What a great man to do something like this that will keep his legacy in tact. I had the fortunate luck of meeting Liberace in NYC after a Madison Square Garden event in 1957. I was 7 years old and we were having dinner at the spindle top restaurant in NYC. Liberace was at the next table with a friend and my mom said look son there's Liberace. I asked her if I could get his autograph and she walked over first after he was finished with dinner and he signaled me to come over. He asked me what my name was and signed a table menu placard that was the waiters card for how you wanted your steak prepared. The back was just a white blank so it was perfect for his autograph and a note he wrote. I still have the autograph in my office today framed and in view for anyone who comes in to see. I'm glad that his home is being restored and his memory is being relived through the work of such diligent people who valued his contributions to the city and the music world 60 years after I had the pleasure of meeting him one evening.
I am so glad that someone saw how important this is to our history. No matter whether you like him or not, Liberace was an original, amazing performer, and big part of old Vegas. Great job!!
I love the idea of replacing the pool with the performance room. after touring the house in the mid 90's, was so sad to see it had been left empty. Many thanks to the gentleman that saved it, and for Clark County as making it a designated historic piece of local history.
It’s no longer original and modified from the way it once was. Apparently Ted Turner’s brother who later acquired the property filled the swimming pool with concrete. None of Liberace’s cars are kept there and are now at some automotive museum. Scott Thorson, Liberace’s long time lover was dispensed with by Liberace after he found a newer replacement lover and is currently back in jail until later this year because he breached his parole conditions. The new owner and his two pooches are now residents in Liberace’s closet and live there like caretakers to look after the place on a permanent basis.
Me too! As a child, I remember my parents watching reruns of his shows. What a kind and humble man. Also, I later had the pleasure of working security for him in Atlantic City at Resorts Hotel & Casino. I was assigned to stand guard outside his suite. He came back to his suite after his evening show w his mgr. and other staff. He walked directly to me, said hello and asked if had dinner. I said yes, but he still asked if I would like room service. I said no because I could get fired. He then turned to his manager and said if she changes her mind you get her whatever she wants. He said it’s nice to meet you have a good evening and he walked in his room, I’ll never forget it as long as I live. PS I asked if I could see his piano ring along with his others. those rings were so stunning in person you have no idea.
Wow, after just watching a video showing the Mansion in disrepair this is wonderful to see. Thank you so much for buying this property and restoring it to Liberace's unique taste. 😃👍
I knew someone would save it. Good. I got tickets to see him back in the 70s, as kind of a joke. No one thought I'd go. I went and took my little boy. Liberace was fabulous and my kid became a musician.
I am beyond thrilled that his home has been restored. Last I saw it was in disrepair. I bet Liberace is looking down with a smile on his face. TY for restoring his home!
Thank you so very much Mr. Ravenhill for restoring and preserving this beautiful Liberace landmark/home. Such a shame that all his family cared about was taking his money by auctioning and selling off the furnishings before you could decide what to keep in the home for historical legacy.
so happy you did this! i was in in tears when i saw how run down it had become. Liberace was bigger than life and seemed to be such a nice gentleman from a bygone era. thankyou sir!
Back in 1984 my wife and I were living in Melbourne Australia. We went to see him perform that Saturday evening. It was a show like no other . and despite the cost of the tickets, I have no regrets in paying for them. It was an evening to remember and he played encore after encore . I think we all flew high going home. So glad we saw him as we had no idea that in a couple of years he would be deceased. Great man with a huge heart
Thank you Mr. Ravenhill and Clark County for doing this for Lib! I know he is so happy and greatful you have all stepped up and protected him and his legacy! I am greatful! Thank you all!!
The last I had seen the place was deserted and left to rot. Its nice that someone stepped up to restore it, though I am surprised that no one in the entertainment industry lifted a finger to help save it. I wish the new owner much success with it.
Thank you so much for restoring this piece of Liberace's history because it should be saved he was a magnificent pianist and should be revered as such God bless you !!
Mr. Ravenhill is a very fine man to have bought Liberace's home. Mr Liberace was a man with unique talents and a very kind and gentle soul. Mr Ravenhill , thank you very much.
Agent Fungus I just couldn't imagine building a mansion, let alone a home in that gang, drug, crime-infested neighborhood surrounding the UNLV campus and McCarran International Airport.
JMMT7022801 : When Lee restored that mansion was a different time. He never built mansions, always restored those of bygone Hollywood legends. I will always be a Lee fan. Grew up in Milwaukee watching his reruns. I will always treasure my VHS of "Sincerely Yours." Good corny stuff. I met Lee in Downtown Milwaukee in the early 80s. Lee and his people were striding around Downtown Milwaukee during one of his engagements. Visiting the home turf. I think I was going to meet my sister who was working at the old Gimbels at the time. I hesitated because I didn't want to seem a fan. I just said, "Um, Mr Liberace? I've always been a fan..." He lit up, amongst his handlers. He was wearing some silver fox coat. He grabbed my hands (he had huge mitts) and we traded small talk for a minute. He had on heavy make up, but was so full of energy and flashed that Lee smile. I'll never forget that. Damn I didn't get his autograph. At the time, I thought that would be tacky. Damn.
It's nice to see this being done. Liberace was an important entertainer, despite what one might think of the nature of his shows. He was unique, larger than life and he should be remembered for the sake of history. I wish I'd seen his act - what a hoot!
His shows, were just that, a show.....that's what an entertainer is all about, to give the audience fantasy, mystery, glitz....that was his gimmick, people paid big money to see him and he gave his audience their monies worth. Not to forget he was an amazing pianist........this was a wonderful thing they did with his property, its about time.......he was a good person. I hope his soul is in peace and happy that he is appreciated for all he gave to the world of classical music and entertainment.
As a fan of Liberace (because my parents enjoyed him very much) - and a former Las Vegas resident, I am SO happy this happened. The house was in terrible disrepair. It was very sad. THANK YOU to this wonderful man and his plan to bring it back! And, it's wonderful to see city government doing something GOOD for a change. BRAVO! Liberace (I'm sure) is smiling.
Liberace was one of the greatest showmen, if not the greatest showman, to ever exist. The next time I'm down there I would like go on a tour of his mansion. Thank you to the British gentleman who kept the dream alive.
Wonderful! In a town not known for keeping it's history this is amazing. They may wish to do what they do at President Eisenhower's farm in Gettysburg, PA. No one drives to the home at all. You park in a distant lot, buy your ticket and board a bus. Only the bus goes there and only a few times a day.
As a fan of Liberace, it broke my heart when I had seen a UA-cam video of how Liberace's one-time glorious mansion had fallen into serious disrepair. I am so glad that someone cared enough about Liberace's legacy to step in and save this iconic mansion from falling into total devastation until it had to be torn down. Thank you Mr. Ravenhill for honoring the memory of Liberace and restoring his magnificent home!
Having been raised in Las Vegas, I'm very glad to see this. Too many historic buildings have been wiped off the map, only to wind up a rusty sign in a sign company's lot.
Thank you for giving Liberace's legacy a chance. Nobody ever controlled a piano the way he did. He was one of the all time great entertainers and he deserves to be recognized as such.
Thank you for this wonderful restoration! Ever since I learned years ago the something like 90% of all of our silent films were lost, I have become very sensitive to the fact that society's and cultures need to preserve some of these touch stones to our heritage- a wonderful addition to the cause! Would love to be able to go and visit someday...
I remember the ladies of my grandmother's time swooned over his talent and flamboyance. He was a huge entertainer with a sunny personality. He was the highest paid entertainer from the 1950's to the 1970's. He deserves to be remembered like this.
I firmly believe that if the movie "Behind the Candelabra" was never made, Liberace's home would not have been restored. That movie brought back the memories of Liberace that many people were starting to forget. I'm so glad that someone decided to give Liberace's home the restoration that it deserves.
Liberace was definitely over the top. Never saw his Vegas show, but when he was on TV, you knew you would be entertained. A definite one-of-a-kind, no one will replace him, at least not soon.
So glad this has been done. I saw the property a few years ago while in foreclosure. I actually was ab,e to look in the windows....some original details still intact. It's great to see it restored.
Fabulous restoration, I have always been a fan of Liberace since he played on t.v. in the 1950's with the candalabra on his piano. I think he is possibly one of the best entertainers ever on the piano. I always wanted to marry him--oh well. Sleep in peace Lee!
You're a Wonderful man. Thank you for buying this house and bringing it back to it's original beauty. Liberace is looking down on you and admiring all you have done. Blessings to you Sir.
I'm so glad that someone has restored this iconic home. There's another video on UA-cam that shows the dilapidated condition this home was in back in 2011.
Mr. Ravenhill, I want to personally thank you for what you have done to restore this iconic place! Thank you once again! I would absolutely love a tour!
Well im glad to hear that he had the home declared as Historic. Before some fool came along and knocked it down to make way for low income housing, or some other builder grade development. He certainly has a long way to go to furnish the home as opulent as Liberace had it.
I am so pleased to know that there are people in this city that believe in preserving our past, and no destroying it for profit! I'm very excited about this!
Thank you for restoring Liberaces mansion. I saw pictures of how run down it looked for awhile. Liberace was a great entertainer! He had legions of fans. I loved his flair and beautiful smile.
I think Liberace would have been thrilled with his home being a landmark. Liberace should be remembered. He was an important part of history. He paved the way for many, many people in all different ways. He should be celebrated.
Bravo. As a person who walked by this house as a young child and saw Liberace working in his garden, it makes me very happy to see this preserved. Regardless of how you may feel or have felt about Liberace, he was a part of this town in its infancy.
I'm inspired to see that someone cares enough to preserve this historical home with the memories intact. I love piano music more than anything and Liberace was the absolute best. We will all miss him and the beautiful music only he could create.
Well done! Loved this fixerupper! She be magnifique! And how very interesting - loved the developer's new home - the closet!! What a minimalist! :) If I ever do go to Vegas, I will make sure I can go on a tour! I love historical homes, places, palaces, buildings - they have stories to tell.
This is good news. Liberace was so gifted and loved by so many. He got negative press, but he handled it well. No one can deny he had remarkable talent when it came to playing the piano. He was happy in his own skin. Not too many people can say that in today's world.
I remember my parents took me to see Liberace in Las Vegas about 1978. He was so entertaining and magnificent! I was mesmerized by his piano playing. He always seemed like the nicest and fun person!
The person who saved this beautiful artifact should be awarded a Nobel prize or some sort of recognition given to him as he is a real humanitarian.
You obviously know nothing about the Nobel Prize.

So true, it took an outsider to do what the entertainment business should have done a long time ago....
Damn straight!
Shannon Mchenry Absolutely! 😀😄😁
Jon Mclean "Damn straight" I think that must be the first time in history that anything connected with Liberace has been called straight
I am glad too someone finally care. thank you .
My mom (RIP) absolutely LOVED Liberace. Thank you sooo much for saving this piece of our culture.
Thank you sir for doing this. He was a lovely man and entertainer.

Very interesting. This was how he lived. He was a showman and a gentleman. Thank you for preserving some of Las Vegas history.
Glad they did the right thing here with Liberace's Home in Vegas.
Me too! As a child, I remember my parents watching reruns of his shows. What a kind and humble man. Wow, after just watching a video showing the Mansion in disrepair this is wonderful to see. Thank you so much for buying this property and restoring it to Liberace's unique taste. 😃👍
I watched them back to back as well!
I really like Liberace's taste. xx
Same it was such a Shame,,,this is Great
Mr H yes indeed, TY!
I visited when I was a child. I just watched that same video and was sad. But then I saw this and I'm happy once again
I knew someone would save it. Good. I got tickets to see him back in the 70s, as kind of a joke. No one thought I'd go. I went and took my little boy. Liberace was fabulous and my kid became a musician.
Prove It!!
Thank you, sir, for restoring and loving this unique property!
IT'S A GREAT THING THIS MAN DID TO PRESERVE THE LIFE MUSIC AND CAREER OF LIBERACE.
I am beyond thrilled that his home has been restored. Last I saw it was in disrepair. I bet Liberace is looking down with a smile on his face. TY for restoring his home!

The house should have always been open to his public. As he would have said:
'After all you paid for it'
The Commissioners really did the right thing here. They should be happy they even have this in their town, beautiful.
Thank you Mr. Ravenhill and Clark County for doing this for Lib! I know he is so happy and greatful you have all stepped up and protected him and his legacy! I am greatful! Thank you all!!

This man deserves an award or two!!

I saw pictures of it on the internet when it was in disrepair.
God bless that man I can't beleive Vegas would just allow a Legend's home to just decay that way smh
Right???? This makes me so happy. I adored watching him on tv. There will never be another Liberace.
It's nice to see this being done. Liberace was an important entertainer, despite what one might think of the nature of his shows. He was unique, larger than life and he should be remembered for the sake of history. I wish I'd seen his act - what a hoot!
What was the nature of his shows that one might think something of?
Flamboyant, frilly and over-the-top fabulous!
His shows, were just that, a show.....that's what an entertainer is all about, to give the audience fantasy, mystery, glitz....that was his gimmick, people paid big money to see him and he gave his audience their monies worth. cybersoil100 you need to plan in advance as you just can't show up and ring the bell.
Wonderful that Lee’s home will be restored...
The greatest in Las Vegas in the 60/70s maybe, but then only a crusty old flamboyant entertainment for all people ;) muahah
It would be great to see. I suppose the British gentleman will try to finish it. Then open it to visitors for a price. Thank you for restoring it.
Beautiful restoration! So happy someone appreciated him and his talent. Elegant.
I watched his program when I was about 6 years old every time I could. this is great America thanks you.
Wonderful! In a town not known for keeping it's history this is amazing. They may wish to do what they do at President Eisenhower's farm in Gettysburg, PA. No one drives to the home at all. Liberace was an early TV star - he had millions of fans and was a fantastic showman.

Im glad that someone brought it to restore. Lots of beautiful things inside.....
My mother always loved watching him perform. Unlike now days he was first and always a entertainer.

Good for you Mr.Ravenhill, well done!
Bravo. As a person who walked by this house as a young child and saw Liberace working in his garden, it makes me very happy to see this preserved. Regardless of how you may feel or have felt about Liberace, he was a part of this town in its infancy.

Excellent job of recreating this home. I'm sure Liberace would be so proud! It's great news.
This is wonderful news! I am so glad that Liberace's home has Clark County's historic designation and will be preserved.

Awesome restoration in memory of a great entertainer. Thank you Mr. Ravenhill!
I would love to walk through every inch of this mansion!! God bless you! Thanks for sharing!
I remember my parents took me to see Liberace in Las Vegas about 1978. He was so entertaining and magnificent! I was mesmerized by his piano playing. He always seemed like the nicest and fun person!
