Opening track on the Macro album, which includes Judgement (And Punishment),Pit of Consciousness, and Home Back. Teacher Teacher and Perennial are on the Micro EP. But both were 2019. As for the song itself here is what Tati said about it: “This song is about the career ladder that you climb to achieve success-and how you sacrifice everything in your life just to hit the top but there is nobody to support you. But it’s the worst-case scenario, you know? I still hope that people actually put their lives into achieving some goals, and they really have someone who will support and share their success-and celebrate it with them.”
It's easier to tell on the live version but basically Roman is doing a completely unmuted chord strum at the beginning. He uses a lot of dissonance in this too especially at the end. This song in multitrack form is actually available through a mixing course Max Morton their producer/engineer did. In fact some of the videos are available for free on UA-cam of him doing the drums and other instruments in the mix. I also saw someone's mix that they did from the course on UA-cam but I couldn't find it today. The "no surprise" moment toward the end is really powerful. Amazingly on the studio recording they did several layers for that but it's just as powerful live without the layers. Just different. You're getting the different vintages of her voice. It's not like the previous versions aren't good it's just different.
Yeah, it was very distinctive. Maybe I should have checked the live version at the same time, but I will do it later tonight instead. Tati's is multifaceted and transcended her vocal through the years which is amazing.
I consider the official live in Kiev of this song is way better than OMV. Imagine how great it is. I'd say studio tune is overproduced while live demonstrates that it doesn't need all of those layers etc. At the same time it's performed more wisely. I have a theory why some (many, actually) Jinjer's tracks are better live than recorded in studio. Max Morton (their recording producer) said once few things: 1. Jinjer is a live band by its nature. Thus they compose the music for live performances. In studio and after all the production this music doesn't sound like it was conceived. 2. Tatiana is a "one take performer" even when Jinjer records the album. As Max said, if she's in the mood, if she likes the song, usually her first take is good enough for the album. They do another couple of takes but not because they are trying to get the better option, they just need a bit different vocal lines for layering. Additionally it's known that Tatiana do her things at the very last moment, sometimes she just improvises her vocal lines during the recording. As a result studio tracks has unpolished vocal lines. It can be postproducted (and overproducted sometimes) but it's still "immature" so to say. Not all nuances are solved in a better way yet. Later, when Jinjer performes that track live agian and again, Tatiana more and more figures out how exactly it'd be better to perform some details of the song. And she makes some changes in her vocal lines. So when we see official live performance we could excpect much more polished, more mature performance from Tatiana. And sometimes it enhances the impression significantly.
Jinjer is amazing live. All the live videos I've seen so far. Tati is a self-proclaimed procrastinator, so I imagine she doesn't mind the pressure of recording late, as I reckon she knows she can smash out a vocal performance in one take.
Loved this! Do you love it? Let me know why.

Yeah, the song was so good to listen to.
Jinjer is always an adventure.
It's one hell of an adventure.
This is one of my favorites. Recommend you check out some really old Jinjer like Exposed as a Liar, Scissors, or No Hoard of Value.
I have already reacted to Scissors, but don't worry, I'll get to them all! 👍🤘
