This house is gorgeous! Love the Queen Anne style. It is utterly amazing how they crafted these homes back in the day. They had style back then and things were meant to stand the test of time. Today's style is ordinary and boring. Give me the old days and an eye for detail any day over the modern styling! Love the show!
Well, the post WW2 " Baby Boom " and influx of soldiers returning to the US triggered an era of mass produced, cheaper housing. Ever since the 1950s, the standard "American dream" has been owning a cookie cutter suburban house with the white picket fencing, etc and the advent of the thirty year mortgage encouraged people to go into debt.
Sadly, I doubt $1.2 million would get you anywhere close to the level of craftsmanship and quality materials that makes this house the stunner that it is. What an absolute GEM!!!💎
Ohmygosh I swear you are saying word-for-word what I’ve been complaining about for years!!! I am so tired of open concept this open concept that! It’s so hard to search for a home these days with specific rooms and hallways. Everything is modern, bland, and boring. 😂 they are even destroying these beautiful homes to fit the modern aesthetic and it’s horrid!
I truly have been born in the wrong Era. My heart leaps every time I see something Victorian. I love all the videos you guys post and love all the restoration you do on your own houses. This house is truly where my spirit originated. Thank you again. Hope to see many more❤
You know that certain paints would kill you right? Lol, I love the handiwork of the Victorian era as well, but I can't say I'm brave enough to live in that era.
Oh my goodness this house is BEAUTIFUL!! As soon as I saw the outside I gasped and then the beauty continued on the inside! I'm not usually a fan of wallpaper but most of it in this house was really pretty. Especially in the parlor. I enjoyed the history of the house as much as the tour. I just wish we could've seen the bathrooms. Unless I just blacked out for a minute and missed it.
I liked the wallpaper at 15:00 little stars and wreaths I guess they are. Very pretty. Not too keen on dark colors on walls. I was hoping to see a bathroom as well, but only saw a sink/toilet... 🙄 21:26 😅
How wonderful that they donated the house for others to enjoy and learn from. Raymond did one heck of a job on that tour! Loved him. And props to the videographer for the smooth filming. The craftsmanship in that home is truly incredible.
$6.500. Can you imagine? Sadly that wouldn't even be a down-payment on a house like this today ! Such elegance from a time long gone. Great tour! Cheers ✌ ❤
Adjusted for inflation $6,500 USD in 1897 is worth $239,396.57 USD in 2023. Still a great deal considering that today $239,396.57 in the San Francisco Bay Area would get you a 1,700 sq. ft empty lot, or part of a condo, or a collapsed 2 story home all in a neighborhood built over a former toxic waste dump with high crime rates.
I grew up 1/2 block from the PT House and loved Francis and Josephine Thompson. This was a great tour of this beautiful home and Raymond is wonderful and did a fantastic job as tour guide with his wide knowledge of not only the house but also historic Helena. Love you Raymond.

Thank you Phillips County College for this restoration. Having grown up in Helena, Arkansas, I know there are many more historic homes that need restoration. This was done with so much love.

Victorian is not my personal taste, but this is beautiful. It is one of the few Victorian homes that did not creep me out. Maybe because the woodwork was a warm caramel instead of the dark mahogany you usually see. Also, the wallpaper was not overwhelming and was confined to a few rooms. Most of the walls were solid color and very calming and cozy. The tour and narration was excellent and made the whole place seem alive.
I really like the exterior color scheme of this house. It’s very austere compared some other period color schemes. It really lets you focus on how all the decorative parts work together
