I just got mine yesterday as well, loved my first 9 mile run. However, these are my "race day" shoes as I don't like plates (or at least my feet don't)
Have really enjoyed my pair. There is a break-in period though which I didn’t mind. They have started to soften up considerably about 60 miles in. Whether or not you think a $200 shoe should have a 50-100 mile break-in period is a personal question. It’s also the first “super trainer” I’ve ran in so grain of salt. The guy banging out 100+ mile weeks and trying every shoe on the market probably has a good feel so I still enjoyed the review.
I only got the shoe last week, and have done 2 short runs, so I'm not sure how I feel about them yet. The rocker felt fairly present though (which I do like).

Its your review mate. No apologies needed for having an opinion. Im actually glad to hear you didn't join the band wagon to please everyone. An honest review is the best you can do for your followers.
Bro I loved my SB1 and I love even more the SB2 I never ran in a shoe where my stride feels more natural! I use it as a more durable workout & longrun shoe (if I have pace in my longrun) and this shoe instead of 100-300 will do 500-600 miles and the this price point is actually completely justified! :))
Love my SB2’s! Did an easy run today in them after a threshold run in them yesterday and my legs are thanking me for it. So much cushion, comfort, but also pep when needed or wanted. I’re recommend this shoe for threshold pace-recovery pace. For those scared of the price, ASICS has plenty of 20-25% off coupons when ordering directly from their site. If you’re military, first responder, teacher, or healthcare worker you can get a code for 25% off one purchase every month.
Agree, by far my favourite shoe. I have just got a second pair as back up. Also bought the Novablast 4TR for winter running easy miles and to stop me wearing my SB2 all the time! SB2 are amazing imo 👍
Appreciate the honest review! I’m a big fan of the Superblast 2 after about 100 km, but your points are valid - it doesn’t really do it as a daily trainer, at least for me. But it’s ideal for marathons and tempo runs.

Always interesting how shoes and people can get along so differently. I just got my pair of SB2's and I use them for my road race day shoe. Last year I used the SB1's as my road race day shoe. I like the update to the upper, the grip is far better and the foam does seem to have a little bit more feedback, but I had no issues in the first one. My 1's are now my long run shoe for training and it does all paces well. I don't see myself as a heavier runner (6 foot, 180), but I do have harsh mechanics. I also don't get along with plates, they cause pain in my feet (multiple plated shoes), so this shoe is awesome for me.
Haven’t ran in the SB2 yet but the SB1 only made me run at a faster pace easier and didn’t leave my legs beat up. The ride on the NB4, ES3, SCT2, AP3 and even the hoka clifton (shoes I currently run in) are much better. I think asics could make this shoe much better if they put more of the FF blast foam in the shoe.
You’re not the only one who has the same experience running in the Superblast. It’s just a nothing shoe for me. That’s what’s great about running, we all have different experiences. It does surprise me that the majority of people love it and whatever pace people are running in it IMO there would be a better shoe to do it in.
Hahaha, loved your review. I bought the SB1 last year and ran it like a non plated racer, did not want any carbon shoes because my Achilles tendon was acting up, and I had the feeling carbon is too harsh. Ended up loving it so much, used it all the time when I went for long run. Put 1000k on it - even after that they felt hard and did not break in, so don't expect this. I guess sign of good quality..? Hahaha. Never the less, the point I thought I like them so much was the feel I had in them after long runs. I could keep the speed and my legs felt good even with my 200lbs (92kg) weight. But..., there is better stuff out there this year. I bought the SB2 same size and they made it more narrow so can't run without destroying big toe on long run and went back to carbon plates for pretty much the same prize... My SB era is over...

appreciate you not getting on the band wagon, i feel the same way about the shoe, starts to really bother the balls of my feet after about 10 miles because of the stiffness and firm foam.
I use NB 1080v13 and Superblast2 switching every other days (my regular easy pace is 7 min/km), I found out that with the Superblast2, I can make it through 5.45-6 min/km and faster on tempo training which is easier than 1080 which made me very tired to get close to pace 6.
Hey buddy, I'm a NB cushion fan, own the more v3 and v4. I'm tempted by the SB2, but a little scared by the "brick" aspect. How do you feel switching from the super soft 1080?
@@federicocosta6040 I normally use SB and just retired it after getting SB2 (400+ km used). And just got 1080 for recovery day, running with full foot stride feeling super soft like running on cloud 😂
Yeah I agree with a few points you bought up, I tried doing slow runs in these but I can’t it’s bizarre, but it feels like it running slow but my watch tells me different 😲 I disagree I’m trudging through mud though im enjoying them. Your honest review is appreciated in the shoe review business.
First Superblast he referenced the "plate of salmon" rhyme to describe the color of the shoe, which came from the song "we gonna make it". The Superblast 2 he went back to the same song and referenced the rhyme " I used the same scale that they weigh the whales with"...brilliant and great rap knowledge!
agree with the "fighting against the stack" comment, as great as this shoe is i wish they offered a plated version too for those that prefer it, similar (but not quite) to how they approach the sky/edge thing
Appreciate the honest review! I just ordered the Skyward X because of your reviews, unfortunately got sent a defective one (exposed carbon is cracked) so I'm still waiting for the replacement.
Love my SB2's in the Paris colorway. They feel good for me in all paces and make running at any pace feel easy. Even tough you feel different about the shoe I enjoyed the video though haha.
I love my superblast but im heavier so i can compress the foam and get the performance out of it. The higher stack softer shoes give me 5th metatarsal pain. The stiff superblast foam protects my legs without bottoming out. They did take about 50 miles to break in though. im excited to try version 2 when my ogs die.
Hey buddy, I'm somewhat heavy too, like 211lb. I'm tempted by the SB2 but I like soft shoes New Balance style. If I may, how heavy are you, and how much of a break-in did you achieve? Thank you! 😊
I'm a 60kg runner and I also like the SB2, it does feel a bit bricky but I feel like I just run more efficiently in it than something like the Novablast 4 no matter what speed I'm doing
At 213 pounds, I am with you on this shoe feeling great. Getting solid compliance without it feeling too firm at all. Just springy, fast, and with enough compliance to be comfy. Perfect companion to the Skyward X, which I am in love with. 2 pairs of each will make for a great year of running!
I’m 235. It took about 30 miles to soften up with my extra weight and at 50 miles they felt really good. At first they did push me to run faster and were a little slappy at slow speeds but now I can even do easy paces in them. My easy day shoe is the kayano 30 and the stiffer super blast are much more comfortable to me. I prefer the Mach x over both though, so that might be a good option too.
@@federicocosta6040I'm not the guy you asked, but I'm about 190. I have just under 100K on my pair, and it never got soft. It got softER at about 50K, and then softER again at about 80, but it's still firm. I'm also a slower runner, but I did find that I was getting more pop out of them when I run faster than 6:30/K, even before they broke in
Yeah man, Superblast 1 doesnt work for me either and I have the exact same feeling you have fighting against the foam. I have like 140 miles in them and I just dont want to run in them anymore. Skyward X is a much better cruiser imo even at the heavier weight. I also have a narrow foot and a specifically narrow heel on my left side and no matter what I do, the upper is never fully locked down. I hate it lol
Bro bro bro! Great news! Adidas Adizero Evo SL! 🔥🔥🔥 i think you will love it and be most bang for your buck! Man i think you can use it from daily training to racing! Get that 200 dollar brick out of here!
First review I've seen on the SB2 thats negative on it, which isn't a problem I love all your reviews regardless! I'm curious though as to what it is in your running mechanics that doesn't mesh with a shoe that so many other people love. For me personally they've been a game changer for my long runs, although they did take some time to break in (lol) which I do agree isn't ideal but they are in a super sweet spot for me now.
I've got the same SB2 colorway. Was the only one available in my size. Regardless, I'm glad I got it. First run in it was 20mi with mile tempo reps. I didn't love it so much during the initial warmup/easy miles because the stack height made me a little nervous. Once I hit the tempo reps, and quit worrying about it the shoe started screaming. I really dig it. I'd buy it again.
I agree that it´s an elevated DT. I like it, it is very satsifying, like many a slightly firmer shoe. (Puma DN2 is another great example.) SB speed assistance does not feel super trainer level. I compared it to a beat up pair of Endo speed 3´s and that ES3 gave more kick on toe off. But there is something realiable and confidence inspiring about the SB. Maybe it is that u subconsciously compare it to a DT. Anyway, I love it like everybodu but u. My point is, I like that differing opinion. U are consistent!
I think durability is also in the conversation. My SB1s have over 400 miles and still feel they have life in them. I waited till my local running store got the 2s last week and I’m looking forward to getting 400 in these.
After 310ish miles over 2 pairs of different size Superblast 1, I never found it’s sweet spot. Had some good runs had some awful runs. Clunky and slow paces too much shoe at fast paces weird geometry and poor fit (for me ) I figured the geometry set up probably just doesn’t suit me. The hype also makes me dislike them a little more than I should. Annnnnnddd the foam lost it’s “magic” at 250 miles and became soft and squishy.. deduct the alleged break in miles and it’s even less of a sell. Overrated shoe for me although it clearly works well for a lot of people.
I can relate. I own the SB1 and only been running for 8 months. It didn’t start to feel good until after 100miles. With you being an experienced runner, I completely agree with you about the price range and versatility. I have 180miles on it now and it feels really good. I’m slow lol, I’m a 13/12min pace on recovery days, 11min easy days, and 8-9min for threshold training. Since folks didn’t like your review. They definitely won’t like mines lol. It was tough to break it in but it became better. It made me a better runner. I’m SLOW….. no excuses. It’s a shoe, ima run. My money, my problems 😂
Easily my favorite shoe to run in this year and I have a bunch of them (luckily I work at a place that allows me to get these). I always respect when people don’t go with the wave and give out their own feel for the shoe and it works for them. That’s why we’re here in the first place, to have some dialogue. Keep up the work dude, your consistency is inspiring!
This is not a shoe for me--I'm nowhere near a level at which using such a shoe would provide any benefit--but I have found coverage and discussion of it to be fascinating, perhaps more for what it says about current approaches to branding/marketing, internet culture, and mass and individual psychology than for actual substantive discussion of the shoe itself.
The value for me of the SB2 is the durability. My NB v4 is 200KM in and 50% of the outsole is gone, smooth. It was a nice ride but I'll probably retire it at 400Km or maybe less. My Clifton 8 which I use for slow ploddy runs is 300KM in and outsole is gone and would be retired to walking duty. Now the SB2 is around 150KM but the outsole has very2 minimal wear and only if you look closely. So if the SB2 last say 600KM where people are saying even more, then thats the value for me of not buying a new shoe every 300/400KM. I am a heavy runner so might be why I'm destroying outsoles at a faster rate but it might also be why I really like the feel of the SB2 midsole. Now my Boston12, I should change my car tires to Continental :)
I disagree with everything you said 😂 Still loved the video and watched it all! Keep it up Mate! Stop hating on the SB2 or people will come after you 😂😂
You make me lough a lot with your sense of humor 😂😂😂😂😂😂 As you sat on your porch I imagine you really have the feeling to through it over your yard 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 And don’t get me wrong, I love the Asics Superblast OG 🙇♂️🙌 Amazing shoe in my eyes but I know also that you‘re saying no to the shoe and not no to me personally 🙏😃😍 I still love your spirit even if we have a different opinion about a particular pair of shoes. But I know for every person that are feeling offended by your opinion get it wrong because they take it personally when you actually saying no to the shoe and not no to the people. But some people are confuse with that. For the people that feel offended in general you have to realize that you aren’t your thoughts and emotions. You‘re the conscious within the feelings and emotions will occur and they will also disappear again after while 🙏🙇♂️ In my opinion the people feel offended because they think they‘re their emotions and feelings but they don’t 🙏 For that kind of construct I love the philosophy spirituality 🙏🙌
Agreed. I recently ordered Superblast 2 and have run in them less than 80 miles. Well, although there's no magic wand type of running shoes, I am a little disappointed because Superblast 2 needs more miles and time to break in than I had expected. Not bouncy at all. (Yeah...maybe I've been too spoiled by carbon plated shoes.) Hope I'll like it in any time soon. 😑
I sent my pair back, because I didn’t like the feel and I don’t want to risk the money just hoping they will improve. I’m a smaller runner and that might make a difference. But, I made this comment on another channel and got some push back. People are very defensive about this shoe for some reason. Thanks for talking about your honest opinion!
I may be one of the only people on the internet who hasn’t gotten along with the SB2. I haven’t given up on them yet (only 25 miles in) and hoping they do “break in” eventually.
It's obvious that Yowana was going to trash this wonderful shoe during the prolog...I respect his opinion of this versatile shoe and highlights how everyone can experience a shoe very differently based upon need and style
An older shoe I think you should try is the Magic Speed 3. I personally like it a lot, it’s light has a really nice rocker and I would compare it to a Takumi Sen with a different foam for sure. You probably don’t need anymore shoes but just a suggestion. Thanks big bro love the vids.
Coming through with the high level perspective and opinion. I think it's beloved because it gives the feel of a carbon shoe but isn't one. People want to feel good about the performance boost without a plate. I agree with you that it's only got 1 gear and I believe is overhyped.
an hour of complaints about the superblast is a red flag on the shoe reviewing skills. said the ride was not smooth after saying it locked him in at the same pace all run... he was right about the boston 12 early and i usually agree with him but this one was a miss. im a heavier runner 200 and i love these shoes. ive bought the highend nikes and adidas and they can't compare to the engineering in the superblast. zoomx dies quick and nikes are heavy. lightstrike pro is amazing but i save carbon for performances. asics is working magic over there, protection and bounce without sinking into the foam bravo. light weight, max superfoam and well over 500km.... the superblast are so good people should buy them for the resale market
Yeah I felt he was super biased going in to this review. The vast majority of people really really like this shoe, and that says something. Saying it has no bounce or smoothness makes no sense to me at all. Hype or not, it's a tremendous shoe for me and I run a lot. It's cool to hate on a hyped shoe i guess?
Good review. Seems fair and well-considered, lays out the reviewer's relevant individual wants and needs from the product, and provides enough info to allow me to come to some preliminary judgment about how the product might work for me (or not). To me that's what a good review should do. @supwell one thing I'm curious about though: there are a lot of other shoes that you've described as being highly optimized for use for one type of run, making them less than versatile. What is it about this shoe's lack of ability to switch gears that is particularly problematic? Is it the cost? Its market positioning as a 'super trainer'? Is it much worse in its performance/feel at paces other than its sweet spot compared to other shoes? I'd like to know more about what makes it a particularly unworkable shoe for you.
first the sb 1, than the sc trainer v3 and now the sb 2 is getting trashed lol man is choosing every popular shoe to hate on. good review but sb 2 imo is still the best shoe of the year.
Just had my first run in the Puma MagMax on what should have been a slow easy run. Ended up running a PB on my normal route …felt sure I was running easy but these gigantic heavyweights want you to run faster .
I felt the same way about the SB1. It was my long run shoe last year for marathon training and I was not a fan. Logged maybe 150 miles on them but never once laced them back up after the marathon. Will be skipping the SB2 for sure.
Definitely seems like there is a certain tuning of PEBA foam you don’t get along with bro. I love the ES4 and the SB1 ultimately bc the midsole feel is similar to me. So it’s pretty believable this shoe doesn’t work for you. People should just accept that dawg lol
Superblast1 worked better for heavier runners, we can get more pop from the midsole then a lightweight. is this the issue you face being under i guess 70kg? you unable to get more from the shoe?
The ep4 is more of a speed training shoe. Or atleast built more for faster people. The super blast handles slower pace better. As a training shoe the superblast 2 is better because its not trying to propel you as much.
I’m at 100 miles in my sb2 and I agree with everything u said. Clunky. No rocker. Etc. Honestly the only reason I’m at 100 miles is because they were so damn expensive and trying to use it as much as I can lol.
superblast 1 is really a weird shoe, with 150km in mine I still don't love them, something doesn't work fine, maybe the foam is not soft enough, not sure...

@@federicocosta6040 I normally use SB and just retired it after getting SB2 (400+ km used). And just got 1080 for recovery day, running with full foot stride feeling super soft like running on cloud 😂
bro can't wait to watch review of adios pro 4 and evo SL
And the Adios 9
that's the colorway i want, 100%. love this first run review, lol. "it's fitting"
I‘m knowing the Pat Tillmann Foundation from David Goggins and I highly respect that 🙏💪
You‘re the men dude 🔥💪
Trash juice is illegal. The trucks have to be sealed on bottom and sides by law in all states.
The Superblast 2 he went back to the same song and referenced the rhyme " I used the same scale that they weigh the whales with"...brilliant and great rap knowledge!
agree with the "fighting against the stack" comment, as great as this shoe is i wish they offered a plated version too for those that prefer it, similar (but not quite) to how they approach the sky/edge thing
there's the magic speed 4 that might be worth looking into (not quite a plated superblast but it might do the job)
Appreciate the honest review! I just ordered the Skyward X because of your reviews, unfortunately got sent a defective one (exposed carbon is cracked) so I'm still waiting for the replacement.
Thank you Yowana.

I was expecting SB2 to go up in price. Release price of SB1 was $220.
Watching this before all the AP4 reviews
I think durability is also in the conversation. My SB1s have over 400 miles and still feel they have life in them. I waited till my local running store got the 2s last week and I’m looking forward to getting 400 in these.
Everyone will have their own preferences. However, I've found that I like shoes that you recommend, so I won't be buying the Superblast.
This is not a shoe for me--I'm nowhere near a level at which using such a shoe would provide any benefit--but I have found coverage and discussion of it to be fascinating, perhaps more for what it says about current approaches to branding/marketing, internet culture, and mass and individual psychology than for actual substantive discussion of the shoe itself.
wasn’t prepared for you to cut such an intense promo about your hoodie
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and analysis with us 😎
The value for me of the SB2 is the durability.
Stop hating on the SB2 or people will come after you 😂😂
I appreciate your review. What is the point to have an opinion if it's the same as everyone else?
You‘re the conscious within the feelings and emotions will occur and they will also disappear again after while 🙏🙇♂️
In my opinion the people feel offended because they think they‘re their emotions and feelings but they don’t 🙏
For that kind of construct I love the philosophy spirituality 🙏🙌
Fire colourway!
i enjoyed the video a lot, many hidden gems of wisdom........
If you’re looking for bounce the Balos is crazy ! Love that shoe
Neo Vista
@Aron-t6m Yup, I've also been in love with Mizuno Neovista. Today, I logged 9.05 miles in them. 😉😊
Finally superblast Review🔥
I sent my pair back, because I didn’t like the feel and I don’t want to risk the money just hoping they will improve. I’m a smaller runner and that might make a difference. But, I made this comment on another channel and got some push back. People are very defensive about this shoe for some reason. Thanks for talking about your honest opinion!
You're safe here 😂
That Bradley Beal comparison is wildddd 🤣😂 Waste Pro was out here trying to pick up them trash shoes 😂
I skipped ahead. Just wanted to know if you liked the shoe
But this shoe dont make fun and not everybody have 200 weight. There are much other shoes the provide more fun
@@Talos353 It might just be the FF Turbo+. He also said that the Edge Paris has no bounce, while it's an absolutely volatile shoe for me.
It’s interesting how you don’t like this but like the Novablast. Do you find the geometry very different?
Do you plan on review Adistar 3? Heard pretty good reviews and it's 130 usd but I need confirmation from the ultimate hobby jogger
first the sb 1, than the sc trainer v3 and now the sb 2 is getting trashed lol man is choosing every popular shoe to hate on. good review but sb 2 imo is still the best shoe of the year.
Just had my first run in the Puma MagMax on what should have been a slow easy run. Ended up running a PB on my normal route …felt sure I was running easy but these gigantic heavyweights want you to run faster .
Feels validating… I absolutely hated the SB2 and can’t stop reaching for my Skyward X - Love my NB4s and my Magic Speed 3s but I cannot stand the SB2.
Yeah I felt it in the Asics store out here in Manila. The foam is super hard.
I felt the same way about the SB1. It was my long run shoe last year for marathon training and I was not a fan. Logged maybe 150 miles on them but never once laced them back up after the marathon. Will be skipping the SB2 for sure.
Bro, you killin me with the British accent LOL
ASICS has a pretty good discount program
Spoiler blocker
7’20” for 10 miles BANG
Finally 🎉
Looking for another non plated trainer. Was leaning superblast 2 but I don't know if a 13 will be slightly too tight. Also considering triumph 21.
Definitely seems like there is a certain tuning of PEBA foam you don’t get along with bro. I love the ES4 and the SB1 ultimately bc the midsole feel is similar to me.
So it’s pretty believable this shoe doesn’t work for you. People should just accept that dawg lol
Slow day today the Chipotle hit me like a truck but I said hey boy little boy (not really) you can run even if you don’t feel like it
Superblast1 worked better for heavier runners, we can get more pop from the midsole then a lightweight. is this the issue you face being under i guess 70kg? you unable to get more from the shoe?
I think he said he's 165 lb, which is ~75 kg
What do you like instead of for long miles training for marathon?
Your HR was higher on the run today than from the previous 10 miler. Was that in part from the Superblast 2?
The watch heart rate tracking isn't always accurate. It was probably tracking my cadence on the run with the superblast
Odd lecture about price considering you love the skyward X, but ok
5:39
The "Superturd" finally tested 😂
