I read an interview with her that when she started touring with Bowie he wanted her to learn over 80 songs as he liked to vary the playlist while on tour. She admitted to struggling with that as she doesn't read music and has to learn new songs by repetition. It was an interesting interview.
Amazing bassist AND singer, she's on a very short list of singers who could pull off the duet with Bowie on "Under Pressure". Oh, and one of the coolest-looking people ever, too.
Would love to hear you two listen to original lbum version too which really has excellent production and features your friend and mine Robert Fripp on lead guitar, but be sure to listen to the full version rather than the video version which cuts the song down a few minutes. Great reaction. So good to see Tony. Definitely going to buy his new album. He is so creative in his music production talent.
My Bowie favourite remains……Sound and Vision…90 second intro but what a bop….the live version with honky tonk piano style is fab. I treasure my picture disk vinyl single.
Very cool that you have Visconti on, but wouldn't it make more sense to play the studio version that he actually produced, instead of this very different live version?
One of the great things about Bowie was, you never knew which interpretation he would put on his own song....I heard about some music fan complaining that the music he heard wasn't like on his CD....
I always loved Bowie's danceable songs....I remember he was on Soul Train and it looked so funny to see this thin white dude performing on there 😆 (He actually did have the nickname the thin white duke)
I like these song suggestions Tony is giving, but why these live versions. They have actual official videos to really check out the songs in their studio glory. The mix and intertwining of the layers are what made them great in the first place.
Next listen to the original single recording to get all the production sounds you didn't get here. Amazing. This was the big song of that era of Bowie.
Love these, to learn more and more about these amazing artist's like the Iconic Bowie. Thank u Tony Visconti. Bowie was Fashion, decade after decade of fabulous. Thanx so much, stay groovy, Peace
Back around '86, in my college TV Production class, I made a video using this song. It had a dancing girl dressed to the nines, a metronome, and an EKG readout. That beat is thumpin.
Love you guys. I think it's unfortunate that you used the live versions of Fashion and Ashes To Ashes. The live versions are great, and basically the same, but they are very different from the versions Tony Visconti produced on the album. I guess you had to use them due to copyright problems. Some people suggested watching the original music videos, but then you get into the visuals (Which are amazing!), and away from the music. Just audio tracks from the album would have been great. Great insights from Tony Visconti! More please!🙂
As many here have said the studio takes are so much better - we are missing the nuances - this is after all a reaction in the presence of Tony Visconti the original producer of the recorded song! You made a good point about the original music videos being a distraction from the music however I guess if Jay and Amber were playing just the audio without any video footage this would be a bit of a dry academic analysis.
I've seen other channels react to the Ashes To Ashes music video with no problems. The video maybe could be distracting, but I think it accentuates the song more than it distracts. It's totally inexplicable that J and Amber would pick live versions of each to react to. Just "why?"
David Bowie was one of a kind man he was just awesome is music to span the decades I know my wife and I truly miss this one one of our favorite movies with the labyrinth
Jay with your love of bass you should check out the great Jaco Pastorius. Yes he’s jazz but played it like a rock star. I would go with classic Weather Report like “Teen Town” or “Birdland”. Jaco plays fretless base as a lead instrument. WR also features the great Wayne Shorter on Sax and Joe Zawinul on keys.
Several years ago, Tony produced a song called "The Dragon Cries" by a band called Band-Maid. They're an all-female hard rock band from Japan, but this particular song is all in English. You should react to it! Tony thought highly enough of the band to ask to work with them 😊
As others said, look up the studio version of that song. Robert Fripp of King Crimson was brought in to provide "Hairy chested rock n roll guitar" And his playing is downright scary on that song. The funny thing is that Fripp and Bowie found common ground in the both of them being prim and proper English gentlemen, and you'd never expect these well-spoken men to make music that sounds like that.
Hey Jay & Amber, you two are doing an amazing job. I love the guest appearances and having them on to share in your reactions. What a great idea, you two rock🚀 I thought I'd suggest a female/Friday, if interested. "Faith Hill - Breathe (Official Video)" (by the channel: Faith Hill) --This song is from her fourth studio album called "Breathe" released in 1999. This album is one of the most successful country-pop albums of all time, and Hills bestselling album to date.
If yall haven't already, you need to check "The Climax Blues Band". Start with the song "Couldn't Get it Right" record version. The live version is lacking.
my FAVORITE bowie! :) (no, wait, it'd have to be at least #2, next to my next under-appreciated one, #1 "loving the alien"...) and i =love= this direction you two are taking, in welcoming guests!! (i'd just watched your newest with the 'young rascals' dude... that k*cked a**!! ;0) i love watching 'appreciations' of the music my grandparents considered 'rock n' roll', back in the day! ;) (and that's =not meant= to be depreciating AT ALL, i LOVE hearing that stuff once in awhile ;)
I have recently subscribed but have watched your channel many many times and I love your reactions. Have you ever heard of Jo Stafford? She has an incredible voice and I would love to see your reaction to her singing the song “You Belong To Me”. Thank you, love you guys 👍🏻
Tony is an absolute LEGEND, but it’s an utter disservice to the his genius to not afford a listen to the man’s work on the studio cuts. The live versions eschew much of the studio wizardry he executed on them and what made them so special. Great concept pulling in the people that helped make these albums and songs what they are…but at least listen to the version that showcases their work.
Having Tony Visconti in to introduce Bowie is like having Albert Einstein in to introduce Physics. :D Great coup, RS.
💯.
The brilliant Tony Visconti! ❤ The one and only Bowie, I grinned through this entire review!
Interesting live version, but I do recommend the studio version, which Tony produced, after all!
Robert Fripp’s guitar on the studio original version is mad genius!
O my, Robert Fripp, love it. Excited as he is on the channel..greatness❤
Surprised y'all went with the live version of this, but hey, it's still killer Bowie. Tony is such a legend! Love hearing his input.
Tony Visconti is the GOAT 🐐
Guys, getting Tony Visconti to discuss Bowie songs...WOW. So. Freakin. Cool. Thanks Tony for your great work!!!!!!
Love Bowie so much, so hurt when he went back to his home planet. ❤😊
proof that both artists and now producers are watching these reaction videos. I loved Visconti's work with Morrisey
💯.
You can change it to "We're the Rob Squad and we're coming to town - BEEP BEEP!"
Nice.
Gail Ann Dorsey is beyond a talented bass player. She was with Bowie for over a decade.
I think she’s the same bass player who backed Lenny Kravitz on “The Chamber” bass and vocals! 😊
@@sussexdel4310 she did. She was with him for a while. I believe she left the States and lives in France.
She's just a stunner in every way .

Yay !!🎉🎉🎉❤❤Omg ! How good was Bowie and his incredibly talented fellow musicians.!
BOWIE WAS HIS OWN "GENRE"💋💋💋💋💋
My Bowie favourite remains……Sound and Vision…90 second intro but what a bop….the live version with honky tonk piano style is fab. I treasure my picture disk vinyl single.
Yes, GREAT SONG!!!
Visconti is the GOAT!
Love your episodes with Tony! Such a legend!!
Very cool that you have Visconti on, but wouldn't it make more sense to play the studio version that he actually produced, instead of this very different live version?
Seems kind of insulting to their guest, doesn't it?
Have to say, I much prefer the studio version of this track - fantastic song
Wow!!! You got Tony!!!
I ADORE this song from the legend that is David Bowie. Thank you Tony for the music ❤️
this song is a bop! 🎵We are the goon squad and we're coming to town Beep-beep, beep-beep' 🎵
Robert Fripp's guitar on this track is incredible.
Thank you so much! It's one of my absolute favorite Bowie songs. "Rebel Rebel" and "Scary Monsters (Super Freaks) are also must do songs of his.
I wish you would have reacted to the official video it's so much better
One of the great things about Bowie was, you never knew which interpretation he would put on his own song....I heard about some music fan complaining that the music he heard wasn't like on his CD....
Gotta see the studio version.
The whole album Scary Monsters...is excellent. Bowie live = Always Different and surrounded by quality musicians and back up singers.
Absolutely a classic. How good is Teenage Wildlife.
@@Joshualuv13 Yes, Good tune, but my favorite is a tie between Ashes to Ashes and Up The Hill Backwards. Peace 🙂
I always loved Bowie's danceable songs....I remember he was on Soul Train and it looked so funny to see this thin white dude performing on there 😆 (He actually did have the nickname the thin white duke)

This song is still used in fashion shows to this day, very popular song esp during the 80’s & 90’s when the fashions were directly inspired by music
Station to Station, David Bowie
TVC 15
Love these, to learn more and more about these amazing artist's like the Iconic Bowie. Thank u Tony Visconti. Bowie was Fashion, decade after decade of fabulous. Thanx so much, stay groovy, Peace
I must say, you two just blow me away! I may not cover every reaction but I do get most of them.
Y’all are my favorite.
Good stuff
Love Bowie. ❤
This was so interesting, really enjoyed this information about David Bowie ❤
Back around '86, in my college TV Production class, I made a video using this song. It had a dancing girl dressed to the nines, a metronome, and an EKG readout. That beat is thumpin.
Ziggy Stardust one of my favorite albums of all time
This was great. Have you done Bowie's "The Jean Genie".
I saw the others reactions of bowie, how you get tony Visconti legenddddd!!!! 😮❤ Greets from Chile
Great choice of Bowie song. The man definitely exudes confidence, genius & sex appeal.
My favorite song of his.
this is insane, visconti a legend
You should listen to "Blackstar" and "Lazarus ". Bowie recorded those songs while he was dying from cancer
A must to try from the 70's.. Judie tzuke and stay with me till dawn. She has the most beautiful voice 😊
This song is an absolute MASTERPIECE.
David is and will always be a icon a complete artist. ❤
Wow. You went a got Visconti🎉

King of cool
My Favorite ❤❤❤ Thank you for sharing
Thrilled he had a new album...great producer. So much great history!
My favorite Bowie song, and I have no idea why. BUT, the studio version is much better.
Several years ago, Tony produced a song called "The Dragon Cries" by a band called Band-Maid. They're an all-female hard rock band from Japan, but this particular song is all in English. You should react to it! Tony thought highly enough of the band to ask to work with them 😊
You guys would love Depeche Mode “Never Let Me Down” live.
Dave Gahan is our generational Freddie Mercury. He has impressive crowd control.
Love the backstory for Jamaica
Yay! One of my favorites of Bowie's❣
Good song good reaction I enjoyed it keep it going
The video is a much better
The studio version and video of this is amazing. Tony produced so...
Always go with the studio versions first, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the SCARY MONSTERS album. You're seriously missing out.
I believe that's Reeves Gabrels on lead guitar. He and Bowie also wrote many songs together.
I have an awesome suggestion
Hold the line by Toto
Memories of the first year of MTV
Dude Jay be Bulking and Mamma be sculptin, both looking heallllltthhhyyyyyyyyyy

My favorite D.B. song is "Sound and Vision"
The guitarist on the original of this track was Robert Fripp.
FAV Song as well!!! Love it!
The bassist is one of my top 5 favorite, Ms. Gail Ann Dorsey. You should react to her solo albums
Trent & Mariqueen Reznor, Atticus Ross w/ The Alumni Band - “Fashion” (Bowie Cover) [Official Video] is a must watch👍👍👍
She does a good job on the song pressure also.
Ziggy stardust and the spiders from Mars
My fav song from my fav album. Love these guest appearances ❤❤
If yall haven't already, you need to check "The Climax Blues Band". Start with the song "Couldn't Get it Right" record version. The live version is lacking.

Listen to Everything Counts by Depeche Mode
It's a shame you're not listening to the original studio version.
You might enjoy The Crusaders & Randy Crawford - Street Life Extended album version
I am still waiting for you to talk with the B52's and their song Rock Lobster, which is a big favoeite of Jay 😂
The studio version is much better. You hear much more sound
There is a Post Malone song called " Yours" it's a daddy/daughter song that'll bring tears.
my FAVORITE bowie! :) (no, wait, it'd have to be at least #2, next to my next under-appreciated one, #1 "loving the alien"...)
and i =love= this direction you two are taking, in welcoming guests!! If the guitarist is a true Scots man, the crowd down the front will get an eyeful!
😁
I think you should have listened to the audio versions of these Bowie songs first. These live versions are a little messy.
I have recently subscribed but have watched your channel many many times and I love your reactions. Have you ever heard of Jo Stafford? She has an incredible voice and I would love to see your reaction to her singing the song “You Belong To Me”. Thank you, love you guys 👍🏻
The Warning ⚠️.❤❤❤
If you want to see a great film featuring Bowie, watch “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence”, about British prisoners held captive by the Japanese in WW2.

Maynard comes up with lyrics after the fact as well 👁
Always felt like RuPaul bit a little of the chorus for "Supermodel" from this song.
If you want to listen to some rock that would get you going, listen to The Divinyls "Hey Little Girl" absolutely great upbeat rock!
