Two factors to consider in this case; what's the rules on RHD where you live, and emissions standards. Bear in mind that this engine isn't a Chevrolet, it's a 5 litre V8 designed and built by Holden. They weigh about 90 pounds less than a Chevy small block, but can handle just as much abuse. Can be bored out to 355 cubic inches, and the whole car tips the scales at slightly over 3000lbs. They also have optional independent rear suspension, ABS brakes. 4 wheel discs are standard on all models
I have a vt 9c1 5.0 and this looks like just the thing for me. Grouse video. I wish there were more straight-forward clearly explained vids like this one. Super effort, that.

I have a nice standard 5L VR Commodore wagon that I don't want to let go of but the motor has 400 on the clock but still no smoke as it is serviced every 5000 k. Will the engine require a complete rebuild? If so, would you recommend stroking it for your newer supercharger?

That noise would sound great coming out of my 38 chev...It's got VN 5.0 commy stuff on board...Yella Terra say they can supply a set up with a 60% power increase...could you tell me the numbers please.?..great job by the way.
@marek0086 ive decided now to go a different route because of funds so im only doing cam, exhaust and cold air so the insurance(im assuming) would be cheaper than a V8

@marek0086 if i everdo unfortunately crash the insurace company would say that because i didnt tell them i have upgraded the car with a performance modification they wont pay me out as this performace boost could be a cause of the crash

@marek0086 i would do that if i could mate, but as i would still be on my red p plates it would cost me more in the long run including the ls2 swap and later insurance.
Plus even with an auto, instead of having 123drnp etc you can put a custom setup in and have 12345 sort of like a manual but without a clutch you can click it up and way you go with a bit my guts haha but i forgot the actual terminology or what its actually called, Dom's Charger in the first fast and the furious had it i'm pretty sure. so more fun that way to without having an actual manual.

Yep, rebuilt with some stronger parts and a mild shift kit, stock recon convertor.
Love the vr-vs series my favourite commodore grew up in 2 vr wagons and have myself a vs sedan hopefully one day I can own v8 version of a vr or vs

can you tune these engines/gearbox with the computer to sharpen up the gear changes? the auto gear changes sound a little sloppy in the 0-100 scenario

the 3.8 is a boat anchor, throw it away, put a stock 3.6 in, only decent motor Holden have used since they stopped using the 308
