The best remake of a song I have ever heard. Heart does this song justice and even brings a tear to Robert Plant's eye. It is incredible. Then you have Jason Bonham on drums, the son of drummer John Bonham who died many years ago when he was little. John always wore that style of hat. It is emotional to watch and gives me chills every time I watch it. Led Zeppelin are one of Heart's influences and to perform this was a huge deal for these incredibly talented women. It always cracks me up to see John Paul Jones watching this - he and Heart have worked together a lot before, he was just smiling, knowing what they're capable of doing, just watching it all unfold. Almost in a proud way...after all, this is their legacy playing out in front of them.
So the 3 'old men' were the remaining members of Led Zeppelin. The drummer is Jason Bonham, his father (deceased) was Led Zeppelin's drummer. When he died (way to young) Led Zeppelin split up as a band. Though they did reform for a one off concert with Jason on drums.

Imagine performing the guitar solo from one of the most iconic songs from one of the most iconic bands in front of the iconic guitarist who originally performed it. Dude nailed it! And Jimmy knew that he nailed it!
In 1978 the Kennedy Center presented it's first Kennedy Center Honors gala. The rainbow honor medal represents the large spectrum of performers in the arts. Dancers, singers, actors, playwrights, comedians, musicians, directors and producers have all been honored. Led Zeppelin, along with Dustin Hoffman (actor), David Letterman (late night host), and Natalia Makarova (ballerina) were honored in 2012. John Bonham's son Jason played the drums in this tribute to the band. His father wore the bowler hat that Jason had on so in tribute to John the chorus also wore bowler hats. I worked the Kennedy Center honors from 1992 to 2020 and was lucky enough to see this performance. One of the best experiences I had working in that building. You'll also see Debbie Allen, Stephen Colbert, Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Kimmel, and Yo Yo Ma in the audience.
The rainbow has nothing to do with anything except it's the ribbon that holds the medal!!!!! Also it represents all the different arts that are honored. That is the ribbon that holds all the medals when an artist is honored at the Kennedy Centre Honors! The drummer in Led Zeppelin, John Bonham has died and Jason Bonham is playing in this tribute to honor the band and his father. It was a complete surprise to the band who had asked Jason to accompany them to this event. Jason had to decline because it was a surprise for them. That's the part in the video where Robert Plant stood up and pointed at Jason because he was surprised.
Honors recipients are further celebrated with a medallion with rainbow-colored ribbons meant to symbolize “the spectrum of many skills within the performing arts," according to Ivan Chermayeff, who designed them. So there is that
You should watch the whole Led Zeppelin tribute here at the Kennedy Center Honors. Very good, Jack Black was hilarious, Lenny performed a Zeppelin song as did Dave Grohl.
Three of them are the surviving members, but all of the honorees are wearing the rainbows. David Letterman is sitting alongside also wearing the ribbon and medal.
Yes, Robert Plant is crying~he wrote the lyrics to this song~Jimmy Paige wrote the music. The kid on the drums is the son of the former LZ drummer who has died~Amazing tribute~I never thought anyone could do this song justice~but they just did~All Kennedy Center Honorees are given a medal~that is why the rainbow thing is around their necks~holding the medal~
They were receiving the Kennedy award for their music achievement . Yes they are the Led Zeppelin band. Ann was honoring this beautiful timeless song they made.
She modulates the dynamic of her voice to fit with the audio mix and more importantly the flow of the song and what's going on, on stage. Make no mistake she can and will perceive the mix and make her voice work for the circumstance.
In all of the years that the Kennedy Center Honors have been broadcast, we have been able to witness some of the most amazing performances that were delivered by top artists as tributes to those being honored. If you do a search on UA-cam for Kennedy Center Honors performances and scroll down the list, you’ll be absolutely blown by the number and variety of people who have performed over the years. A recent stand out is Adam Lambert singing “Believe“ as a tribute to Cher. Absolutely amazing performance that brought Cher to tears.
Ohhhh...love John Bonham's son Jason on the drums, love the bowler hats worn by the choir in respect to John Bonham...loved his son Jason wearing his Dad's bowler...loved the tears on Robert Plant and Jimmy Page's faces, loved the Wilson sister's performance...loved Shayne Fontayne's guitar solo performance...loved your reaction...DAMN... I am one HAPPY woman!
You nailed it !!! The closeups were all of the surviving members of Led Zeppelin. The original drummer has passed away, and his son, Jason Bonham is playing drums for this event.
The drummer was Jason Bonham. His dad was John Bonham who died when he was very young. The band always kept in contact with him. He was honoring his father by being in this tribute
This was the edited for time version from CBS, there’s another longer version that includes the other verses and also has better sound quality. The entire LZ tribute segment was hosted by Jack Black and other songs were performed by the Foo Fighters, Kid Rock and Lenny Kravitz, but Heart’s performance was outstanding. Jason Bonham is their drummer John Bonham’s son, John passed away at an early age and pretty much ended LZ, except for random performances together over the years since. Jason is Robert Plant’s godson. BTW Heart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame about six months later.
This is the Kennedy Center honors Led Zepplin. The drummer, Jason, his father was the original drummer. The 3 men are the remaining members. Heart rocks this song!
So, treat yourself and viewers by just deep diving into Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd’s catalog. You’ll be forever so pleased you did. There’s a reason they are so loved.
This is the Kennedy Center Honors. Led Zepplin, the gentlemen in the balcony, are being honored by Heart performing one of their iconic songs. The rainbow ribbons hold a medal. All honorees are given this medal.
Good observation about the mixing on Ann Wilson's voice. It's all too common for vocals to get buried in the background. Surprised you didn't know about the Kennedy Center Honors program and the rainbow ribbons but life goes on, right? It's good.
This was "The Kennedy Center Honors". Every year 4 artists (music, dance, art) get honored. They sit in the sky boxes with the current President and people go on stage and honor them. This is a huge honor for them
The 3 guys with the rainbow necklaces, which are the awards they just received are the 3 remaining members of the group Led Zeppelin, the 4th member the drummer, John Bonam, died in 1980. The drummer with Heart was the son of John. He was actually playing his father’s drum set. When Ann sang the word Heaven at the very end you notice that Jason gazed up to the heavens in a loving jester to his father.
Led Zeppelin wearing "rainbows" as a result of the Kennedy CenterB Honors' tribute to them. The white-haired "old guy" is Jimmy Page, the great guitarist that you watched playing a double neck ax. The "old guy" in the center, crying, is Robert Plant, lead singer of LZ.
I can’t imagine playing guitar to a Led Zeppelin song in front of Jimmy Page much less belting out this song in front of Robert Plant. Ann Wilson was perfect and her sister Nancy always with her.
Best live tribute, ribbons are given to Kennedy Center honorees. The top performers who had life long lasting influence over music and entertainment. This performance is heart wrenching and fantastic. Yup that’s what you are watching.
It is the members of the band. They're being honoured at The Kennedy Centre. The rainbows are the medals they received. The drummer Jason Bonham is the son of Led Zeppelin's original drummer, John Bonham, who's signature hat was a bowler. At the end, Jason looks up the the sky thinking of his father who died young.
The drummer here is the son of Led Zeppelin’s drummer, who died far too young. The man was known for his bowler hat, which is why his son is wearing the hat, and the second choir is also wearing bowler hats, all as tribute to him.
❤❤❤ Idk I just thought the rainbow ribbons ment that they were the ones getting honored. I don't know though 😂. The drummer is actually the son of the late bandmate who was their drummer that died in 1980 . From what I understand.
This was an award ceremony…that is Led Zeppelin who wrote/performed originally. This is a tribute to them! One orig member of the group John Bonham played drums, but unfortunately passed. His son is playing drums int his tribute. NOT Pink Floyd. I believe that the ribbons were awards they wore.
This is a great homage to Led Zeppelin - another great performance from the Kennedy Center Honors is Adam Lambert’s reimagining of Cher’s Believe. Great to see artists performing music of the people they admire.
The gray haired old dude is Jimmy Page.... I cannot imagine playing that guitar solo... in front of the guy that WROTE that guitar solo.... you watch his eyes... he is playing every note in his head, and his smile shows he is very well pleased..... for perspective... Jimmy Page was born in 1944, during WWII.
Heart (Ann and Nancy Wilson) were heavily inspired by Led Zeppelin in the 70's and the opportunity to pay tribute to their idols in 2012 when the surviving members of Led Zeppelin (Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones) were honored by President Obama at the Kennedy Center ... and to be joined onstage by the late drummer John Bonham's son Jason Bonham on drums was epic. The members of Led Zeppelin loved Heart's rendition of 'Stairway to Heaven'... and Ann Wilson was so happy to get Robert Plant's seal of approval.
Great reaction, you got most of it. It's really worth to watch the whole tribute inclusive the speech of Jack Black, the performance of the Foo Fighters, Kid Rock and Lenny Kravitz. (I hope I didn't forget anyone). Cheers from Berlin 👍🍀😎

Those old guys are Led Zepprlin. Imagine the balls it took to play their most famous song right in front of them. Luckily- Heart was perfect for the job as they cover LZ in their shows in addition to their own legendary material. This was a fraction of the total LZ tribute at the Kennedy Center in DC. They were receiving the Kennedy award for their music achievement . Yes they are the Led Zeppelin band. Ann was honoring this beautiful timeless song they made.
The tenor sax player with the white hair and mustache (8:06) is 'Blue' Lou Marini from The Blues Brothers movie and the Saturday Night Live band.
Yes that’s led zeppelin watching. Spectacular performance by heart
Watch the whole tribute... its fantastic
I don't know is you've ever seen Led Zepplin live doing Stairway to Heaven, but if you haven't, you should. It's amazing!
Now watch a live performance of Zeppelin doing this.
Absolutely agree 💯
I forgot to add that this was my Senior Prom theme song so I'm old as hell and know what I'm talking about,🤣
1000% AGREE......WATCH STAIRWAY FROM MSG 73
that's the one!@@susannebass5503
Better to hear the real thing 🥳
I've got earache after hearing this pompous shite 😝
Awesome tribute to Led Zeppelin. Thank you ladies from Heart, no one else could have done it better
You nailed it !!! The closeups were all of the surviving members of Led Zeppelin. The original drummer has passed away, and his son, Jason Bonham is playing drums for this event.
This orchestral version is incredibly powerful. Brought the house down
The drummer was Jason Bonham.
Heart did this song beautifully and so much emotion! My favorite!!
So, treat yourself and viewers by just deep diving into Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd’s catalog. You’ll be forever so pleased you did. There’s a reason they are so loved.
Yessss, please!!!
This is the Kennedy Center Honors. Led Zepplin, the gentlemen in the balcony, are being honored by Heart performing one of their iconic songs. The rainbow ribbons hold a medal. All honorees are given this medal.
No one else could have done Stairway justice like Annie.
This is a huge honor for them
Well....from 2017 to the 2020 awards, they didn't get to sit with the President. 3 snowflake no shows and one pandemic.
From left to right John Paul Jones, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. Jason Bonham, John's son, is on drums.
Some people don't care what other think.
I don't either. Thought it was ghastly 😂
@@deanosaur808 that is very true people are people. it could have been much worse… it wasn’t.
Thank you! Think this is a better version than the original. So glad you reacted to this one.
You are correct about Led Zeppelin being honored
Best live tribute, ribbons are given to Kennedy Center honorees. The top performers who had life long lasting influence over music and entertainment.
This performance is heart wrenching and fantastic. Yup that’s what you are watching.
It is the members of the band. They're being honoured at The Kennedy Centre. The rainbows are the medals they received. The drummer Jason Bonham is the son of Led Zeppelin's original drummer, John Bonham, who's signature hat was a bowler. At the end, Jason looks up the the sky thinking of his father who died young.
They are being honored and yes they are there watching
And wearing medals around thier necks
The drummer here is the son of Led Zeppelin’s drummer, who died far too young. The man was known for his bowler hat, which is why his son is wearing the hat, and the second choir is also wearing bowler hats, all as tribute to him.
This is one if my absolute favorites 😍 Cry every time i watch this
❤❤❤ Idk I just thought the rainbow ribbons ment that they were the ones getting honored. I don't know though 😂. The drummer is actually the son of the late bandmate who was their drummer that died in 1980 . From what I understand.
Yep that's Gonzo Bonzos kid
This was an award ceremony…that is Led Zeppelin who wrote/performed originally. This is a tribute to them! One orig member of the group John Bonham played drums, but unfortunately passed. His son is playing drums int his tribute. NOT Pink Floyd. I believe that the ribbons were awards they wore.
No you r spot on 100%. Yes that is led zeppelin. ❤❤❤
best concert I've ever been to....saw them at the Oregon State Fair and it was simply the best concert I've been to...bar none
Oh yeah this was the video that came to mind when you guys first found Heart. A dope tribute💯
Saw Heart with Jason Bonham Experience about ten years ago. Best concert I ever attended
Heart is Legendary. Hard to drown our Ann😊 incredible ❤
Legends honoring legends!
I LOVE your Soul Perspective ♥🎶✝️♥️🎶
Inspired by cheese in the 80s 😅
And I'm a fan of the 80s 😎
@@deanosaur808 It was the 70's... and cheese go great w/ burgers and nachos 😈
There were a number of artists at that tribute performing a few Led Zeppelin songs with those members watching: was an amazing Tribute
You really should watch the FULL performance by Heart. This one was edited.
Led zeppelin version though 😉
Crazy that it took Ann Wilson AND an entire choir to capture Robert
Great reaction, you got most of it.
It's really worth to watch the whole tribute inclusive the speech of Jack Black, the performance of the Foo Fighters, Kid Rock and Lenny Kravitz. (I hope I didn't forget anyone).
Cheers from Berlin 👍🍀😎
I never tire of hearing this or seeing this. Masterful!
Rainbow-colored ribbon symbolizes the range and versatility of skills in the field of performing arts.
Aloha from Hawaii ! I moved here in 86 from my hometown, Seattle Washington ! I was so fortunate to grow up right above the Seattle Center, home of the Space Needle. Anyway, I could see from my bedroom window on top of Queen Anne Hill, the line forming for the Rock Concerts & would know when to get in line ! 😂 My first concert was Billy Joel @ 12 ! Anne & Nancy Wilson are Seattle girls like me & always put on a Fabulously Rock’in show ! Saw them three times ! Dang, good times seeing so many shows ! I love your love for music too ! Aloha & Mahalo for sharing ! 😘👍✌️🤙
All Presidents attend these shows- only Trump refused to support them.
Singer Ann Wilson was 62 here! She remains a rock goddess.
The rainbows are part of the honorary medals they’re wearing.
Just enjoy!
It isn’t true that ALL presidents attend these shows. Do your homework regarding this and why President Trump didn’t attend.
That was the music industry's decision to turn on Trump!
@@findingmyrootswoolmarketmshe never attended a single Kennedy Center tribute during his entire presidency. I’ve watched them all and all other presidents attended since the inception of the Kennedy Center tributes. Do your homework!
@@TheDivayenta I stand corrected. All presidents, with the exception of President Trump, have attended since its inception, but they didn’t attend all of the events.
The ribbon colors symbolizes 'a spectrum of many skills within the performing arts.'
It is way way deeper than you could possibly imagine maybe you can imagine it just very very powerful
Jason totally pranked his dad's bros, LOL! He was supposed to be in the VIP box and told them he couldn't be there, due to a previous engagement. #Surprise!!!
Man,You could feel the emotions everywhere.
Led Zeppelin tribute. The drummer is the son of the late drummer who died and that was the end of Led Zeppelin. Robert Plant is the lead singer who was crying. The rainbow is given to the honorees.
