I'm totally with you, Erica. I graduated from law school, too and am just starting out on my career path. I wish I could have heard this podcast during my most confused days, but I figured it out, thanks to a bit of luck and stubbornness. As a law student, we're often fed this image of lawyers as glamorous and elite, which sets us up with unrealistically high expectations for our careers. When I first started at the law firm as a newbie, I was overwhelmed by the grunt work and the reality of the job. But as I learned to separate my personal identity from my work, I found peace within myself and discovered how to find joy even when the work was overwhelming. The way I've grown my mindset and tackled obstacles has been far more valuable than the actual work I do. Realizing this gave me the strength to persevere, and as I stuck with it, I began to see the true value in my work. It's been a journey of mutual growth, and I'm grateful for the insights from where I stand now.😉
It's amazing that you came to this realisation! totally agree with the vision we get sold from media about being a lawyer ... it's always so important to listen to yourself and how you feel about situations, even if it contradicts what we're sold ! :)
Moral of this video:-
You can't neglect your job but you can discover your buffers through which you can enjoy.
