Thanks for the video! American here and considering Wind vs GTLine. Appreciate the effort to discuss not only the Irish version but some of the specs in other countries. Great job!
Great review again Derek. Hoping to get our Earth model shortly and like you, I noticed the improvement in head height without the sunroof. I need to check with my garage one thing though; I saw a review from the UK, where EV6's built before Sept 21 had an issue with the heating not always working. Apparently is was a fault heat inverter...so hoping that was resolved. Other than that....it seems to be a cracking car to move over to electric.
@@gerryheery1388 excellent Gerry. The one thing I would say is that the side seat supports are not as fitted as they were in my previous car a Peugeot 3008 GT Line PHEV. However thats more than compensated for by the various seat settings and superior manoeuverability of the Kia Earth model seats
The Kia specs are excellent 2 really well speced cars makes it nice and easy unlike Skoda which is a nightmare and makes me feel like the car is getting expensive. Earth spec is spot on I think and the smaller wheels is a much better choice I think. Good comparison very useful
Good review Derek. Have just bought an EV6 Earth model here in Ireland, awaiting delivery in Feb 23. Preferred the brighter interior on the Earth model, although a couple of kit items from the GT Line would be good options. Not sure if Kia will go down that road though, probably simpler, to just choose model and colour, from their perspective. I thought the V2L was standard on Earth model, comments below suggests not?
just wondering did you get your ev6 yet i'd like to know what stereo/speakers sound like i have a vw id4 and I'm considering changing it for the ev6 earth
I have the left hand drive one up already but like you I'm looking forward to the RHD version. There are going to be lots of comparison videos! ua-cam.com/video/vh9nCTU-Lnk/v-deo.html
About a 10% difference between earth and gt line. Is the difference worth it? Probably. Just like others 50k+ is a big jump from what l'm used to paying for a car. 50k is 5k a year for 10 years. (Yes It will last longer) Evs save about 1k a year over an ice. So probably 4k a year plus electricity. Should I compare it to a €40k ice vehicle for equivalence? With diesel/petrol costs on the up and ice second hand values going to crash, in a few years(my opinion), bev must be the only way to go. (I have not included servicing/mechanical repairs.) As I said all I have to do is find the money! As I'm used to buying 4/5 year old cars, and then keep them for years, it is a big jump for me. This is my dilemma. Keep up the good work Derek. A very interesting review. Des Dungarvan. Ireland
Same sized frunk as the Ioniq 5. It's perfect for my site ppe gear. Boots, hard hat, 2 hi-vivs jackets, and room for other bits. Really frees up the main boot. I'm happy to keep charging cables in the rear as the charge port is back there.
My main ask is for them to remove the secondary boot latch to save the fiddling under the bonnet trying to find it - if using the frunk all the time, it would be great if manufacturers started treating it like the rear boot: push one button and it opens! Tesla has shown us the latch isn’t needed - none of their vehicles have it….
@@NealMcQuaid I'd say it's a bit of cost savings sticking with the old school bonnet release, at least it has gas struts. Agree it would be nice if it operated like the boot, button release in cabin or even on the key fob.
@@NevoEVReviewIreland the consensus from MunroLive (that vehicle assessment group in the States) is the front security latch was from a time when manufacturing quality was much worse and there was a likelihood of the bonnet popping open unintentionally! Thankfully, we’re long past that era…
Still waiting on my EV6 Earth model, ordered in November, got notification from garage last week, car coming first week of May, delays are painful, but i suppose its common with most EVs currently.
Really nice review. I much prefer the bright interior of the Earth vs the smaller and darker GT LIne. Very happy with my Earth model so far. By the way, Earth models don't come with the vehicle to load adapter as standard in Ireland. (Albeit it was in the frunk of the one you tested)
Thank you for the clarification mad4tar77! Glad you like the Earth trim, it's the one I'd go for myself. Do you have the 3 pin socket under the rear bench?
@EV Review Ireland Yes, mine has the 3 pin socket under the rear seat, therefore it has Vehicle 2 Load, just not the Vehicle 2 Load adapter for the rear charge port.
@kennethsmyth Hi Kenneth, I must check with other Irish Earth spec owners to see if their's came the V2L adapter for the charge port. Mine has a 3 pin socket under the rear seat, therefore it can do Vehicle 2 Load, just plugging into the socket rather than an adapter to plug into the charge port.
I stand corrected. Hidden in the back of the trickle 'granny' charger case is the Vehicle 2 Load adaptor case on my Earth model, therefore thanks for info, I would never have known it was there without your video!!
In Canada 200 GT-Line Pack 2 (top spec) $61,995 MSRP AWD were "reserved" last November through Kia Canada's reservation website and are sent to your selected Kia EV dealer. They have started deliveries now. The other models can be ordered for delivery in the autumn of 2022 at the earliest, including a $44,995 smaller battery Short Range RWD base. (That MRSP to makes all EV6 models eligible for a Federal iZev grant of $5000.) This base model qualifies the $53K and $55K (320 HP) Long Range AWD models and the 2 GT-Line models for the grant. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 RWD is being delivered to Dealers for demonstration . All Kia EV6' GT-line 2 are sold unless the sale falls through. Our local dealer that does the Kia Hyundai Channel on UA-cam "borrows" the car for his videos. The Kia dealers are respecting the MRSP price, not like the US where there is no restriction on mark-up.
This is no longer accurate. The Kia dealers are marking up the price by at least $2,000 now and all models are 'by waitlist' and you will only get in after placing a deposit of around $1,000 and someone else doesn't follow through. They are also charging $900 for the 'document fee' and $2,000 for the delivery fee.
Like the EV6 Earth, I was looking at the Audi Q4 as well, love Audi, have an A3 Saloon, similar prices, but when you look at equipment levels, EV6 is far superior, need to spend significantly to match the Audi to EV6. Audi probably has it on interior space though, beautiful interior on Audi.

Hi Derek, good review. I am thinking of choosing gt line. The only problem is the wheels , would kia supply gt line with 19 inch wheels, Thank you Tom.
@@NevoEVReviewIreland just a suggestion for you when you review cars would you please include how the music system quality is which is a deal breaker for lots of people. All I am saying is how the base model compares to high end variant (B&O, HK, BOSE etc in the top trim).
I still love the e-Niro. Looking forward to the updated one coming. The EV6 is amazing and it's more expensive. Can I have both because it's not like for like.
Derek I was thinking of the ev6 but the guys in work are saying there isn’t enough charging points in Ireland which I think is a load of rubbish because in wexford town alone I know of exactly 10 at least ? Is it too early for electric cars ??? For a person that does maybe 30 mins of driving a day back and fourth to work would I benefit out of electric ???? I have a Renault kadjar I love the space in that ? Is the ev6 a perfect family suv ?
The N11 circle K is handy if you want to fast charge on the way to Dublin. I think they have about 8 Ionity chargers and they are always free. That said, you’ll be charging from home so only really necessary for a cross country trip. Also, a lot of the public chargers in shopping centres and hotels are free. Win, win.
€50k for a base spec is just mad money. I drive a MG ZS. Almost €20k cheaper. Is that extra price really justified for the EV6? I guess if you have the money great.
In the US the frunk is quite shallow, an unfunny joke really. Apparently there is a regulation stating that any external storage area must have a light and an internal lid release for safety purposes. I would try to find and install a Euro-spec frunk, as I do not intend to carry children in the frunk, trunk, froot or boot lol.
