I devoured this book in about 2 days. Loved it and all the nods/easter egg type moments and even the final revelation was unexpected but interesting. Possibly the best new King novel in recent memory. Now, to wait until August for Billy Summers.
Yep, it's definitely up there out of his recent ones...probably my favourite since Revival. Roll on August!

@@DaveReadsKing Roll on one! ☺
I just found your channel it looks like I’m going to have a long night watching all your videos 🤭 I absolutely love Stephen King great review new subscriber 😁
Fantastic! Thanks so much - and welcome!
I really enjoyed this book, didn’t quite like the conclusion of who his dad was but that didn’t ruin it for me. I love his description of Liz when she’s on the junk it’s just so realistic I can just picture in my head what she looked like and how she was acting and that was quite possibly the most chilling part of the story for me because of how real it was. Overall happy with this book definitely one of his better new ones, can’t wait for August the description sounds kind of like a book he has never written before!
Awesome, glad you enjoyed Later - roll on August!
yeah me too. The book was good. But that dad part.. :(
@@geetvin same. Thought the dad part was too much
Really pleased to hear you bigging this one up so much. I own it but haven't got round to reading it yet. I will now reposition at the top of my TBR!
Just finished The Institute, saw this was his next NOVEL he did, so just got the audible. Excited! I'm a big fan of horror, and, have found that most of the King I've read isn't horror at all. So excited for this one.
Nice one! His more recent stuff definitely has less of a horror vibe - if you want the gruesome stuff then check out his 70s and 80s work
Great review. I’m really enjoying this book so far and love the little references to kings past books
Nice! Enjoy the rest of it and thanks for the comment!
@@DaveReadsKing finished today and that ending really came out of nowhere
@@aimeew2063 it really does, doesn't it??
Hi Dave and thank you for the calm and nice review! I just read it and did my own review, so I`m jumping from channel to channel to see what others thought of Later. It is so interesting to see that we all have read the same book and have so many thoughts and feelings that are exactly the same, while each and every one of us still emphasize different things that they were mostly attracted to.
And I really don`t see a problem when you also review a new book, it is still King :)
Thank you! I will check out your review later this evening 👌
@@DaveReadsKing You will check it out Later. Ok, haha 😁
Good review. Already ordered it. Looking forward to reading it.
Nice! Enjoy! 😊
Nice review! Haven't read the book yet. I am curently reading The Stand and then I'l read Misery so... I'l need some time.
Thank you! Yes, if you’re reading The Stand you’ll be there a while! Enjoy Later when you get there 😊
I honestly really enjoyed this! Thought it was super cool. I sped through it. I’m not understanding the dislike for many 😂
Yes the bloody mission it was to obtain this
Haters gonna hate
@@readbybeth9300 oh God, Amazon totally fucked it didn't they?
Nice review Dave. Prime King for me, cracking story, so good you can even forgive that end bit. Really doesn't suit the Hard Case style, but who cares (I'm sure they dont)with books and covers this good!
You know it!
I've had lots of issues with books through Amazon, the last two releases from Junji Ito never even arrived and I had to order from else where.
That's not good - you'd definitely expect. I'll be using my local bookstore from now on
I will be reading this book next year I need to finish the dark tower series and firestarter and needful things 😀🙂😉☺️
Nice!
Does this book spoil any other King books?
It doesn’t spoil any, no - there’s just one thing in Later than also appears in another of his novels that you won’t get the full understanding of if you’ve not read the other one...if that makes sense? But you can definitely go ahead and read Later and not worry about ruining other stuff!
I really enjoyed Later I recently heard that it's being adapted into a movie starring Lucy Liu I can't wait to watch it 😊🙂🤗
Yeah, I saw that announcement too - a miniseries I think? Should be cool!
Will you review the bill hodges trilogy please
Yep, definitely - that video should be live late august I think
Just finished reading this the other day, and it's unfortunately gone into my bottom three SK books of all time. There didn't really seem to be a complete story there, the characters were dull and pretty much all unlikeable, and it just never got going for me. The ending was unnecessary too. I thought there was a decent premise in there, but it just felt disjointed, and I couldn't really get into it. The writing style didn't really feel like King either. Other than 'those' references, if someone had handed me a copy without telling me who wrote it, I would have guessed Dean Koontz way before guessing it was a King book. Coincidentally, I thought Koontz handled the 'I see dead people' schtick much better with Odd Thomas, but that's a debate for another day. 'Later' is a one star book for me, I'm afraid.
Fair enough - you know me, I like to hear other people’s opinions. I’ll have to take your word on Koontz - I’ve only read the one with the scrabble dog from him
@@DaveReadsKing I would definitely recommend 'Intensity' by him. By far, my favourite book of his.
@@StewartyMac nice, thanks!
I loved the book till the end……
Fair...it's definitely an ending that has divided plenty!
Just my opinion, but if his last coupla books are anything to go buy, it seems that he has moved away from the horror and is concentrating more now on ordinary mainstream books. I don't like that. I would much prefer him writing horror again. Fairytale and the Hodges trilogy bored me senseless, for example.
I’m with you on Fairy Tale. I have high hopes for his new collection though!
Couldn’t agree more with your feelings about the “twist” ending. It was off putting and felt entirely unnecessary. The tie in to the classic King book was exciting and I couldn’t put it down after that revelation. I want to say more, but don’t want to thwart your efforts to not spoil anything. Well done, Dave. Always enjoy your content.
Thank you!
Wow spoiler free yet mention theres a twist ending. Do people not realise that's a spoiler in itself
@@matthewbishop8395 Hey dude. Sorry if that was too close to spoiling. I hope you didn’t watch the vid though cause Dave gives away a lot more of the plot that my comment did.
I didn't enjoyed later, left me wanting more
Surely you enjoyed it *a bit* if you wanted more??
