I can totally see Ben and his friends in the second grade all eating their Twix bars, Jamie, Mike, And Barry, happily scarfing down their candy bars, and then next to them is Ben, breaking his bar in half and being fascinated by the caramel goo
So in the second chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone we learn, "A tiny man in a violet top hat had bowed to [Harry] once while out shopping with Petunia and Dudley." Ben? Care to explain?
Q. Why do watch it when you know that you don't have access to half of these ingredients? A. Because Food + Ben (especially in cute costumes) are both the love of my life. 😍😍😘😘😘😘😘
Liquid glucose; dulce de leche; vanilla paste; 500 g milk chocolate; 2 twix shaped silicon moulds. Most of these would either be unavailable or too expensive for me to buy, also I live in a hostel for college. So as much as I would love to, making these is a distant dream right now.
Rev Maybe you need to think out of Europe and America....? they have chocolate, but it's mostly not good compound chocolate in comparison to known Cadburry, Kinder, Milka, Lindt, Hershey's etc...
Well done, Ben! The DIY crowd is with you! The rest of us are impressed as heck that you would go to the trouble. Many of us will continue to buy our Twix bars as we always have, but now we can say, "Did you know you could make these yourself?" and will direct whoever is curious to your website. Win, win, win!
...as someone with Celiac, I thought I'd never haveTwix again. This...assuming I can tweak the recipe to use GF flour in the shortbread (alongside the corn flour obv.), it'll be something I can enjoy! Thanks!
I just 11 year old but I love cooking and baking I was making Twix bar watching u and doing the same thing as u I am making for my brother's birthday he wanted Twix bar cake
Once you temper chocolate can you reuse it? Do you just reheat the chocolate when's it's cooled down? Or do you have to follow the tempering processing again? For example: Did you use the same chocolate for the mould and the base?
You can try to keep it at a constant temperature, not letting it go above 30-31ºC but it can be difficult over a long time, so if it's cooled you will probably have to temper it again.
As someone that made Twix everyday for a year plus, good job. The only thing that I would add for your recipe, is that you need to let the candy cool longer. Once constructed, the candy needs to set so the caramel has a slightly more elastic texture.
So is this like the predecessor of the famed Gourmet Makes...!! Also, tbh Bon Appetite should invite you guys to understand how to run a drama-less nice warm and lovely and educational cooking channel. And also for a collab.... if they ever recover that is.
Do you have the type of silicon mold that makes the chocolat between two different molds, in the perfect quantity? I used this type when I sold chocolate in college, it was easier to make chocolates that kept the filling.
Ingredients for a Ben's Candy Shop video: One purple jacket (flower optional), one ridiculously oversized top hat, an oboe in the soundtrack, and a sprinkling of Bike (actual quantity may vary between videos - see the DIY chocolate fondants video for an example of increased Bike).
Shouldn't you bake the shortbread before you temper the chocolate? Because unless you keep the chocolate up to temperature, you might have to retemper it if it sits too long and hardens again. Wouldn't it be better to temper the chocolate right before you use it?
can someone tell me what the duck is a pancoi as mentioned when rolling out the shortbread? I've heard him use this term before but never figured out what the duckdick it is...
Hey sorted food i have a video idea for you, I just got the last 3 of my wisdom teeth out today and can only eat soft foods for the next couple days so i thought it would be an awesome idea if you guys made a video on how to make soft and healthy foods to get someone through any type of oral surgery that has to eat soft foods for the first few days after when they are in pain and dont know what is safe other then ice cream or apple sauce
You use cold butter so that it doesn't melt before combining well with the flour. Combining the butter and flour to breadcrumb consistency means that the butter is evenly distributed throughout. If it's soft or melted then you'll probably get lumps!
With summer coming up is there any chance you could do the ultimate picnic battle ?? Or if not that then how to make a picnic Loaf including the actual bread
How much to hire Ben to come to my house when I'm feeling blue and make me these delightful little chocolate-y morsels? These look lovely, I love caramel and shortbread, and Twix are a weakness.
A good way to skip the trimming of the shortbread would be to cut them into portions before baking, but keep them intact so they don't spread. Then you can slice them still warm before they harden after cooling.
Roll out to the thickness of a pound coin júst less than a centimeter thick. Are pound coin really almost 1 cm? (actually wondering, I'm not from the UK)
Guys. Problem. I could not watch the live stream yesterday when Ben read Harry Potter because of work. Only the last hour or so. Is there any possibility the whole beauty is going to be uploaded?
YES!! I swear to god Ben's Candy Shop should be a series.
Anyone else agree?

A. Because Food + Ben (especially in cute costumes) are both the love of my life. 😍😍😘😘😘😘😘
Snigdha Bharadwaj out of interest, which if these don't you have access to and why?
Rev I bet it's the liquid glucose cause I've never seen that either where I live
Snigdha Bharadwaj fair enough, although dulce de lecce is easy to makes and also, IN WHAT WORLD DOES SOMEONE NOT HAVE ACCESS TO CHOCOLATE?
Rev Maybe you need to think out of Europe and America....?
they have chocolate, but it's mostly not good compound chocolate in comparison to known Cadburry, Kinder, Milka, Lindt, Hershey's etc...
They looked so good! 😋 really good explanation of tempering chocolate! Thanks guys!
We've got a hardcore guide here too: sortedfood.com/fridgecam/how-to-temper-chocolate

Knew you and Mike had a good bromance! The twix look good too! :D
Mike is officially Ben's favorite Oomp
You guys are very creative and original, it's brilliant.
OH! I was waiting for this! BTW I recommend an Ultimate Mystery Box Battle.
YES!!!! But do they get the same box?
Or maybe like... the box contains a bunch of ingredients and they try to make the best out of it
YES !!!! THEY NEED TO DO IT
Yes

Mike's your favourite Oompa Loompa? Does Barry know?
...as someone with Celiac, I thought I'd never haveTwix again. This...assuming I can tweak the recipe to use GF flour in the shortbread (alongside the corn flour obv.), it'll be something I can enjoy!
Thanks!
I feel they should do a DIY twirl or Mint Aero.
ThebreadthatcausedLesMis Mint aero! 😍
ThebreadthatcausedLesMis Just here to applaud your name!
I agree. Mint aero is gr8. full chocolate aeros are fucking disgusting.
Did I really just watch a whole episode of Ben's Kandy Shop without any Ben-uendos!?
Funky Fresh Food 😲omg you're right!
I just 11 year old but I love cooking and baking I was making Twix bar watching u and doing the same thing as u I am making for my brother's birthday he wanted Twix bar cake
My heart melted more than that chocolate when he said Mike was his favourite Oompa Loompa
Loving the stacks of silicon bakeware in the background
Why did I know it would be Mike?
Now we know Mike and Ben are the best of friends!
Is the second bit of chocolate that seals it all in tempered separately, or is that the same chocolate you already tempered in the first step?
As someone that made Twix everyday for a year plus, good job. The only thing that I would add for your recipe, is that you need to let the candy cool longer. Once constructed, the candy needs to set so the caramel has a slightly more elastic texture.
I have to make these! Twix are my favorite candy bar.
So is this like the predecessor of the famed Gourmet Makes...!! Also, tbh Bon Appetite should invite you guys to understand how to run a drama-less nice warm and lovely and educational cooking channel. And also for a collab.... if they ever recover that is.
To everyone reading this I hope you're having a lovely day
Thanks! And the same to you!
DrDespicable Thank you!
Caroline thanks you too
Thank.you...I just ate a twix 😅
I've needed a good tempering chocolate video form you guys. I learnt it at college but it confused the hell out of me. I might just give this one a go
Wow, it looks way better than the original! Great job!
DIY Kinder Buenos?
Oooooh! That looks amazing! Can you do Trail Mix, too?
Do you have the type of silicon mold that makes the chocolat between two different molds, in the perfect quantity? I used this type when I sold chocolate in college, it was easier to make chocolates that kept the filling.
Twix is my most favourite chocolate ever!!! :D will try this asap
Mike is the favored Oompa-Loompa? Fair enough. Now, Ben, show us your Curly-Wurly!
DrDespicable We still haven't seen his sherbet fountain.
just a quick question: would it be cheaper to make your own twix? or is it just to impress ;)
Can you try building with chocolate? Great video By the way,
These look amazing and I'm very impressed but I just want a Twix now!
Ben should make KitKats with Barry!! 💜😊
I just love twixs!! thanks a lot ben!!😊

can someone tell me what the duck is a pancoi as mentioned when rolling out the shortbread? I've heard him use this term before but never figured out what the duckdick it is...
Just wanna ask what is the difference between the left finger and right finger twix bars?
You're a wizard, Ben!
Is there a gadget video rolling pin being used there?
Lmao his outfit I'm dying
XD
Hey sorted food i have a video idea for you, I just got the last 3 of my wisdom teeth out today and can only eat soft foods for the next couple days so i thought it would be an awesome idea if you guys made a video on how to make soft and healthy foods to get someone through any type of oral surgery that has to eat soft foods for the first few days after when they are in pain and dont know what is safe other then ice cream or apple sauce
Mashed potatoes. squash cassorole.
Scrambled eggs. Blend some simple soups: cooked broccoli, spinach, tomato, cauliflower-whatever you like. Add some garlic. You can whip cooked parsnips, carrots, rutabagas. Blend/juice greens, veggies, fruits (banana shake, etc.).
i love Ben's candy shop
What type/brand of chocolate do you use?
Omg yum...craving chocolate so badly now
This might be a stupid question but does tempered chocolate taste different?
Whats the difference if you use room tempreture butter instead for the shortbread?
You use cold butter so that it doesn't melt before combining well with the flour. Combining the butter and flour to breadcrumb consistency means that the butter is evenly distributed throughout. If it's soft or melted then you'll probably get lumps!
I knew the costume was coming back! 🎩 🍫
Is this similar to Jamie's recipe in the Ultimate Cookie Battle?
Wow, Ben really does have a few Twix up his sleeve
With summer coming up is there any chance you could do the ultimate picnic battle ?? Or if not that then how to make a picnic Loaf including the actual bread

How much to hire Ben to come to my house when I'm feeling blue and make me these delightful little chocolate-y morsels? These look lovely, I love caramel and shortbread, and Twix are a weakness.

Please can someone tell me how long it will stay fine outside fridge? I live in hostel, Don have fridge! ☹️
Can you create a recipe for DIY Cadbury's Wunderbars? I love those :)
Do you have the link to that mold?
Where the heck do you find liquid glucose? I live in the US, is it called something different here?
You can use Corn Syrup.
The only sweet thing to my liking here is Ben. :3
A good way to skip the trimming of the shortbread would be to cut them into portions before baking, but keep them intact so they don't spread. Then you can slice them still warm before they harden after cooling.
The second I saw Ben my jaw dropped. It still hasn't come back up. Should I be laughing? Should I even be surprised?
i love twix but these were so much better.
it's so beautiful I want to cry.
Ban called Mike his favorite Oompa Loompa !!!!
Roll out to the thickness of a pound coin júst less than a centimeter thick. Are pound coin really almost 1 cm? (actually wondering, I'm not from the UK)
Tara Dirven no, they are quite thick for coins but not thicker than half a centimetre.
