I understand why some of the most expensive, secured and exclusive communities are built at the base of mountains, but for me that would be a nightmare. Living that close to coyotes and mountain lions, along with various species of scorpions and spiders is not my idea of a good time.
Builders always spray, which keeps critters away for about the first decade. A coyote may come around, but that's more about leaving your pets wandering around at night.
My aunt lives in The Ridges and she rarely sees coyotes. She does have the occasional scorpion though. I have cleaned a few houses in there and every house has a trap in all the corners for scorpions. I have actually seen more coyotes closer in town.
@@jenniferquirk3485 Anywhere with a Wash nearby tends to gather scorpions in droves. But again, builders treat the soil; so it starts losing its luster at about the 10 year mark. The Ridges have been around for over 20 years. Whereas, these fancy new neighborhoods have all been recently treated.
I have a house in LV and a built out area in San Diego. In LV, I have never seen a mountain lion, a coyote or a scorpion but I do see a few spiders - in SD, I see coyotes at least once a month and lots of spiders, many are black widows.
