What your thoughts about pursuing CCT, Certified Cardiographic Technician, after a year of experience as an EKG tech? You'll have an opportunity to conduct stress tests, holter monitoring, and assist with open heart surgeries.
Hi. Good question. I think it’s always a great idea to add certifications to a resume. However, some employers do on the job training. I would check to see if I even need a certification for a particular job advancement before investing in the certification.
I’m planning to take an ecg course and I receive a certificate once completed. Does that count as being certified or do I need to actually take a program and pass an exam?
I became an EKG Technician without certification. I started working in the ER as an Emergency Care Aide and they taught me how to do EKGs on the job. I did that and then was able to use that skill to switch to the Cardiology department doing only EKGs.

Hi. No. I don’t think it is female dominated.
Hey Brandon, I'm a new hire (EKG Tech) at one of the hospitals in my city and I'm the only male EKG Tech in that facility 🤣 I get what you mean about feeling out of place. One of the things I noticed as to why it may be female dominant is because of the ability for women to break the ice with patients more easily, and engage in conversation so that there is no "dead air" or awkward silence. One of the things you need to be mindful of imo
@@maxputil thanks !
Question do you have to be amazing at mathematics for this profession
From my experience, no. You will need to be able to recognize that the rhythm is accurate before completing the exam. Know your rhythms!
@@JanineAmei wow thanks for the quick response
Finding a program has been so difficult. I stumbled upon preppy- have you ever heard of this?
Hi! I’ve heard of it yes! But I haven’t used it. If your end goal is to get a job as a EKG Tech, be sure the school you attend is accredited and meets the accreditation type according to the facility you’re trying to work at. And not just a course for basic information to provide awareness.
As an ekg tech, are you sitting at a desk all day or are you on your feet too?
You’re definitely on your feet lol there will be times when you can sit.
@@JanineAmei thank you for replying! Also, I’m planning to take an ECG course at my community college. It’s about 6 weeks and I’ll be given a certificate once I pass the course. My question is, is this certificate accepted by employers or do employers prefer an actual program, which I think can take up to a year or so?
@@chetlynn Yw! I would contact the facilities you plan to apply at. They may be able to tell you what schools and certifications they accept. Good luck 🍀
Is this a easy job to do I apply it
In my opinion, yes. Good luck 🍀
I'm glad to hear it's easy!! I just got a job as one & I'm a little nervous. I'm sure every hospital is different tho. It seems strange to have this as a whole job. Like, can't the unit tech just do the EKGs? Do you attend cardiac attests? And do you ever feel like you're in the way? Is this job mostly a stepping stone to better things or is it something you can do as a career? Sorry for all the questions lol. Thanks for your time ✌️
How is the Ekg Job going?@@angelbogart539
Does it have travel ekg technician jobs?
I am unsure. I don’t believe that’s an option for EKG techs. I suggest you do some research on it. Good luck 🍀
Do you have downtime?
@@Supacool_KennyCash Yes! But when it’s busy it’s BUSY lol
@@JanineAmei I’m going to start the National certification program with Preppy. I live in Texas but want to move to Washington state. I was a Certified Nurse Aide years ago but I’m not interested in that kind of position anymore!
