Your first impression of Sky Paris is comprehensive and much better than those so called "full reviews" popped up on YT recently. As a 56-year-old sub 3 runner, I still want to get a sub 2:50 in the near future and I think the Sky Paris might be the shoes would help if I jump the ship from Saucony Pro 3. My Skys are on the way, hopefully the relatively pronounced arches won't bother my feet. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming tests on the Skys. Keep up your excellent work.
Great review as always. This shoe looks amazing. I have been loving my adios pro 3 for races, just ran a PR 3:25 in it this weekend. HOWEVER, man I want this Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris for my next race. you got me excited about it.
After sweating over the Hyperion Elite v4 or the NB SC Elite v4 or the Endo Pro 4 or the upcoming Adios Pro 4, I went with the Sky Paris when it came out. I'm using it tomorrow for my spring marathon. Great review, as always.
Good luck. Im not a fast marathoner and in fact only targeting my first one in Q4…so was weighing this shoe vs the NB SC Elite 4. Hope the NB was your second runner up
Love your review. I had the same experience as you. For your reference, I'm a 61 year old male runner, 5'11", 161 lbs., narrow feet, high arches, midfoot striker, and 3:34 marathon/ 1:38 half marathon. Based on my Garmin data on my fast mile relative to my easy mile % change, I'm a stride runner so I purchased the Sky Paris. On a 10 mile progression run, I ran 2 minutes faster with these on the same hilly course than when I ran with my Vaporfly Next % (85 miles on them) just a week earlier (effort % from Garmin was about the same). They are soft but a touch more dense for more control/stability with the wider forefoot giving me more pop running on the balls of my feet. They are smooth, fast, and disappear on your feet allowing me to focus on my effort and control. My legs recovered incredibly well with these so very protective.
@@tadejdanev5030, I know that on my easy slow run pace, my cadence is about 167 and stride length is about 1.0 m. From my Garmin watch data, on a fast flat mile, my cadence is 176 and my stride length is 1.8 m. My cadence % change is 167/176 = .95, which means a 5% change of my cadence. My stride length % change is 1/1.8 = .56 which means a 44% change in my stride length for that same mile. Please note that how you foot strike has nothing to do with whether you're a stride runner or cadence runner.
I bought the S4 on EBay, a Japan seller with 100% approval. It’s a much firmer and stable shoe! Reminds me of my edge plus the most but more stable, tad less snappy. It’s a good shoe but as a 3:38 Marathon runner I like the edge Paris much better or the super fast for me firm and snappy edge plus. Set a half course Pr I’m the edge plus recently at 1:36. I’m 56 and I’ve been running for 20 plus years now. Good job on the weekly miles! I’m trying but find 40-50 m per week best or I am getting injured slightly. I do rotate a lot of shoes but you have inspired me to try for 55m or more a week. Great work!
Picked up the Edge Paris last week. Very happy with them. I was also comparing against the Vaporfly but my main issue was the lack of foam right under the toe, having the same feeling as the comment you made about them. I wasn’t confident about toe impact at 20, 30, 40kms into a run/race.
Great review and although I am well set for race shoes for a while the Sky Paris is tempting me. My Half PB is in the original Sky still and I preferred that shoe to the Sky+ I currently have one pair of Endorphin Elite with 110 miles on them that I will be wearing for the upcoming Paris Marathon and a box fresh pair of them waiting for any possible Marathon at the back end of 2024 and Boston 2025. How would you compare the Sky Paris to the Endorphin Elite for a 50 year old 3:10 Marathoner who still hasn't given up hope of cracking Sub 3 before old age hits?
I tried the edge paris and was super fast. Got a PB in 1 mile, 5k, and 10 mk without even pushing it that hard, but that is as far as I could go in it. After mile 7 the narrowness started to show and my over pronation kicked in and I tipped to far inward and all the weight went towards my big toe, and ended up getting blisters and couldn't even finish a half marathon. Is the paris a big wider? I would love to be able to run in this shoe. Want about the diadora?
The new Metaspeed series looks really nice. As a non-racer, I'm really curious about the Superblast 2 with the FF Turbo+. Leaks of the Magic Speed 4 show it with the old FF Turbo, not +. Sagasu Running did a really interesting matrix comparing most of the top tier racers based on plate placement and geometry and how the high plates and scooped plates, etc. have different dynamics. Every morning, I'm waking up, curious to see what you uploaded overnight. That's my new breakfast/morning routine. 😁
In addition to your midfoot hanging out (similar to Alphafly v1 fit for me) your little toe is also hanging out. This is a very narrow shoe. I tried US10.5 in an ASICS event (I am US10) and I was surprised how much it was hanging out midfoot. For me Edge Paris felt better in fit but also had a forward directional movement. And yes, for me US10.5 is probably the right size for me because I really want a thumb width space in front of toes. From what I see you didn't seem to have that much space as well. I think you could use 1/2 up as well especially for marathon use.
What a beaut! I had to send the Edge back, about 1/8th an inch too snug with the steeper drop up front. Could do short stuff in it, but wanted to do longer. 9.5 US in the mail headed back my way. Monday. Going to try a 5k and 10k attempts too
Exact same scenario. My US9 Edge Paris feels a tad short, with my toes hitting the edge during toe off. Bought these in Japan, contemplating on returning for US9.5
I had same issue with both edge and sky - I was surprised review said true to size. I had to return both… and I’m size 13 so there is no larger size to get.
I went for the Gara carbon in my usual UK size. Diadora sent me the wrong size. It was the correct size on the box but the actual shoes were 1/2 size smaller. Diadora admitted there mistake, but I kept them as they must run slightly long as I still had room in the toe box. They felt great on my half marathon pacing run straight out of the box. I don’t think I’d benefit my more from the sky Paris as the Gara are the best shoes I’ve run in for a few years. Nice review.
This is a follow up on my earlier comment about using the Sky Paris for my marathon yesterday. I am a mid to forefoot striker, so, this shoe worked exceptionally well for me. As Yowana noted, this shoe might not be ideal for a heel striker, and I wholeheartedly agree. The shoe is very narrow in the heel, and would be unstable for a heel striker, especially towards the end of the race when the form deteriorates. When I hit mile 23, I stepped on the gas and the shoe responded happily. I sprinted across the finish line with a Boston Qualifier.
Running a lot of one hour and ninety minute runs is the best thing that improved my long run fitness. Slowly increasing your weekly mileage and having at least one hour long run and one ninety minute run outside of the 2+ hour effort will be huge. And then in terms of strength work in the gym, compound movements (deadlifts and squats) are all I need to help support my running
It's a bit softer and a lot lighter than the adios pro 3. It feels way faster out of the box for me than the adidas. Ride isn't that similar to superblast but they both do have a more cushioned forefoot than typical speed/racing shoes. Superblast is a lot wider, more stable and more comfortable and the sky Paris is narrower and lighter
Did you ever try the metaspeed sky +? I really wanted to love the metaspeed sky paris but the unisex fitting is too wide in the midfoot for me (but I can't go a half size down as then my toe hits the front of the shoe). I noticed the metaspeed sky + is half price now compared to the sky paris but everyone talks about how much better this is compared to the metaspeed sky +. I don't think I've seen you put a video out about them or talk about them so I assume you didn't run in them but thought I'd ask 😃.
Unfortunately I didn't try those. I did have a friend here in Charlotte who raced in those and loved them. I've heard they're a little on the side though
I personally would pick the sky. More cushioned feeling at a lighter weight and feels like it can stand up to my force at faster paces better. I did my last half in the Vaporfly 3 and it felt a little soft and squishy in the forefoot for my liking - still managed to get a PR but wasn't in love with the shoe
@@supwell so I tried the Sky and did about 6 miles at like 6:45ish and had to stop. Toes were really smashing into the front of the toe box and started to hurt. Not a problem I’ve had before and the toe box didn’t feel too small, so I’m not sure. Maybe the Sky rocker just didn’t work with my mechanics? Wondering if you think the Edge is worth a try because I did love the midsole a ton.
@@SnorlaxRunningI had the same issue in the sky - and edge felt really similar too. A lot of runners are going half a size up. I would try that first instead of going to edge. I slightly preferred the sky and it will probably work for you once you get right size - I regret not going half a size up lol
Thanks! And if you like the super cushioned forefoot feeling of the novablast and superblast then you'll really like how this feels. That's something that set this shoe apart for sure
I have found for me the edge + is a super fast shoe as well! Just bought the Paris edge so we’ll see. I’m also 56 so that may have something to do with it, I also used to mainly use firm racing flats for the marathon like the adidas adios 1/2 did great but that was 6-7 years ago now lol
Why did you have the left and right shoe tied differently when you ran in them? You had the left shoe laced with 2 holes remaining at the top and right shoe with only 1 hole remaining at the top, was this intentional?
Thanks for the first run review. I so like the looks and tech of the new Paris shoes. Is forefoot much narrower then the Boston 12? Hope you say they are the same or i'll probably have to skip due to wider feet.
My dog, pick up the Edge if you can! I am really loving mine!!!!!!! ASICS: please the shoe reviewer of the 2024 some Metaspeed Paris Edge’s. I have completed many of my purchases after YOWANA’S reviews. #Asics
I like the vapor fly softnes but my ankles felt like they were working harder in the vapor fly. How’s sky Paris compare to the pro 3/4 and cielo? Sounds like I’d like dia Dora for softer when doing a 5 hour marathon. Still trying to decide on the pro 3 vs something else for my 1st ever marathon as a slow and heavier runner the pro 3 has been the best shoe I have found so far for half marathon run distance.
The sky feels a lot lighter and faster than any of the shoes you mentioned - also a lot narrower and worse stability. I personally wouldn't try to take this shoe past 3 hours because of how narrow it felt running at more relaxed paces. If you want to get something other than Pro 3, think you'll enjoy the Pro 4 or Diadora Gara the most. Gara is a little faster feeling and pro 4 is a bit softer but both are amazing for getting some bounce and making it easier to run throughout a 2+ hour effort
Just what I was thinking..do you think the endorphin elite is more stable than the paris going for a sub 3.15 marathon p.b? I dont like the new endorphin pro4s sadly
@@TheMf51y for me the endorphin elite is more stable than the Paris models. I returned both Paris models as I had the same issue with the as I did with the alpha fly. I'm much slower than you but I prefer the endorphin pro 3 over the elite but both felt pretty good for me.
My edge supposed to be here next week..I didn't particularly care for the OG and sent them back..I found the OG sky to be a very fast 5k racer but it was too harsh to go more than 5k..I think the Diadora cara might be good but availability is very limited..same for alphafly V3..long distance racing/training shoes are the most difficult to find or procure..after 10mi or so everything from cushioning, breathability, weight and comfort to durability needs increases..quite a difference between running a marathon and racing a marathon..another good video..
@@supwell Thanks. I got my Edge Paris and would be returning this for half a size up. I even used the insole method with my novablast and superblast, and the Edge Paris is indeed shorter.
What's your normal shoe size? I'm 44 EU in nike sizing, but if im getting the paris sky what should i go, going half a size up (44.5) or just stick wt 44?
@@supwell thanks for the sizing tip. I am getting faster and doing more marathon and faster paces in the low 6's/high 5's and the super bouncy (Hoka Cielo) is getting distracting. I do love that shoe but I feel like I need something for race day and some of these super hard Daniels threshold workouts.
i increase both my stride and cadence when i run faster but i would lean toward stride - because i am taller my cadence is "low" compared to others running at the same paces. half marathon and marathon pace i'm generally in the 170s. i'm looking forward to testing the edge soon tho
Ya, I suspect you'll need to limit the usage in that shoe if you wanna A race with it. Since that rear midsole area might take a beating if you run at steady/easy too much in that shoe. Asics has definitely finally caught up to Nike in the racing department.
The foam base is super narrow on this one! I'll be testing edge soon but I'm thinking it'll be similar. The TYR racer and New Balance have been the best for width so far this year
Does it come close to zoomx? I think with all the things all the companies are trying... and while we are going crazy geeking out.... I think if there is one thing that still is unbeatable is Zoomx! I am not saying Nike shoes work for everybody... but I think for majority of the people zoomx is the most responsive foam out there! Clear winner!
Yeah the foam here is amazing. It's like a slightly denser ZoomX. It doesn't feel all that different from anything I've tried but it just works for making me feel fast and efficient at my race paces
I didn't think of it until now but honestly the geometry and cushion feel is really similar to the speed 2! I wouldn't get this if you want something to train in though - the durability won't be there. If you are a forefoot striker the TYR Valkyrie Speedworks of mizuno flash 2 are good choices. I also know some runners who have replaced the speed 2 with the Asics magic speed 3 and really love it
Hey Yowana, kudos on the video as usual! Would love to see the Asics vs the NB. Why? For long-marathon distance comparison purposes, looks like the plate is similarly placed but the foams and weights make them opposites in terms of tired legs support.
I just purchased these but Im returning them without trying them, for £220 and the reviews about stability and outsole wear I feel like I've been duped by all the hype. Going to exchange for the Cielo X1.
Man I love your long detailed reviews! All the people complaining about shorter videos can stay on TikTok.

When will hobby jogger hats be available again I want to buy one!
Yeah @supwell and I need a visor for my hairbun! Lol
Restocking again later in the spring! And visors are a great idea 🤔
Or dri-fit-like running hats? 🙏😁
@@MiddlenamerichardI got you Sean!
@@supwell 🙌🙌
My edge supposed to be here next week..I didn't particularly care for the OG and sent them back..I found the OG sky to be a very fast 5k racer but it was too harsh to go more than 5k..I think the Diadora cara might be good but availability is very limited..same for alphafly V3..long distance racing/training shoes are the most difficult to find or procure..after 10mi or so everything from cushioning, breathability, weight and comfort to durability needs increases..quite a difference between running a marathon and racing a marathon..another good video..
Hey! Would LOVE to see alphafly3 vs metaspeed sky Paris 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Knowing that these are a tad short, would you recommend sizing up on these, like a half size?
I went true to size but a few others here have recommended going up half a size
@@supwell Thanks. I got my Edge Paris and would be returning this for half a size up. I even used the insole method with my novablast and superblast, and the Edge Paris is indeed shorter.
I bought the metaspeed sky Paris and first run had bad arch blisters with how narrow that mid foot was so this is a no go shoe for me unfortunately
For next comparison, Alphalfy 3 vs Sky Paris pls
Please test Diadora V7000-2
What's your normal shoe size? I'm 44 EU in nike sizing, but if im getting the paris sky what should i go, going half a size up (44.5) or just stick wt 44?
I'm a similar size as you and went same size as my Nike (10.5 US men's) - these fit perfectly!
@@supwell ah i see good to know! keep up the great content mate 💪🏻
i think for your next super racer you should give the fast-r nitro elite 2 a try
But which is bouncier?
The supwell shoe finder rec was MSP, so I’m deep diving
If you want fast, light and on the firmer side it's a great shoe - just make sure to go half a size up!
Thats a serious Camera at the Overview section! What is it?
I shoot everything on a canon rebel - I think it's the t7. The overcast day made those shoes pop yesterday though!
Lets gooo 🔥🔥🔥
🙌🏽💪🏽
dude these paris shoes might be the one
facts. i can't wait to try the edge
Would you consider yourself a stride runner or a cadence runner?
i increase both my stride and cadence when i run faster but i would lean toward stride - because i am taller my cadence is "low" compared to others running at the same paces. half marathon and marathon pace i'm generally in the 170s. i'm looking forward to testing the edge soon tho
Ya, I suspect you'll need to limit the usage in that shoe if you wanna A race with it. Since that rear midsole area might take a beating if you run at steady/easy too much in that shoe.
Asics has definitely finally caught up to Nike in the racing department.
It looks pretty narrow to me. Cant ever tell if the Paris or Edge has a wider base or if it would just be best for me to stay away from them. Lol
The foam base is super narrow on this one! I'll be testing edge soon but I'm thinking it'll be similar. The TYR racer and New Balance have been the best for width so far this year
I agree no wow effect. I was expecting bouncy shoe but its not compare to AlphaFly
Narrow shoe ❤️
How is the ride compared to the speed 2? Still looking for a replacement for the unicorn.
I also know some runners who have replaced the speed 2 with the Asics magic speed 3 and really love it
Do you notice a difference in the 5mm drop vs 8mm in the speed 2?
Hey Yowana, kudos on the video as usual! Would love to see the Asics vs the NB. Why? For long-marathon distance comparison purposes, looks like the plate is similarly placed but the foams and weights make them opposites in terms of tired legs support.
Great idea - will get that one out soon
I have low arches and these hit me funny. Can't run in them
For someone that has expressed disappointment in Asics, you sure do like running in them!
Flying.
I just purchased these but Im returning them without trying them, for £220 and the reviews about stability and outsole wear I feel like I've been duped by all the hype. Going to exchange for the Cielo X1.
For Heelstriker the one of the best for Training Mizuno Wave Rider 27
It's the goat shoe so far. An alphafly 2 but lighter.
Have far did you get in this shoe, and what pace? Lastly what's your rotation with this shoe?
Thanks!
Yes big dog
🙌🏽
Can't get neither in my size fml
"Everyone knows the rules" 🍕 😅
Man those birds are the worse at the end of the video
First.
I can see the wear on the heel already. Durability is not that great
Sick vid as usual dude. Now I’m interested in seeing you try the edge.
Don’t forget everyone- Yowana drops tomo on MidLifeRunner’s podcast 🤌🏼
Thanks dude and appreciate the pod plug. Edge coming soon 💪🏽
