Rigi Bahnen - Cog Railway

Welcome to the wonderful world of Rigi Bahnen, one of the world's great railways. Mount Rigi, Queen of the Mountains in Switzerland hosts not one but two cog railways to a point near the summit known as Rigi Klum, 1752 Metres above sea level. Both of these systems operate on standard gauge and are the highest standard gauge railways in the world. Rigi Bahnen was the first cog railway in the world when it opened in 1871.
Towering over Lake Luzern (Lucern), Mount Rigi and Rigi Bahnen is an extraordinary railway challenge. Operating from a base at the small town Vitznau, the Rigi Bahnen conquers gradients of 25% winding around the mountain with views of spectacular scenery. A journey on this railway is unforgettable.
