I don't fully understand all the terms these days for sexuality, but I fully support Wayne Brady and anyone else in being who they are and being free to love who and as they wish. Wayne is a great actor and singer. Wishing him continuing happiness and looking forward to seeing more of his work - loved him on The Bold And The Beautiful and he's a lot of fun on Let's Make A Deal.

Pansexual and bisexual are different.
I was glad he admitted he has clinical depression. A lot of black men will not even admit they have it and don't seek help. I single out black men because I also am a black man that deals with clinical depression. In the black community, people don't want to talk about men being depressed. That is a sign of weakness to some of us. The solution is always going to church, rather than going to therapy or getting medication to treat it. I am not knocking being active in the church, but I said to someone I had cancer the first thing they would say is, "are you going to see the doctor?" Why isn't the same thing being said about clinical depression? It is also an illness that needs medical attention. I will be honest about something. I don't see the difference between "pansexual" and "bisexual". True enough, you can be attracted to someone based on their personality. But, that isn't how human sexuality works. You are attracted to people physically first, then comes the personality aspect. It isn't the other way around. I don't see the big deal of saying you are bisexual, why do we have to keep making up terms? Anyway, good luck Wayne Brady. I hope you are happy for many years to come.

Men of any colour struggle to talk about their feelings and to accept their depression. It's seen as a sign of weakness in most cultures. This obviously needs to change everywhere! As for not knowing the difference between bisexual and pansexual; bisexual can mean one is attracted to people of their own gender, and people of other genders, but not all of them. So a bisexual person could be attracted to men and non-binary people, women and non-binary people, men and women only or a specific range of non-binary people. So bisexual people can exclude certain genders, as it were. Pansexual people, however, exclude no one. A Pansexual person is attracted to people of any gender whatsoever. The terms can be, and are, used interchangeably though, it's only that the second category are happy to be seen to be a bit more specific.

@@OddOne251 If you read my comment thoroughly, I was speaking of this issue as related to the black community. Specifically black men. I am a black man and I have clinical depression. That is another reason why I mentioned it. No one said other races of people don't go through it. But the point you totally missed is in the black community, going to therapy is frowned upon. There are some that think therapy is for white people. There aren't even a lot (if any) mental health centers within the black community.
In America we are overly obsessed with people’s sexual orientation which when declared publicly becomes a permanent label attached to that individual. These labels are completely distinct from the talent, skills and love a person shares with the world. What goes on in someone’s Bedroom is Private and IMO should remain that way not be ushered out into public for scrutiny or analysis. Someday, possibly, all humanity will be ‘PanSexual’ but without the label affixed to the behavior, simply free to love whomever we wish.
We are not obsessed they throw it in our face and then get mad if we don't agree. I have never went around telling people I am straight so why do they come out as all these weird things.
I agree with almost everything you say my only Caveat will be how you reduced it to just the bedroom. It's being able to love another Human being who maybe the same sex as you emotionally Mentally Physically Spitually. Love is ❤. It's more than just the bedroom..
How does it distract from his talent? It's just another aspect of his life. Being comfortable in his own skin will only add to his talent.

Is it like the journey to recovery? For example what a person has to go through when they suffer a catastrophic physical injury like the loss of limbs and has a long journey ahead going through a painful, timely recovery and rehabilitation?

Maybe even all three. Any show or movie that doesn’t is criticized for not having enough diversity. Even kids shows are going in this direction. Popular music celebrates and promotes almost all kinds of sexual activity. Pride month is now a big, profitable event. News stories about people coming out as LGBTQ+ and stories of trans children are ubiquitous. Books about LGBTQ+ characters are practically in every public library and school. Wayne Brady’s coming out can definitely be beneficial to his career. It gets him publicity and he will have more supporters than critics, so it’s certainly not detrimental. This isn’t the 1950’s. Coming out is very much celebrated in the entertainment industry right now. It’s actually a smart career move.

Seeing Pride parade and having a full month dedicated to it is amazing. Introducing it into kids programming is one of the best ideas as well as books. More still needs to be done.

Umm, it's saying you're not ready to say you're gay, which most people probably assumed anyway.
No, it's different. Basically, you can be attracted to anyone of any orientation, gender, sex. It's different from Bi-sexual in that sense. That just means you like both men or women, but these days it's way more complicated than that. Hence, pansexual.
With more than two genders being more frequently acknowledged these days, a bisexual is free to be attracted to, for instance, their own sex and men, their own sex and non-binary people or men and women, but not *all* genders. So a bisexual can say they're not attracted to non-binary people. Whereas pansexuals are attracted to people of ANY gender, no exceptions, and that attraction is often based on certain traits rather than just looks.
