  • The 1992 Luxembourgish national final was held on March 15, 1992, and broadcast on the Hei Elei, Kuck Elei show on RTL, Luxembourg’s national broadcaster. The national final only lasted for 7 minutes.
Marion Welter was internally selected and performed 2 songs in the national final; “So frai” (So free) and “Iwerall doheem” (Everywhere at home).
The winning song was chosen by postcard voting from the viewers who watched the show. On March 22, the winning song was announced to be “Sou frai,” which received 51% of the postcard votes, meaning Welter would sing that song in Målmo, Sweden, where the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest would take place.
The 1992 Eurovision Song Contest was held on May 9, and Luxembourg was set to perform as the 14th song out of 23. Welter was joined by the group Kontinent for her performance.
At the close of the voting, Luxembourg placed 21st out of 23, with only 10 points, which all came from Malta. Until 2024, this was Luxembourg’s second last participation in the Eurovision Song Contest.

    Hi Jej,
I’m aware that you’ve already contacted RTP surrounding Eurovision 1964, but I thought I would do it again due to how cryptic their comment appeared to be. Once again, I got a very cryptic comment. The translated email I received back stated,
“We appreciate your email, which deserved our best attention.
We inform you that RTP does not protect the total rights to license to third parties or to publish the requested content on digital platforms.
You should contact Eurovision, the entity with the rights.”
I specifically asked in the original email to state whether they still possessed a recording regardless of if they could distribute it, which they did not respond to. Do you still believe there’s hope for Eurovision 1964 from Portugal?

I think that if RTP could had a copy, they just already show it (actually they show ALL their Festivais da Canção that they have available on RTP Arquivos)

@@yeoldemusik1 I think the difference is that RTP made the Festivais da Canção, and therefore they own the rights. I can't find ANY of actual Eurovision on the RTP Arquivos, except for 2018 for some reason. Please let me know if I am not seeing it, but I beliebe this is also because of rights issues (or at least what RTP sees as issues). This tells me that they most likely have Eurovision recordings they haven't released. I agree that it's not likely that they have 1964, but I'm still trying to get a yes/no confirmation from them today.

@@yeoldemusik1 Also the fact that they kept every single Festival da Canção since 1964 except one tells me they were very good at archiving these types of shows. One can have hope.

@@yeoldemusik1 No luck :( They clarified they don't have a copy in their archive. I can speculate that it might be under a different name than what I used (maybe should have checked closer), but I think that's just me being too optimistic.

@@treverthetree I told you so: If they could have a copy, they would show it. They are clear about the archives that they have and they don't have, for example, the copies of Festivais da Canção 1966, 1973, 1975, 1977 and 1981 are lost in their entire form (there are just fragments of the winning songs/top3 -in 1966 case-) and when someone asked for that they are clear to say "we don't have it", also it happen with Eurovision 1964 copies ☹️☹️
