    Beautiful truck I would prefer midsize over full size that's all what the majority of people actually need. I'm just afraid that pricing will be ridiculous.

      That's exactly what I need, a midsize or small truck, with a long bed and an _extended cab._ If the only cab available is a crew cab, it's a 100% dealbreaker for me.

      Modern "mid-size" trucks are now to the level of 20 year old half tons. For the average person, that is far more than enough truck. Unfortunately trucks have turned into status symbols and luxury items versus work vehicles. I'm pretty excited about these new Colorado/Canyons, unfortunately I'm afraid they're too expensive for me to afford. I'm not towing nearly as much as I used to, no need for my 2005 Silverado 2500HD Diesel anymore. I also disagree with GM on dropping the long bed variant, but their data must show low take rate on the long bed.
      I'm not sure if it's been published yet, but with the advertised power ratings of the 2.7L turbo it's damn near the power numbers of my 2005 diesel, in a significantly lighter package, drinking cheaper fuel.
      Straight from google-
      2023 Colorado: 213″ L x 75″ W x 79-82″ H, max towing capacity up in the mid 7000s.
      2003 Silverado 1500: 203-247″ L x 79″ W x 71-74″ H, max towing capacity up around 7,500lbs.

      @@ryanholmes5364 even if prices would be lower I still wouldn't go for a full size truck anymore. We're outdoor people we just need something to carry our bicycles , tent etc. all light towing . I find the smaller cabins more cozier without having an arm rest where I can change a baby's diaper . Midsize trucks are easier to maneuver and better on gas except the Tacoma still being thirsty but they're going to drop the V6 in 2024. Overall car and truck prices are ridiculously expensive.

    They need to stop with that cylinder deactivation. Nothing but issues.

      I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. I guess you could say I have mixed feelings. First I had a (2006 I THINK) Pontiac Grand Prix GXP with the 5.3 liter. Never had an issue. I've also owned 2017 Camaro SS AND 2021 Silverado LTZ each with the 6.2 liter. On the Camaro, a little under 30k miles I was driving normally (60 mph), and ALL OF A SUDDEN all power (50% in this case) dies and it sounds like death. The fuel injectors just up n went bad, in a split second! Well since fuel injectors aren't considered "power train" in a gasser, only in diesels for GM at least, it wasn't covered under warranty! Thankfully the dealer took care of me, and that right there is why you shop local and support the people that support you! Anyway, obviously there had to have been some kind of software issue that completely f**ked up the engine, so I don't necessarily blame the concept of cylinder deactivation for what I've mostly heard about not getting oil lubricated where it's needed etc, but I certainly wasn't very happy about it. Basically it scared me into trading in for my current Silverado 6.2l which has about 30k on and so far no issues whatsoever. Long story short, I sure do miss my CAMARO 🤣
      Seriously though, the fuel economy is the real deal with these engines. I was looking into a kia stinger or bmw etc, but none of them can come close to the fuel economy of the camaro (was getting 32 mpg at best highway and mid 20s and easily averaging 30-31 mpg overall), let alone even matching what my half ton full sized pickup can achieve (22 mpg highway on ocassion). So yes, I honestly do feel there is value in the cylinder deactivation as it works really well to achieve great fuel economy. As it is going forward, I see all these new gm models like the Malibu, equinox, terrain, encore, etc all getting nerfed with complete lackluster engine options with, in my humble opinion, not getting the fuel economy any better.
      Sorry for the lengthy reply but I've been holding that in for awhile 🤣

    I miss the old days when the Z71 was an option package and not a trim level. I also miss when GM's smaller truck was the size of the S10. GM, like all the other manufacturers, seems to have realized the potential of making it a cash cow. It's beautiful nonetheless, but looks more like the departed LTZ level Silverado than an "off-road" truck, especially with the larger 18" wheels.

    Pros: Looks better than the current generation. Fantastic interior. Standard infotainment with Google Maps. More powerful, more efficient powertrain.
    Cons: With every redesign of this truck, it gets more technically fussy and less work truck practical. Very disappointing for a guy like me who needs a proper stripped work truck with 2-doors and a 6ft bed, but doesn't want nor need a full-sizer for my urban running around.

    • @erikh3867
      @erikh3867 2 роки тому +3

      agreed ive been waiting for this truck for about a year and im truly disappointed with no longer bed option. its probably going to make me go elsewhere and get another full size truck when i was looking to downsize for the benefits of mpg and easier manuvering in my urban setting. i use my trucks for work as well and the fact is that there is way more people nowadays buying pickups for everyday use than there is for work. i tow about 5K lbs 4 days a week and the midsize trucks are now able to sufficiently handle that on a daily basis but the lack of a longer bed makes this truck just about useless for carrying a full set of tools or any building materials.

      I plan to keep my 2004 1500 HD as my primary truck. Then use the Colorado as a second car to carry groceries because although the engine has been reinforced, this sorry excuse for a truck will never become what work trucks have been for the last 80 years. And that goes for the full size as well.

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum 2 роки тому +2

      @@erikh3867 I fully agree. I work in renovations and need a 6ft bed for hauling sheets of drywall, plywood, lumber, pallets of flooring, etc. and hauling junk away to the landfill. A 6ft bed is the sweet spot for me. I never have more than 1 passenger with me, so sacrificing bed size for 4-doors and a backseat (plus contending with a longer wheelbase making it harder to maneuver in the city) is a no-go for me. My 2007 Canyon 4x2 regular cab has been the perfect truck for my needs for the last 15yrs. These truck manufacturers aren't coming out with anything new to convince me it's time to upgrade since they're not making anything to accommodate my needs. It's pretty frustrating that guys like me are of no consideration in the midsize truck market any longer.

      Don't keep buying new vehicles because... "It looks better" that's just stupid and is exactly what the manufacturers want. Just keep spending and get yourself into more debt. You already have a vehicle that gets you from point A to point B. And you should be concentrating on getting your debt paid off, not continually adding to it. People are so dumb these days and irresponsible. 70% of the U.S. population doesn't even have 400.00 saved up for a small emergency. They just spend and spend piling on the debt. And that won't end well.

      @@BooBoo-vo6oh If you're getting a Hemi you're not even looking at a mid-sized truck such as the Colorado in the first place. Also the Hemi has had cylinder deactivation since it was brought back in 2005. That's one way it helped deal with Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards.

    • @BooBoo-vo6oh

      @@briandeiwert5911 with the failure rate of gm's cylinder deactivation and the price of the Colorado vs a full size hemisphere, I is a no brainer to get a truck with the power and confidence of a pickup truck. As an owner of a 2004 1500 HD, the second most impressive truck I have driven is hemi with 3:93 gear ratio. So that is where I will put my money. Colorado's are not meant to work hard but to go fast and I can get a jeep renegade for that. Displacement is everything in a truck and a lawnmower engine with a turbo is not going to cut it. Thanks for the info though I wasn't aware since I have always been a loyal chevrolet owner.

    I like this chevy and its sister the Canyon. On paper and in photos, they look the part and are impressive! But, they are gm. They will do well only if gm's typical quality doesn't rear its ugly head. If they keep the recalls down and can have vehicles in the showrooms, people will buy them. Also, the new Toyota Tacuma is on the horizon and that will be a compelling vehicle as always so let's see how they stack up!
