Hi 👋🏽 The hours are dependent upon what the facilities needs are. The ER, in my opinion, is an experience in its own. The ER/ED typically is the busiest unit.

Hi! I’ve heard of it yes! But I haven’t used it. If your end goal is to get a job as a EKG Tech, be sure the school you attend is accredited and meets the accreditation type according to the facility you’re trying to work at. And not just a course for basic information to provide awareness.

Hi! I’m sure I answered this question, but I do not draw blood🩸 As an EKG Tech you shouldn’t have to. I was assume you’d only draw blood if you’re certified in some area like phlebotomy.

If requested, I do both. Interpret aloud in the patient room because usually there’s a Doctor and nurses in the room. That’s when I interpret and only then will I. My responsibility is to perform the EKG and chart the results. Interpretation for medical records is on the Doctors. That’s their duty lol.

Another ekg tech I watched said her machine told her what rhythm her patient had so she didn’t have to worry interpreting it herself. Or maybe it depends on the machine used in different hospitals?

From my experience, no. You will need to be able to recognize that the rhythm is accurate before completing the exam. Know your rhythms!

I'm glad to hear it's easy!! I just got a job as one & I'm a little nervous. I'm sure every hospital is different tho. It seems strange to have this as a whole job. Like, can't the unit tech just do the EKGs? Do you attend cardiac attests? And do you ever feel like you're in the way? Is this job mostly a stepping stone to better things or is it something you can do as a career? Sorry for all the questions lol. Thanks for your time ✌️

@@JanineAmei thank you for replying! Also, I’m planning to take an ECG course at my community college. It’s about 6 weeks and I’ll be given a certificate once I pass the course. My question is, is this certificate accepted by employers or do employers prefer an actual program, which I think can take up to a year or so?

I agree💯psych can be fun for a while but yes, it can be difficult & burnout is common. Depends on you & your personality. If you can see the worst kind of pain, the ugliest of humanity & not let it get to you & not take it home you'll be good. The psych world needs good people so if you know you can handle it go for it! It's really rewarding work & you can make a difference & help people which is so good for the soul. The one drawback when I was working psych was the pay! It's a crime how little I got paid to do that difficult work. Hope they pay better now. Anyway, good luck to you✌️
