I am 65 yrs old, grew up with Marvin Gaye. I still dance to this song. Thank you MARVIN GAYE!!! Miss his music. I only can imagine what his music would be like today.❤❤
I was in basic training at Ft. Polk, La. was when I heard that song for the first time! After 4 weeks, Drill Sergeants let you go to the lo the nearby store for a burger but no beer!
My opinion rq…..Look at these people of color just so beautiful and full of energy just literally glowing from wall to wall with sweat and beautiful black and brown skin tones. The 70s was just was just such a golden time for African Americans we understood our worth, we understand the importance of being black, even though things weren’t easy in America we still had our secret little outlets like “Soul Train” to let people know we’re black and we’re mf proud!!!! We spoke to each other through soul and funk and continued to show our kids which they passed to theirs we didn’t hide these beautiful things in our cultural, we didn’t cancel anybody out, everybody got a seat at the table and enjoyed it. This is just so beautiful man no other words to describe it so many smiles so many beautiful black people in one room and Marvin’s voice and amazing dance moves just made it more worth wild I love this nothing brings me joy than soul train. Let’s continue to celebrate us beautiful black people!🫶🏾❤️ P.S. I’m 22 I wish I was born in this era just to experience it!
Which is why I do these types of things on my front porch with the little bit of friends I have and the little bit of family I choose to deal with🤷🏾♂️
I'm a white guy and love this song... Grand Master Flash, my fav of all time Sugar Hill Gang... The Brothers Johnson... Barry White...Cameo... The Ohio Players...Al Green...I could go on and on. Love em all
this was the episode where he and don cornelius played one on one. smokey robinson referred the game! this segment was titled "marvin's victory party!"
I grew listening to this music, although too young to go to discotheques. From New Orleans, we love good music. Unfortunately, when my dad was driving me to school, the radio news informed us he had passed. Great musician & singer.
Marvin is a angel sent from above Lesson to his music real good He was singing about things happening then and now. Godbless M.G. and anyone who reads this. 🙏 💃🕴️💗

"Got to Give It Up" is a song by American music artist Marvin Gaye. Written by the singer and produced by Art Stewart as a response to a request from Gaye's record label that he perform disco music, it was released in March 1977. Upon its release, it topped three different Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, and became a worldwide success. Gaye sometimes used the song to open his concerts. The song has been covered by several acts. Source Wikipedia
Love this man and so sad his father was so jealous of his success and so warped to kill him when Marvin did all he could to please his father even given him a house setting him up to never be concerned financially
I am a kid of the 70s and I never knew that this song, which is one of my favorite songs of all time, was sang by the great Marvin Gaye! Hail to the best! I immediately recognized this song when "Blurred Lines" was played! I loved watching Soul Train every Saturday Morning, but now I wonder why it came on so early! LOL!!!! Not that it mattered though! I would never miss it! Thank you for this channel! xxxooo
Mr Marvin Gaye....THANK YOU for the happy memories you give me...and of course, your Music...I lost my dad 2 weeks before my 5th bday and I remember him LOVING Marvin! Actually it "Shake Your Body Down To The Ground". On the long version of "Got To Give It Up", Marvin ab-lib "Let's Dance, Let's Shout". Michael heard that and wrote song lyrics while Randy wrote that piano riff.

Marvin Gaye was a Baaaddd Man musically. His music is incredible!!✊🏿🎉🙏🏿
His music is music for the soul, and from what I know and read in the books he fully embraced his musical potential after leaving Motown.
Loved Marvin Gaye as I was growing up in the 1970s. He was a genius and left this world too soon!

Back when love and soul collided, put the groove in the music. Music from the 60s and especially the 70s will never be matched.
This is when going out was fun and safe. Thank you Soul Train. Going out dancing today you may get killed. Boy how the good old days are gone.

As long as Berry Gordy is alive, it won't happen because in the early days of Motown, Marvin was married to Berry's sister Anna.
