a normal smart phone size aspect ratio for the cover screen (s24 at least) plus flagship cameras for the premium price. Why should we have to open it up all the time for regular phone use purposes? The inner screen is for extended use...a tablet.
i just think the resolution is way too low for a $2k device. thats my only gripe. if youre watching a 16:9 video, on the cover screen it will be 900p and on the inner screen it will be 1200p. on an s24u, it's 1440p.
Yep 364 ppi ,the lowest resolution out of all foldable devices on the market. And there is a more garbage specks all over the phone that just this one .
@@bartsimpson7424 the s24u just feels like the superior content consumption device. why pay 50% extra for a display that is less sharp and only a bit bigger. folding is not enough to make me accept compromises in quality.
Hmm I get it, but resolution isn't all that makes the display. I would say for it's purpose, it's plenty sharp enough. As for the inner display, it probably could do with more numbers but it's by no means not sharp.
Samsung just had the 512gb fold 6 unlocked for 1349 usd without any trade in. After i sell my back up s23 I'll pay around 1k for the fold 6, i couldn't pass it up. This will be my 1st fold.
@ChadH2023 Wow, that's an awesome offer without a trade-in! I purchased last year's Z fold 512GB for the same amount, (the S24 Ultra 512GB was the same price) August this year I convinced myself that it was a good local deal because Samsung retailers offer Z folds here for $2388 usd My Note20 Ultra screen was failing (RIP Note20 Ultra 🥲) and I needed a replacement. And the Z fold 6 is only available in my region this month. Like you, I'll be selling my old phone when it's fixed. Surprisingly, the Note20 is holding its value pretty well here even refurbished, (probably because it was the last official note? IDK why 🤔 SD card slot perhaps?)
@msarain95 It's going to be a big adjustment because I've always used the small versions of any phone. I think my biggest struggle is finding the perfect case. Currently using a pitaka case on my base s24 and love it.
Lol thought at the beginning you where going to bash this truly awesome phone only thing needs is a lost damaged insurance for it as all no folds can get that support
If it was wider, had better cameras, battery and charging speeds, I'd buy it. In fact I did buy it, but I changed my mind and have gone for the Honor Magic V3. I want a flagship camera phone that gives my productivity (all day battery, lightness, fast, space) for work. The Fold 6 is sh*t. Samsung have got lazy. I've been with Samsung since the Note Edge, but no more. Step up. Others can do it, so why not Samsung?
I do think hardware should be improved, but I think the hardware isn't the only important thing about the cameras on a foldable, you need to consider the software and the utility of it as well. That adds to the value. Plus a Fold is more than just cameras, it's an entertainment tablet, a portable productivity machine as well as a camera.
@@techwithbenefits coming from an s23 to a zf6 was a major change, i do appreciate the fold form factor and everything that came with it, i take many pictures with my phone, the s23 camera was so reliable, never needed to take a second look, point and shoot, delivered great results almost every time. I've matched the settings i had on the zf6, not sure what it is but im very very frustrated with the results, when taking pictures it is not meeting my expectation, I prefer to take pictures with my partners iPhone 12... Frustrating.
The Samsung vision and form factor has been fully realized with the OnePlus Open. Samsung has nothing competitive to it. It even looses to the "Open Canvas" UI. Nothing yet has eclipsed the OnePlus Open. So far there is no new model from any manufacturer that has surpassed my year old OnePlus Open and while the vivo & Honor are great, both are only a tiny bit thinner and neither has a better UI then OnePlus Open's "Open Canvas", so the most logical best buy is OnePlus Open.
This tech is not ready. I bought a z fold and it just didn't survive 6 months. First the protector bubbled. Samsung replaced it but had to replace the entire screen with it. The second time round they gave me some excuse even though it was still under warranty and refused to fix it. 3 months outside the warranty the entire inner screen went dead, bluetooth also gave up just prior. Again.. the tech isn't ready... worst phone I've ever owned... hands down
Great informative video! As far as im concerned, anyone who spends this amount of money on a device and gets it home then sits on the couch and scratchers their head and thinks this is not for me has got to be a bit thick! Oh, i love folds as well.
You know this company already had all the folds when they released the 4. Ima always say this. 😂 thats why nothing really changes becuase they already had them. Apple does the same thing. They already had a line up and realese everything in order.
It's the ugliest gadget ever. No one asked for it. So gimmicky. No one is that productive watching anime and texting. It's more than a month and a half rent. Rather save thousands every time they release gimmick gadgets.
@@techwithbenefits right...the only reql downside i see to be honest is that those are less durable than regular smartphone ..For the rest i think all the other tradeoffs are worth it..
If they don’t like form factor then get a pixel but I much prefer zedfold 6 Samsung cameras look great to me and the software nobody does better. So haters just go buy a pixel or one plus if u don’t like Samsung take on foldable. Stop trying to make a skinny phone more useful because it's got a small, narrow screen. It's an $1,800 phone with a smaller outer screen than any normal phone, and it's inner screen is smaller than all of the other folds. This is not better, it's worse. For $1,800.
The front facing screen and the open fold tablet are too damn small. Ridiculous. They want it to be usable for small woman. Plus the they could have integrated the spin with a larger phone. Koreans are small tiny people too and probably like that tiny size. Forget that. They can keep it.
When you follow samsungs z fold from one through 6 you see how samsung milks there loyal buyers will minimal up grades and the cost of these phones are 2000 and going up .. also there product will physically fail the inner screen will bubble up as the screen protector fails and then there the burn in and the phone will not fold flat any longer this all happened in less than 6 months to a yr...
Never understood why people complain about the cover screen. I like it. For bigger screen stuff you open your damn phone
Exactly right!

Absolutely! It provides things a normal phone can't do. The fact it then folds up into your pocket makes it so worthwhile
Excellent video the software on my fold 4 is amazing. I miss ultra cameras really trying to decide on s25 ultra or fold 6.
Thanks for giving your opinion, but I loved the new design, especially the wider front screen
Also, I do like the square design over the curvy one
Best regards
You never had a hinge issue with z fold 4 or you sold it before it occurred? Because hinge problem is well known with z fold 4.
Love his videos he explains the fold like nobody van
The zfold6 is annoyingly good. I need to review other phones, but I don’t want to take my sim out of this phone. Hence the delay to pixel, xiaomi, and even iPad mini review.
I love the size of the cover screen. I used it for quick things and like the thinner feel when holding and talking
I love mine, I also have a vivo x fold 3 pro which is awesome but there is something about the compact design of the z fold and the fantastic software that make me want to use it more
It makes it feel different to a normal phone. Which in itself is a refreshing change of pace
Thank you. I couldn't have said it any better.
100% agree on the form factor. having s24U width (79mm) defeats the purpose of foldables. but i think theres a sweetspot between that and the current 68mm width where it's still easy to use onehanded but large enough to appease most angry fans. That range is 72-74mm imo.
Yeah I'm going to be curious to see what the Fold SE width is like to hold. Might be a nice middle ground
@@techwithbenefits i think it's like 73mm wide. so you'll be the judge of if that is still good for onehanded use.
@techwithbenefits the Stupid Edition...too many names that really don't mean much
@@PaulKunkel-n9gpeople want too many conflicting things and want status over what's available!!
That pixel fold is a poorly constructed phone and the customer support is about as worse as Samsung regarding getting any warranty work for the screen
I'm looking forward to oneplus open 2 next year!
nice review. some positive here however I need the best cameras so until that changes, I'll stick with the slab!
i didnt like the cover screen but i have learnt to live with it because the phone is amazing when its opened.
Can someone help me with this question? My question is: should I wait for the Z Fold 7 or buy the Fold 6 now?
Great review thanks
Appreciate the feedback, glad you enjoyed it!
Love my fold 6. You gave me anxiety though while i was waiting for a soccer ball to come flying at it lol
Switched from the s24 and I am stoked on the zfold. Sold
Guys do i get this or get the s25 ultra
The camera preview is a game changer when you have crazy kids lol
1000%
Enjoyed that.... But the price is just too much. Maybe I'll see how much they are after a year.
Thanks
I like the small screen on the outside. It fits better in my pocket than my s22 ultra
Love the phone, my first fold phone, and I'm not going back.
Yes, even all the professionals admit that Samsung folds have the best software.
I absolutely love my 5.. would never go back to a normal size phone. So what that I've had 2 FREE Replacement screens.. only took a few days.
If you want the best cameras, go buy an actual camera lady..
Reviewers miss the mark on the purpose but act like experts. Clearly all about the algorithm for views these days apparently
Had it and sent it back
You never used it. Can tell by your comment. The photos from my zfold 6 and s24 ultra are very similar
The cameras on the fold isn't even bad. Also, most people aren't buying a fold for the cameras.
If you barely open it, why did you buy it?
It's a phablet. i love it.
@@techwithbenefits if samsung could at least equal the x fold 3 pro tjat would be nice
Well they probably don't have space...always a question of price and space
I'll wait for the z fold 6 SE aka the z fold 7 aka what the z fold 6 should have been.
Samsung just had the 512gb fold 6 unlocked for 1349 usd without any trade in. After i sell my back up s23 I'll pay around 1k for the fold 6, i couldn't pass it up. This will be my 1st fold.
That's a great deal! You'll love the Fold experience.
@@techwithbenefits i hope so. I don't have a tablet or use my laptop anymore. I hope this bridges the gap, thanks for the videos.
@ChadH2023 Wow, that's an awesome offer without a trade-in!
I purchased last year's Z fold 512GB for the same amount, (the S24 Ultra 512GB was the same price) August this year
I convinced myself that it was a good local deal because Samsung retailers offer Z folds here for $2388 usd
My Note20 Ultra screen was failing (RIP Note20 Ultra 🥲) and I needed a replacement. And the Z fold 6 is only available in my region this month.
Like you, I'll be selling my old phone when it's fixed. Surprisingly, the Note20 is holding its value pretty well here even refurbished, (probably because it was the last official note? IDK why 🤔 SD card slot perhaps?)
Literally bought it on the same deal. Loving the experience.
@msarain95 It's going to be a big adjustment because I've always used the small versions of any phone. I think my biggest struggle is finding the perfect case. Currently using a pitaka case on my base s24 and love it.
People just alwAys confused using fold and candybar phone😅...so want.more bigger outer display, than forget they have bigger insidee😂😂
Lol thought at the beginning you where going to bash this truly awesome phone only thing needs is a lost damaged insurance for it as all no folds can get that support
Watching this on the Fold 6 😅🤷🏽♂️
Its better than them IPhones! 😤
Beautiful fold
If it was wider, had better cameras, battery and charging speeds, I'd buy it. In fact I did buy it, but I changed my mind and have gone for the Honor Magic V3. I want a flagship camera phone that gives my productivity (all day battery, lightness, fast, space) for work. The Fold 6 is sh*t. Samsung have got lazy. I've been with Samsung since the Note Edge, but no more. Step up. Others can do it, so why not Samsung?
The phone is great, for the price we should have gotten better camera's...
Yup too lacking too fragile and too overpriced
Import the special edition or wait for fold 7
Stupid edition
I'll let you know shortly...
Sir... I came here to watch a review that would talk me OUT of buying a Fold 6, not encourage me. I'm truly disappointed. 🤣
Finally, a fair review of this phone has been harsh. This is a good phone, but to hear some of the reviews, it is the worst ever.
Subbed
This tech is not ready. I bought a z fold and it just didn't survive 6 months. First the protector bubbled. Samsung replaced it but had to replace the entire screen with it. The second time round they gave me some excuse even though it was still under warranty and refused to fix it. 3 months outside the warranty the entire inner screen went dead, bluetooth also gave up just prior. Again.. the tech isn't ready... worst phone I've ever owned... hands down
Galaxy S24 ultra still the best ❤
I've had more problems with my z fold than any other smart phone I've ever owned
Great informative video! As far as im concerned, anyone who spends this amount of money on a device and gets it home then sits on the couch and scratchers their head and thinks this is not for me has got to be a bit thick! Oh, i love folds as well.
Yup but not into price for what you get
S24 fe review?
Nope no need for Fools Edition
It's coming, as you can see I do my reviews after a lengthy period of time!
I just think an S23 Ultra and a tablet is a better combo. Half the price, better cameras and battery life.
Let me guess, that's precisely the setup that you have, right?
I actually sold my S23 Ultra and kept my old Z Fold 2.
Thats how much i love foldables 😂
@@TomerShemeshtruth hurts....
I have made a video about that. Should check it out and let me know what you think
Well I'd say a Fold 6 and a Tab S10 Ultra is a better combo! 😂
24 ultra cameras are rubbish compared to my old fold 4 , don't wish for them😊😊
You know this company already had all the folds when they released the 4.
I think it's fair to say your opinion doesn't line up with facts of sales data of people who have bought the phone
Clearly you never used it...
@@JoeGillian0 theres no way they've used it! Because when you use it, you know!
@@techwithbenefits right...the only reql downside i see to be honest is that those are less durable than regular smartphone ..For the rest i think all the other tradeoffs are worth it..
The title for this video is rather misleading - you say ‘you shouldn’t bother’ but then praise the phone to the skies - what gives?
Because people who don't find what I say appealing shouldn't bother with the phone.
If they don’t like form factor then get a pixel but I much prefer zedfold 6 Samsung cameras look great to me and the software nobody does better. So haters just go buy a pixel or one plus if u don’t like Samsung take on foldable. I like skinny cover screen because its feels way better when I am actually using phone on a phone call or text but anything else I got a great inner display
Nope no PISS ALLS I'm getting Samsung Ultra...no need for Piss All Roms Launchers, or Mods...always makes me laugh how Piss All cuts Samsung down for unneeded bloat but doesn't have even a native alarm!!! PISS ALL is " Clean" but then doesn't do much...just cheap, over hearing crap
Stop trying to make a skinny phone more useful because it's got a small, narrow screen.
It's an $1,800 phone with a smaller outer screen than any normal phone, and it's inner screen is smaller than all of the other folds.
This is not better, it's worse. For $1,800.
Listen i have big hand so please Samsung go big or go home because pixel is lookin comfortable right now
Can^
Mate your phone love mine
Iv owned fold 2 fold 4 flip 4 flip 5 st24 ultra now fold 6 I'm happy
FLOP FLOP sucks too overpriced too fragile and too lacking with terrible cameras just to fit a tiny bit easier in your pocket
