The genius of the costumes is staggering. Painting ruffles onto Mary’s skirt is absolutely brilliant. It makes so much sense to blend the two worlds and to go to that extent is amazing.
Well, Sandy is one of our leading costume designers - so glad she was chosen. The painted costumes in the Royal Doulton sequence is particularly original. Great songs and orchestration - fantastic dance sequences!
When Dick Van Dyke starts singing in Cherry Tree Lane.. that was magic. Really enjoyed this film, even though I didn't think I would. But the passion and love for this project is clear for all to see. Well done to all involved :)
Initially I wanted to see this movie solely for Lin Manuel-Miranda but I left falling in love with everyone, specifically Ben Whishaw. I thought he was a standout actor for me. Speaking from experience, when you have an emotional role like he does, it's very easy to overdue it but he did it SO well! He was really believable and added 1000 layers of likability to him.

I saw this movie 4 times in the theatres and listened to the soundtrack, an uncountable amount of times. I kinda discovered the magic in my life again because of the movie, which also kinda opened my eyes to Lin Manuel Miranda. I wish I had found him earlier, I'd heard his name before, but it never clicked until this movie, now I am obsessed with Hamilton and Lin has such a beautiful soul, he's the gift that just keeps on giving and is now one of my favorite people ever.
Do you know he's also writing The Little Mermaid live-action next movie soundtrack with the original composer of the 1989 animated movie? Can't wait to listen to it!!!
I went in having forgotten much of the original and remembering much of the stage version. I loved the imaginative sequences with water, animation, and Topsy, and Lin-Manuel's proving himself a theatrical jack-of-all-stages. I liked hearing that the music was being written with the film, as it clearly shows that the third verse of "The Cover Is Not The Book" was written for him and his Hamiltonian talents. Topsy's scene might have had a hidden musical metaphor in it that I just picked up on. "Turning Turtle" starts off strongly traditional Eastern European, reminiscent of Fiddler on the Roof, then switches to the then-new form of jazz. Just like Topsy's views on Second Wednesdays - first all traditional "oh I HATE this disruption", then all new "ooh, I love this new point of view!". I think my favorite songs are "Cover is not the Book", "Turning Turtle", and "Trip A Little Light Fantastic". Honorable mentions to the rest of the soundtrack. Overall, exquisite movie, I recommended it to friends who also greatly enjoyed it.
The songs and story are as much for adults as well as children. Its all about looking foward to the next day and dont be stuck in the darkness. I love that underlying theme.
Such a beautiful movie. I didn’t realise how emotional I would feel watching it. Truly looking forward to seeing this movie in a theatre. This is definitely a movie that should be seen in the theatre but should be in everyone's home video/movie collection as well.
When I originally saw the trailer, I had just assumed that they had CGI'ed Dick Van Dyke's head onto someone else's body as he's dancing on the desk. To find out that, no, he actually did that is just... flooring. He is simply amazing.
Watching this again, I am so grateful the film was finished by 2019, just before the pandemic. It was intact and safe before they could never have accomplished it.

As an "original" Mary Poppins fan (born 1959 with MP being my first big screen experience) I was skeptical about MPR, but I was absolutely moved to tears by this movie.
Such a magnificent marvellous and extremely joyful film!
Made me feel like a child again watched with my four daughters in the cinema we were all singing and crying it amazing
Very glad that they put items in this movie from the first movie it bring memories when you see parts from the first, also love seeing Dick Van Dyke playing in this. Never forget Matthew Garber, (Michael Banks), RIP Left us so young 21
Truly looking forward to seeing this movie in a theatre. This is definitely a movie that should be seen in the theatre but should be in everyone's home video/movie collection as well.
Simply adored the film! Can't wait to get my own copy!
When I originally saw the trailer, I had just assumed that they had CGI'ed Dick Van Dyke's head onto someone else's body as he's dancing on the desk. To find out that, no, he actually did that is just... flooring. He is simply amazing.
The music literally just.. MAKES ME WANT TO SOB. It’s literally so good. I’m gonna cry lol
gorgeous i love this i want hours more of behind the scenes
I saw this last weekend and absolutely loved it
This movie was so awesome! I'm so glad I convinced my mom to watch this on my birthday!
Watching this again, I am so grateful the film was finished by 2019, just before the pandemic. It was intact and safe before they could never have accomplished it.
25:27 that’s litteraly what I did while watching the movie.
I’m only 19 but I know Mary Poppins by heart, and watching the sequel made me feel like a child again.
I absolutely love it and the feeling of joy it brought me was just supercalifragilisticexpialidocious ! :)
5:28 "GIVE IT UP FOR MERYL STREEP!!"
we love a talented af mom
Well when life is tough, just Trip A Little Light Fantastic.
i love how the casted a latino in a british type role. another innovative film. he's a fabulous actor/artist.
In all fairness, the whole cast and everyone behind the scene did give justice to the legendary Julie Andrew's original version of Mary Poppins which I also love. Yes, Emily Blunt was indeed the best choice to play this role. Bravo!
I absolutely love this film.
Though if they ever do make another one I'd like to see a touch more originality.
I do love it as well
I do too.
Same. And according to Rob Marshall, there will be more films.
They made it a similar format to the original movie, so that people could enjoy something new but also feel that it was familiar.
If it aint broke dont fix it, although i too felt it lacked originality. They know what they are doing . They know the formula is nostalgia and keeping the things everyone loved form the 1st, one the animation. The penguins, etc,
Mary Poppins Returns is a masterpiece. Utterly unique- nothing else like it in the past 30 or 40 years.
This movie really did grant me my childhood back.
Love this movie and the original one will always love both of them
Instant classic. Fantastic film. Mary Poppins belongs on the Disney Mt Rushmore
Beautiful story and amazing movie, we need more films like this 🙂
This warms my heart! Thanks
I love Mary poppins
I am hoping this movie's a sign 2d will return to disney.
Pro Wolf they had to get old pros to do the 2d animation
This movie deserved so many Oscars
Haven't seen the movie yet, but the costumes and the sets look amazing
They made it a masterpiece
Like the original
And just like the original it will take a while before people realise how brilliant a film it is
Knowing and being a fan of Emily Blunt, I'm so lucky and happy. She's amazing that you always amazed how great actress she is.
captivating!
Yeah it is
