    It's like he didn't even remember how the Scrambler Icon rode. This bike has has all the same characteristics as the base Scrambler model. I hope he updates his dialogue and be more consistent on bike descriptions across bike platforms.

    I've been eyeing this bike for a while waiting for release. I want it for the same reasons that you did. 85% on-road 15% off-road. Can't wait to ride one myself. Thank you for the review!

    i think this bike looks amazing, probably one of my favorite looking bikes ive ever seen. i love the styling of it it looks like u mixed a scrambler cafe racer with a supermoto and i love that. also has a bit of mad max feel to your nice clean bike.

    The bars are high and the foot brake is low because it's meant to be ridden stood up off road, on the trails. Very nice looking bike that....... would have been better if it was more torquey.

    • @DanDennedy
      @DanDennedy 7 років тому

      The brake is low because it was not adjusted. When riding off road, no, you don't want to have to angle your feet downward too much and risk slipping on the pegs.

      Its a dort bike style rear brake, if you watch some videos on dirtbike rearbrakes you take your foot off the peg to use them. Its a whole different world. I dont think they should use it on a street bike

    great review as always-been waiting for you to get on this. funny: i have a WR250x and a 72 CB750, and have been lusting after this one as a kind of fusion of what i love about both bikes. being able to tool around town, hit the twisties, weave around on a highway, and then hit a trail or two-sounded like the dream. but my impression after riding this last week was really similar-it just didn't quite blow my WR away like i thought it would, and i found myself craving more of that grin-inducing power. of something. still can't put my finger on it. that said, it's a pretty killer all around bike.

    My wife and I own Scramblers (I have the Icon version of what you're riding in this video and she owns the Sixty2). We take them EVERYWHERE; for example, we just finished 800 miles from Los Angeles, up through a section of California called the Carrizo Plain to the Central Coast, and back down Hwy 1 back to LA. In EVERY condition, both bikes performed way above expectations - especially on the dirt roads we had no idea we were going to encounter. In fact, I love the bike and it's versatile enough that I parted with my trusty, old 2004 Vstrom 1000. For what you outlined as your wish list, this will fit the bill.

    I heard they may have changed the mapping to be a little less aggressive and that they changed the throttle cam on them to smooth out the throttle because it was too jerky before. I have an original Icon and it had a little too much aggressive torque for me at first so I actually put a throttle tamer on it. Might try to get an in between cam soon.

    also, you should look into finding some dirt road (even a grave type fireroad or jeep trail? Not hard core, but at least some dirt for these off-roady bikes. As far as taking these expensive bike off roads, I have seen videos of people with Scramblesrs (non desert sled) and jumping them off road, along with african twins, etc).

    the reason it feels less powerfull is the modified throttle tube. It's the same engine with the same power output.
    Changing the tube is a very cheap and easy modification.

    • @russcole5685

      What is the needed modification to be done to the tube,. Lengthen, shorten??

    • @dnzrdm
      @dnzrdm 2 роки тому +1

      @@russcole5685 buy a throttle tube with a different cam profile. 2015 scrambler profile is the most aggressive one. Than there are profiles G2 ergonomics makes that are still pretty aggressive but more manageable and 2017+ scrambler tubes are by far the mildest ones.

    • @russcole5685
      @russcole5685 2 роки тому

      @@dnzrdm awesome,. Thanks,. Been researching as very interested in getting myself this desert sled. But hearing that there's a lack of bottom end torque is about the only thing holding me back. Sounds they need a Cam change and better induction tube. Thanks for your advice. And Hello from little New Zealand

    • @dnzrdm
      @dnzrdm 2 роки тому +1

      @@russcole5685 np. The power is there. It's just that the throttle delivers it very gently in the first half. It actually comes very in handy in tricky off-road situations but it does feel a bit boring on the highway. Easy to solve thankfully.

    • @russcole5685
      @russcole5685 2 роки тому

      @@dnzrdm Nice,. Thanks again. Hoping to make it my Xmas present to myself at the end of the year. There's a couple of very nice second hand examples on the local trade sites here in the NZ,. At 5'6" with a 30" in seam,. It may be a little tall for me,. But still easier to get a leg over than a full on adventure bike.

    Not that you're looking for this anymore, but for around the same price, or less, you can get a Triumph Tiger 850 Sport or Tiger Rally 900 that will be a nice cruiser on road, and the Rally Pro even gives you Heated seats, grips, bluetooth, etc, and you can take it off road quite a bit. I'd prefer the KTM 890 Adventure myself or the Husqy 901 NOrden.
