Yes, it's only the issue with the hair which lets her down, the rest I can't fault at all. (Well, maybe making it easier to get her out if her box but I suppose rather than than she's so easy to get out that she accidently gets loose in transit and turns up damaged I suppose.) Happiest birthday, March!! I think this is the first of the Good Smile Blythes that I've seen. I really do like her outfit, very turn-of-the-century travel in my mind. Also very weirdly I get a lot of Studio Ghibli influence? I could absolutely see her as a background character in Howl's Moving Castle. And the purple hair... I'm so biased, I love a fantasy hair color. Which are harder to open, do you think - these Good Smile Blythes or a Rainbow High doll? 🤔
Thank you so much! The outfit on this doll is so lovely, she gives me Gothic Victorian heroine or Victorian Lady Detective vibes, but can definitely see the whole Howl's Moving Castle thing too. And yes, once I saw that hair I couldn't resist - shame it's such a mess straight out of the box though. So I recently opened one of the newer Shadow High dolls in the new packaging and she was actually pretty easy to get out! Compared to this doll, I would rather try and get a RH/SH doll out as this felt like such a struggle. Although I guess with no second outfit for RH/SH dolls now it's bound to be a bit easier.

I remember having an old suitcase when I was a child which was so battered and damaged that it was used to store my soft toys in and that had a handle just like this case, it's really weird what you remember and what can bring old memories back. And yes, I imagine Quintessential Journey investigating dangerous mysteries all over the world, including Amelia Peabody's beloved Egypt.

You know what the price of these dolls are, so I knew if anyone was going to buy a stock Blythe for me it would probably be myself, as only I would be able to justify paying that much. I feel that she was worth it though and it'll be nice when I look back and can say that I got her when I was 50. (Obviously by then I will have had a tone of plastic surgery and be passing myself off as a teenager again.) I'm sure you'll be getting some great dolly gifts even if you don't get a Good Smile this time around.

Her hair colour is gorgeous, it's such a pain to have the greasy feel (I did see someone recommend spraying with dry shampoo, which makes sense to me, I haven't tested it yet though!) I loved her pictures, I loved the colour of her hair, but she was pricey and I almost changed my mind about getting her several times if I'm honest. I only went ahead and got her because I felt that if I wasn't going to spoil myself for my 50th when was I going to do it! I'm so pleased I have her, she is so much nicer in "person" and all the little details that you wouldn't have seen in the pictures like the bloomers and the coat lining etc. She has a lovely Victorian Gothic vibe about her and I do love her in that hat. I have wondered about dry shampoo - as I used to use it a LOT when I had long hair and didn't want to wash it too much because of all the colours I had in it, but I'm not sure if it would help, I'd be worried about making the hair even stickier with it. Think I will have to spa her so fingers crossed on that - I still have two other stock Blythes which need it doing too! I love those dark eyes too, I think maybe 20 Years of Love also had a similar dark pair, but I could be wrong.

I was so delighted with her. I have to admit I ummed and ahhed over getting her to start with, but so pleased that I got her now. She wasn't the cheapest release that's for sure but after seeing her and unboxing her etc I have to admit that she is as fabulous as I hoped she would be, moreso in fact. There is something a bit Nadja about her actually, and something a bit gothic about the doll's style. If months are good enough when people are telling me about how old their children are then it's good enough for me too! I'm not looking forward to washing the hair as it feels particularly horrible but the sooner it's done the better I think. And thank you, I had a nice relaxing birthday and I'm off work all week so getting plenty of naps in (which I needed even before hitting 600 months) and generally just enjoying having some free time.
Happy Birthday! The graphics on the box are very nice, but the first thing I noticed was the nice embroidery on the waistline of her skirt. I love her lavender hair, the suitcase, the hair comb, not sure about the use of black for her stockings and mittens.
When I saw pictures of the box I have to admit that I could take it or leave it, but seeing the box in person I really appreciated the drawings more. The skirt really is a beautiful piece, I really love the shape of it and the details on the waistband are perfect. I'm probably not going to keep the black stockings and mittens on her very long (in fact I took the gloves off her just after taking the photographs) as I just worry about the staining. Also I think a different might have done better with the whole look anyway.
