I had to laugh when I heard "I'm in stores and I hear 'Mom' and I'm turning around"...LOL. I'm a grandma several times over now and I still jump when I hear 'Mom' in stores. However, the biggest laugh I ever got was when my oldest was a toddler. He was acting like a putz in the shop and I said, sharply, "MICHAEL!" He froze--and so did an elderly gentleman nearby. It turns out his name was Michael, too, and for a few seconds, he froze in place because he "heard" his mother's voice in mine while I was taking my own son to task.
I don't even have kids, but left videos playing while I slept, heard a baby crying, jumped out of bed, "The baby's crying!" Then thought, "Why am I hearing a baby crying? IS MY HOUSE HAUNTED BY A BABY GHOST?" Then I woke up a little more..."oh, it's the video..."
I do too! I'm always turning my head as well when I hear someone call "mom"! I'm 61! And what's funny for me is when I hear this it always sounds like one of my kids!

This has nothing to do with hearing "mom", but it is a true tale about hearing a child's voice:- I used to work as a Funeral Director, and we had a local man who delivered books to us from a book club once a month. All sorts of books, so the staff could choose and buy. One Christmas he brought a selection of children's books as most of the staff had children, and because I was busy he left the books in the staff sitting room. After he'd gone I was alone, and began to hear a child's voice saying, "hello, will you play with me?" I thought I was imagining it but it kept on. Then it said, "I'm lonely, please be my friend". Oh, my! I searched the place everywhere but found nothing. The voice kept on. And on. In the end I got so scared I phoned my husband to come fetch me. He came in, and he heard the voice too........ and went to the sitting room, tipped out the box of children's books ...... and switched off the electronic voiced play book entitled "Be my Friend" ! 🤣🤣

Dashie07 This delicious caramel is what is used at Downtown Disney and Disneyland/California Adventure in Anaheim inside Marceline's Confectionary and at the candy stores inside the parks! Great quality and the best caramel for dipped apples too!
Caramel is made by first caramelizing sugar by cooking it with a small amount of water until it is almost burned, then adding cream and butter and cooking down until it is the right temperature (which means it has the right sugar : water ratio), then pouring it and letting it cool. Newer caramel recipes use somewhat different ingredients, like corn syrup for the sweetener. It's also possible to use coconut cream instead of cream/butter. But old fashioned rich creamy chewy caramel comes from sugar, cream, and butter.
I would only add to that that the temperature of the candy determines whether it will be chewy or a hard candy. Caramel is made from white sugar; butterscotch begins with brown sugar.
