    A CD is recorded at 1411 kbits vs an MP3 at say 320k. So the MP3 is compressed. That means leaving some of the data bits out. It's really amazing because I have done listening test with people using various systems and none of the listeners could guess which was CD or 320k MP3.
    Essentially that is the point where our ears just are not good enough to pick up on the difference. One key factor here is to run a program to check to see if the MP3 is indeed recorded at 320. I see many sites recording at lower rates but marking them as 320.
    When we get below 320 some people can hear a difference. At my test we all struggle as 256k which was also very good.
    It was at 192k where I could hear a difference. Bass was not a tight and the highs at dropped a little.
    Yet I could still use the 192k files at my bar gigs since folks there don't really study the sound.
    I would say to never use any that are less than 128k. Even a drunk can hear the difference!
    For guys playing on big sound systems I would suggest WAV files which are large but they are lossless. There are some DJ sites offering these files. You can also use software to rip your files to this format. FLAC is also good.
    I should also add that there are some CDs that have been mastered poorly. Look out for that problem too.
    At the end of the day, do comparisons, use your ears ...

    I learned something here with the 320 bits. He is right because notice, on the new songs that are releasing in todays world that clapping sound the we love and use to from the expander is nul and void on those songs. However, playing songs like the foundation tune as we call it, those were recorded on a slower bit rate, so the expander will have a bigger impact on those tunes. Never too old to learn.
    Wallie you out do yourself again with this informative video. Not everyday it has to be about the physical sound this is the real deal to make your sound play in the right manner Great video me boss.

    Mp3 file format is a compressed form of the full WAV file used on CD's. Kbps is a reference on the level of compression the lower the number the higher the compression and the more source material is lost, for example if you were rip a CD at 128kbps you will hear a drastic loss in quality vs 320kbps. The file size will also be smaller at 128 vs 320.....This is why FLAC and WAV lossless audio files are ofter 20mb to 50mb in size, vs 128kbps Mp3 which is about 1mb per minute of music.respect💯👊

    When using a software such as Serato to DJ there are many factors to consider. Depending on the type of equipment you’re connected to your software is going react differently due to the sound card being used.

    Love the work Godfadas in the business. Just something for a thought, I may be wrong. The x32 recommends -18 maybe because of having so many channels. Like a analogue mixer, if all those channels are to be used simultaneously, there will be a more intense signal coming from the x32 and likewise the likelihood of any one or more of the channels having peaks that may go in the clipping region. And for our traditional sound systems, we are mostly reproducing recorded audio through a few channels vs using live musical instruments and vocals that can have unpredictable peaks. Just trying to reason it out. Thanks again.

    Frequency with mili volts goes through your XLR cables. Noise is being generated by the power supply of the equipment the higher the quality the better the circuitry. Less ground noise.

    320 is the best quality of any bitrate (meaning u could hear a pin drop in the music) more defined than the lower bitrates such as 120. Expander is better noticed when you play low quality bitrate music that's why it was originally designed for cassette and vinyl. So with that said if you play 320kbps an Expander is useless but keep in mind 320 files take up 3 times the file space as 128 which is the normal mp3 file. Wav file is also good quality but takes up alot of space per song as well. 👍🏼✅️🔊

    • @franklinbrown3929
      @franklinbrown3929 2 місяці тому

      I think all bitrate are good form 128 up but with now a days systems 320kbps is definitely the go to bitrate for powered and full range applications.

    We use 16 bit wave files - if not a wave file a 320 mp3 - I have noticed the CD are sounding pretty crisp too as I run a cd player and of course you can’t beat the sound of analog vinyl when running sound we rip vinyl to 16/24bit wave file using the Evermix box for the I phone - I feel the 320 mp3 is the most versitle for sound but use what you got or what you think sound best for your sound big up all sound tho from the U.K.

    320kbps is so rich and heavily compressed that it doesn't have does define signal that expander would use to create the expansion (high points of the signal that would be expanded by the expander). Therefore the majority of the audio signal gets caught in the expansion then cause distortion. It's like just instantly turning up the whole signal too far. That's my understanding.

    • @DJKraig.G
      @DJKraig.G 3 місяці тому +4

      320 is actual less compression,Kbps Stands for Kilo bytes per second the difference between 128 and 320 is just how many bytes has to be processed when the song is being played back, a byte is equal to 1000 bits and 1 bit is a four digit combination of zeros and ones...this is the language computers use. The advantage of mp3 was only to make file sizes smaller as hard drive space was at a premium back in the day...a full CD in the store could hold 700mb in wave format, while mp3 compression could play it back using 70mb, of course quality was lost in this process..👍
