My name is Erich and I live in Italy welcome to my channel. I used to play golf on and off for many years, but I started my journey again about 8 years ago, changing my swing completely.
My goal is to become a single figure handicap golfer in the near future.
To achieve this goal, I built my own backyard putting green and set up a backyard golf net. I love playing in my backyard green, doing drills, club reviews and playing at the range and at the course to get better at the game and ultimately reach my goal (hopefully).

I finally got it guys! you have to do ulnar deviation on your downswing no flexion or extension, IT WORKS!!!
so you're really onto something here. i went out to my backyard practice mat area and tried this and it worked great. i also tried getting it to happen at different spots like early before the bottom of the arc and more at the ball and a point after the ball and i got different ball heights but all went on a nice small draws toward the middle. i cant't wait to try it for real later this week, thnx.
I’m glad it’s working, it takes time but for me it’s it was like night to day
i think at the top coming down the left wrist is in extension.
At the top feel your left hand like a hand check only move your wrists down, do not move them to the sides because this cause extension or flexion.
The other key is the more you ulnar if you hold the club out in front you’ll have to flex and your hands automatically create more shaft lean.
@@aleksilepisto7282 exactly, for me I just focus on doing ulnar and the flexion just comes as a result of that
i've also tried leaving the hands and wrists really loose and letting the weight of the club cock and uncock the wrists and it works real well for a while but can turn into a flip for me.
it's a different feeling for every golfer, but once you get it, trust me you'll know
Interesting. I tend to have a feeling of me “flipping” my wrist through impact. Which I end up randomly push slice or hook.
For me it’s working like never before, I stopped trying to flex, I’m just putting my wrists up on my takeaway and down on my downswing
i like your bucket hat under products does fit xllarge heads, i have a big head?
I've a big head too, yes I think most trucker hats are fitted for big heads
i've been golfing for about 50 years and have known ulnar deviation exists for the last ten years or so but it just dawned on me yesterday that we're in ulnar at address and it has to be at some point hitting the ball. then i started thinking that it's in a lot of things we do like using a hammer or axe, casting a fishing rod, hockey and baseball. i'm gonna work on this and see if i can get it to happen naturally or actually apply it in my action. thnx for the help.
It worked for me, it takes time, but once I got it I made huge progress like never before, just more consistent. Radial on the takeaway but most importantly ulnar on the downswing and make sure not to bow your wrists just go down (ulnar deviation) it really works, good luck and let me know
@@thebackyardgolfer7010 it makes so much sense and can prevent the flip, the scoop and the early fat hit. helps with timing the action.
@@steveperry1344 I'm glad, keep going. I've improved so much in just 6 months doing this
How can you think about golf with a view like that?!?🙀 Where is that?
thanks, it's in northern Italy, Rendena Golf Club
@@thebackyardgolfer7010 Wow! Beautiful place!
Is it full ulnar deviation at address also? Does it start the downswing for all clubs?
ideal you want to do slight ulnar at address, radial on your takeaway and as much ulnar as you can in your downswing
@@thebackyardgolfer7010 , okay, Tks for the reply.
@@rickwilliams6922 no problem, good luck 👍
i've tried pointing the thumbs up on the backswing and pointing the thumbs down to hit the ball. i've had the 'impact snap' device for years and sometimes work with it to train the wrist and hand action.
Very interesting Erich. You got these insights because of your Hackmotion? I bought one aswell. I am practicing with the Hackmotion but I still use my "old swing" on the course. How did you deal with this? When did you "switch"?
Trust me if you start doing ulnar deviation on the slightest way, you will see the difference. I did it at the course and it worked but I was doing ulnar all the way which is not ideal at all, now I’m on day 4 on having this feeling, but it’s better to combine radial on the takeaway and ulnar on the downswing. I saw on Hackmotion that all pros have ulnar on impact, I’m trying to see the graph for me on hackmotion but I can’t find it yet, I know they have that data
thanks for your post. seems like wrist motion/alignment is in vogue.hack motion provender, etc, some think trail wrist position is the key, others lead wrist. seems like no one shows/mentions ball flight.too many variables for me just a amateur high handicapper to figure out. so many variables of address, backswing and downswing to impact.
I think, imo,its like the argument about driver heads, moi, shaft, etc.and plus every
I looked at hackmotion and all pros have ulnar deviation at impact, it's no secret, don't bother with extension or flexion, just look at radial and ulnar deviation, simply as that, trust me. Basically, feel like you are moving your wrist upwards on your takeaway and do the opposite on your downswing, wrists downwards, it's not flexion.
Howell Valley
it's in northern Italy
I happened to get this last week but it didn't make sense to me now it does so thank you.
I’m so glad, it’s the only way to shallow the shaft, then of course there is all the other technical parts, but I think without ulnar for me nothing it’s going to really work
Cool that you got it to click and you worked it out!!🏌♂⛳😀
I worked on so many things for an entire month, then just ulnar on my downswing worked like magic, radial on the takeaway (gets the club outside) ulnar on the downswing (gets the club super shallow)
