OMG, I LOVE these, Thank You both John and Jerry for your work you do in making these. They are a great contribution to history as I've mentioned before. It's also just entertaining as hell listening to you 2.
John Hansen is the absolute best! So genuine. And such an honest guy. Love the memories of all your videos. But the best memories I have are all our workouts together at Hamarz Gym, with you, Johnny "Wide" Hansen, and Chuckie "Chiseled" Sanow and Dave and Jerry and all the others, are memories I'll never forget. Thanks for all the entertainment, John!
it was great to listen to you guys. i feel motivated and inspired when i listen to young body builders but when i hear you two reminiscing about history, talking of dangers of body building, how cautious they have to be and so on, it balances out what i get from younger generations. much respect
I absolutely love these year in review. Both you John and Jerry are legends. I cannot get enough of your videos. May god bless you, and keep these gems coming. Thank you
Just watched some old 1982 music videos and there was a young Mike Christian as one of Diana Ross's guys on the great "Muscles" video.Ahh good ol' days
Pro bodybuilding has not been about “fitness” for decades. When I started training in 1966 it was all about a fitness lifestyle, whether one competed or not.
I start light pushing with muscle only hi reps Pyramid up less reps speed u too my heart rate goes up Remember your heart is also a muscle and needs its exercise by moving fast with speed controlling the weight
I disagree in that I think Haney was a lever above Yates here. Each muscle looks marginally but noticeably nicer when considered in isolation but the combination, which includes the narrower waist, adds up to a better look in my opinion, and looks healthier.
Weight training can extend Life & Health span, high protein and calories not so much. The longest living Healthiest people in the world eat quite moderately. So it's diet, not lifting that can be the detrimental factor in bodybuilding. People dont talk about the diet, always blame everything bad on the PED's. Anyone studying the blue zones and human longevity will find this out
Tom was great when he was on, but his health started to fail quickly and he couldn't hit his Peak. 3rd at NOC back then was nothing to sneeze at! Vince had horrible gyno at that 91 Ironman! What a transformation he made by 91 O! Therry was ridiculous!Awesome physique. I think he was more like 5'4.
Dorian said that he first took insulin in 1994. He said that he looked much bigger in 93 because he didn't diet as hard as he did in 1992. He said that he couod have been just as big in 1992 but chise to be smaller.
I thought I read somewhere Sergio said Diego was just a little taller but suspected he had more potential because he was already stronger than him without weightlifting. I hadn't heard him say he was twice his size but maybe he was larger in his memory by then or with each retelling.
I’m 56, 57 in March. I want you guys to train me. I have the body parts and shape. 5’10 220 lbs arms, neck and calves proportional. No gut issue. I can vacuum even though I don’t practice it. I can send some pictures
It was not really HIT (or Heavy Duty) that caused Yates’ injuries. They were caused by him moving a little away from that style of training as it was taught to him by Mike Mentzer. He was not taking enough rest between workouts which was something Mentzer was adamant about.
That is absolute bs. He injured himself because he trained to heavy and beyond failure to close to the show. He was miles ahead of Mentzer in his knowleadge who was already a trainwreck when they did meet
@@krystofodehnal9448 Well, wouldn’t training too heavy and beyond failure be less likely to cause an injury if you allow more rest days between workouts? That’s what I’m saying.
Vince Taylor is one of a number of high rep moderate weight bodybuilders so was Nimrod King, Rich Piana, Tony Pearson, Phil Health etc Also "stimulate dont annihilate" Lee Haney didnt go super heavy and had plenty size with almost no injuries

Jerry and John are on great form here. Fantastic questions and answers from both
Two of the absolute greatest class acts in Bodybuilding. Could listen to these two for hours on end. Please, keep it coming!

Great to see another video from you John. Jerry and you should have weekly podcast.

I love you two shooting the breeze about the history and true lifestyle of bodybuilding as it should be

Two of mine favourite experts 👍💪❤️
1991 also had arguably the best national lineup ever. Crazy year for bodybuilding
Good dam these physiques are out of this world unbelievable
Prince looks unbelievable here. Its crazy how bbs didnt have distension other than momo (in my opinion started that) at this time..
Just watched some old 1982 music videos and there was a young Mike Christian as one of Diana Ross's guys on the great "Muscles" video.Ahh good ol' days
I agree with Thiery pastel. Hes the most underrated bodybuilder in history. The guy was perfect. If he won the Olympia i wouldn't have complained
You guys should look at Logan Franklin. Very aesthetic and a fantastic throwback to the 70s/early 80s.
Great dialogue 👍

Tom Prince is huge and sliced😮👍
RIP Tom
Funny how in the 91 Olympia they had Dorian and Lee on the end competing for one and two. Not in the middle like now a days. Cool nonetheless.
Testosterone is a must today
And food is growing very depleted with less nutrients
Believe it or not,Al Beckles was 53 years old at the '84 Olympia! In '91 he was 60!!!
39:33 yes Dorian was Huge back stage I placed 7th as a heavyweight I was 210lbs 1994 junior USA 🇺🇸.
I start light pushing with muscle only hi reps
Pyramid up less reps speed u too my heart rate goes up

How is Richard Baldwin doing? He’s always a great contributor on here
Cedric had a great body
Sandwich wallet great idea, that’s one biggggg wallet

What a Baloney Sandwich 🥪 Jerry, as Dorian improved so would have Haney! He would have beaten Dorian if he had stayed in the Game .

Hi guys! Happy holidays!
So Heres my question John. Do you believe that Mike ashley could have been lifetime natty? I do FYI
Haney would have lost to Dorian in 92/93. Great champion that retired at the right time.
omg i cant believe my eyes Thierry Pastel is stacked
Beckles wss in his best shap at that Niagra an he beat some great guys! 91 was a great year!

John you forgot Andrew Jack
Another thought-provoking discussion. I hope John continues to talk more with Jerry in future podcasts.
Lee Haney in 1991 was simply too much for Dorian Yates. He was Mass Muscle with Class!!!
Lee Haney absolutely overwhelmed Yates! He was just that good.
You forget Dorian won the muscularity round. Haney won on shape and posing
