    Billy Summers at the moment, is the only Stephen King book within a 30 minute radius of my house. My neighbouring town has many, though. All used. And in mint condition

    I started reading this exactly a week ago from today and I have only 120 pages left and I thinks it’s a fantastic story! Definitely not my favorite but it’s also definitely not the least favorite I’ve read but who knows maybe the ending will make me love it more. I also love the little bit of Kings Dominion in it, it’s always something I look forward to.

    • @DaveReadsKing

      @@DaveReadsKing I just finished it today and I have to say the ending made me love this book, and like you said it made me want to go back to page 1!! It felt so much like 11/22/63 and I loved that book, reading this one just felt nostalgic to back when I read 11/22/63. Now I’m starting The Stand and as we all know it’s is quite beefy. Any advice on how to stick to it and finish it to the end and not abandon it half way through? I hope it’s action packed so I won’t have to worry but if you have any advice I would love to hear it!

    • @DaveReadsKing
      @DaveReadsKing  2 роки тому +3

      @@colemeyer379 the first and third 'books' of The Stand are great - really action-packed and excellent. It's the middle one that is tough...lots of committee meetings and soap-opera style dramas. But, just know that it picks up again later on and where you end up is worth the sticky patch in the middle!

    Billy Summers was superb, and King's best novel for ages. Not even the scores of unnecessary Trump digs (that add nothing to the plot) ruin what is a magical little story. It has three parts: the build up, which is deliberately slow and designed to lull you into a placid state just like the antagonist; the assassination and resulting chaos; then the entrance of a new female character that changes the plot completely. Themes of trauma, multiple personalities, righteous vengeance and platonic love abound.

    • @DaveReadsKing

      The Stand is pretty much a “foundation” novel itself, not really one you need to read others before, but rather one which later novels will connect back to.

    hello im currently reding billy summers. the first few chapters were a drag. and now im on chapter 16 currenlty and im enjoying it. but one thing keeps besetting my mind. i get the point that billy disappears like"houdini" after his every contract kills. what i dint like was why was he put in a disguise for so long and making it' obvious' to everryone that he ws the shooter. and why did he diguise himself as colin white while escaping the building after the shot, after-all the tenants do know where the shot came from, so why the trouble? i thought it was bit far fetched, or i maybe wrong but why not make it a succinct one without raising ay flags or attention . could anyone please explain it to me without spoiling anything further. 😂sorry fro my english. thank you.

    God, this book sucks. I never had such hard times to read a book.
    Mentions Trump 20 times, seems like an add for Amazon, plays with neighboors kids and eats every 4 other sentences. Thats all i've got for the first 200 pages.
    Also what is a potato buster ? Lol
    Or ' bodalicious booty'....is this even English ? Silly old man,King
    I saw the plot and the so called twists from the beginning , Alice was just a lame excuse to change the gear and drag the story more and more....and after what happened to her its so childish the way she acts right after.....
    Glad you liked it

      Thanks for commenting. I agree with you on the Amazon references, although I guess that's always been part of King's writing - really capturing and embedding modern culture, and most of us probably do just go on there now. I also didn't mind the Trump bashing - he deserves it imo - but I know it does grate with some. Appreciate you checking out the video!
