    nice car I have a black one (with the body chrome ( headlight doors t-tops etc all blacked out from the factory , the super pack I am told ) 360 factory 4bbl - handles like a dream like on a rail with no body sway & quick .

    Gotta give credit where credit is due. That's as nice a car as was rolled off any assembly line that year. I had a 77 challenger, bright orange, plaid interior, 2.6 Mitsubishi 5spd that I really loved. Ole thing wasn't hyper fast,but it handled great at any speed. Still cruised pretty good at 100mph. In high school me and some of the other guys drove to evening vocational school and we'd race across the town bypass along the way. It was a mountain road 5 or 6 miles long and my little challenger would out handle the bigger Camaros,torinos,and even a s10 with a small block chevy v8 in it. It's a wonder we didn't kill our fool selves,lol. Those were the days.

    Really nice car! "360 Premium engine", complete with the little decals on the front of each rocker cover stating such. 195 HP in the dual-exhaust version on the '79 Newport FHP car I had in the early '80s. A practically indestructible engine.

    Very nice car brother! I haven't seen an Aspen R/T that nice in many years. I had a new 1976 Aspen R/T I ordered new in 1976. Mine was a 4 speed with a 318 mill. Jamaican Blue Metallic and white interior. Loved that car.

    I would have tossed the electronic lean burn into the weeds!😂 I bought the counterpart of this car the roadrunner volare. In 79' it was orange with black and red and brighter orange stripes, spoilers and louvers.. ttops 14" rallye wheels and factory RWL 205/70R-14s air conditioning multi plex stereo which had the built in Cass and 8track player, I know for a fact that both the roadrunner and aspen RT only came with a single exhaust system! But most turned them into duals! Myself included! I changed the rear out for a Dana 60 with 4:10 ratio! And ditched the crappy electronic lean burn...

    I had a 77 volare sport coupe that looked almost exactly like yours 318 was very powerful. You could always tell when a mopar was starting because of the sound the starters made. Nice car. Sucks we can't put pictures on here now

      They call that Mopar flywheel-starter sound “the Hamtramck Hummingbird” after the city in Michigan where Chrysler divisions built countless cars and trucks with that starter design.

      Did it take a lot of cranking to get it started sometimes? I kind of liked that so that that you could hear the sound of that starter longer.

    I've always felt that the Dodge Aspen R/T and Plymouth Volare Road runners were very much unappreciated cars. Loved them from the time they were out, always thought they were cool. It's like my 87 Monte Carlo SS, they seem unappreciated, too.

    • @davehibbs9111
      @davehibbs9111 3 роки тому

      Yes the Monte Carlo ss got over shadowed by the Buick grand national and the GNX! My brother had the 84' model which is the only year it came in blue for some unknown reseaon!!! The 180hp 305 most people always was waiting for Chevy to put in a more higher performance tuned port injection system like the camaro iroc z had! But never came to pass! Also it's strange how the standard model 84 Monte Carlo could be had with ttops but not the SS in 84'

    • @dangeroreilly2028
      @dangeroreilly2028 2 роки тому

      Yes, they were intended to replace the Duster and Dart Sport that had been popular for years, but their popularity waned. All 4 models were available in '76, the last year of Duster and Dart. The Volare and Aspen just didn't catch on.

    My oldest brother had an Aspen R/T but it had a slant six in it. It was a POS but I do believe that was the previous owners fault. When my brother gave it back to the used car lot he bought it from my buddy and I challenged the dealer to a drag race for titles, that Aspen R/T against my 82 Camaro Berlinetta, it also had a six cylinder. We almost had them convinced to do it. We planned on winning the car and dropping a 318 into it. They chickened out at the last minute though.

    Beautiful color. I have never seen one in blue. Is that a 360? My Mom had 2 Cordobas back in the day. Blah. l dont think the 76 had Lean Burn but the 78 did and was troublesome and was removed.

  • @psychedout1028
    @psychedout1028 3 роки тому

    Very nice Aspen! Beautifully preserved, and not messed up with add-ons. Except for the Torque Thrust wheels ( which look really good! ), it looks just like it would have on the dealers lot. One suggestion, unplug the ignition buzzer under the drivers seat (white inline plug). Much rather hear the Mopar starter than that annoying buzzer.

    These cars were OK, I guess. Chrysler did what it could under the circumstances of the late '70's. The dress up items helped in appearances but they were still Aspens.😄 My grandmother had a red on red '78 Aspen with the 225 six. We had it for about a year after she passed in '88. It was still in pretty much new condition when we sold it.
