- This Cool Custom 1976 B200 Tradesman Van is owned and operated by Tim Scanlon (Tippy) who was fortunate enough to purchase it just before covid broke out. Did some work on it and had Captain Kurk from customvan.com help him out on the interior. Beautiful 76. Inside and out. My wife and I built this van. We found those star windows on our first date walking through the salvage yard. They set on the dresser for 3 years before we found the van. It came out of Duluth, MN and it was somebody's baby at one time. When I started stripping it down I found some old hand lettering under many layers of bad paint that read "Warsaw Express". I thought about restoring the lettering but it was too far gone.
My parents had a 1977 B200, was a painted a few colors in its lifetime, but last I remember it was metallic gold. My mom bought it brand new in 77 when she and her sisters were singers and wanted to have a van to haul equipment. Anyway, she had it all customized out immediately, had those same side star windows put in, had a tube grille with 4 square headlights, the side flare kit, custom dual roof luggage rack (I still have the rack), angel hair headliner and all that stuff, probably a bunch of other stuff I can't remember. It was mostly stripped by the time I was old enough to remember it and painted that gold color, (had a small fire inside when my dad ran out of gas and some guy stopped to help and lit a cigarette while he was putting gas down the carb and the angel hair caught on fire instantly, my dad said his beard, eyebrows and front of his hair got burnt off pretty good from the gas fumes igniting in the 80's sometime), so it was just a basic van my parents still used but mostly gutted with just a folding bench / bed in the back, and a small closet and a sink you pump with a fridge you put ice in, and used for camping. Sadly it was so rotted out we sold it around 2018 when my dad had cancer and was time to get rid of stuff. Got $300 for the van, had a good 360 V8 in it though and transmission, I could start it without too much work and move it, but it was in bad shape (seen a lot of Ohio winter roads). I did pull the star windows prior and ebay'd them, got about $700 for those vintage porthole windows. I also pulled the roof rack as it was a custom that was two put together to make one long one that went up to the front, haven't sold that yet. I should have pulled the grill and headlight buckets but never did, somebody on ebay seen that stuff on the van photos and wanted it, but too big to pack / ship so I didn't. The van did not sell on ebay, but eventually off craigslist. It was very sad to watch the van go on the flatbed. I happened to see this video thumbnail and wondered if that was my moms old windows, but sounds like it isn't, lol, you don't see these particular star windows in these vans.
