As a new two stroke rider, I would love for you to do a ride breakdown video or two where you talk about clutching in at the right times, when and how you are breaking and other two-stroke tips and just break down a ride like this with commentary on and how to's for people like me looking to speed up. Love the carb tip btw. Ordering one soon.
thats a great idea! Of course, the way I ride typically is very different from what might be considered "proper" or what a racer would do. I don't push the bike nearly as hard (the clutch, mainly) as it can be. But if I get the chance to this year, I'll try to record a video like that!
@@BeRAD for sure but your opinion is valid still. I think just knowing what a rider above my skill level is doing would give me ideas on how to improve. NO joke I can upgrade the carb all the way for free basically with that code. Real life saver. I have an old 93 CR250 that is almost all restored and this will fix a lot of my issues.
@@BeRAD The Lectron is legit. I ride mountain trails and on the extreme side i start one trail at 4000 feet and end at 10500. My bike would be on it's last legs up there but with the lectron it still has grunt.
As a very old school 2 stroke rider.. 1980 I got started in mx. Read your sparkplug regularly.. it tells you a lot about what's going on. Second clean air filters are key to long engine life. 3rd.. PROPERLY WARM UP THE ENGINE... even if its warm outside. If it starts running kinda snotty big brappp.. clean that motor out with RPM so ya don't foul up. And another overlooked tip is repacking exhaust silencers. If your seeing black goopy snot running out of the pipe or a tin tin hollow sound from the pipe ... repack it. Bad silencer packing loses power Starts fires Sounds real shitty Hope these tips help you. Simple stuff but important for good running 2 strokes.
1-13-23 this deserves the video-voice-over, "FAST AS FUCK BOYEEE< FAST AS FUCK!!!!" because I think he IS!!!! don't get discouraged he must know the trail VERY WELL!! and no the camera isn't sped up!!! cheers to all
Woah! That trail is like an MX track in the trees minus the jumps. Smooth ridin brother 🤟🏻 I would love to have some stuff like that near my place! I’m on a 2014 YZ250 mx bike, strictly trail ride, and is just so damn fun!!!
wow excellent riding!!! the yz is so nice to lug it in the low revs...its got sooo much torque and is supper smooth power delivery..so really like your riding style< i can relate,,,,lol.......that looks like the funnest trail ive ever seen!!!!!
I got pretty fast on that trail also, (and what a wonderful feeling of "man molding with machine" that I never got on a MX track), last rode it in 2001-2 on a 97 KX250. I have not ridden in 18 years but just picked up a 2019 YZ250 2-stroke, (which I am shortening right now), to help me get back in shape, and I plan on riding that trail, (I am sure it is "The Little O"), a lot. I just want to get some speed back with out too much pain. :) Doug in Freesoil MI.
Hey Brad, I recently sold my Husqvarna 701 Supermoto and I’m thinking of getting into enduro riding. I love watching your fast trail riding and I really like the yz 250. Have you changed anything on your yz 250’s to adapt to enduro riding and if so what ? Thanks 🙏🏼
Brad McJarrow the bike in this video is all stock except for an 18” rear wheel from my wr I put on. My yz250x is stock as well besides a Lectron carb which is great for enduro
You just crushed that orange bike! Im on a 2000, I absolutely love mine as well! This is a killer vid! I was laughing when that guy on his orange million dollar moron bike let you go first!!! LOL! can you say "smoked!" The YZ rules!!! it almost doesn't matter the year!
I thought you had a YZ250X? How would you compare your bike with Megs? Seems like yours is more twitchy, powerful, and spirited, and hers seems more grunty and torquey. Love to hear a comparison since I have a YZ250 (non-X) and am thinking about getting a Beta Xtrainer 300.
raizlc I do have a yz250x! And this one now ;). You’re spot on about Megs bike and mine. I just posted a tx300 review video that should answer a lot of your questions!
Awesome video man! Quick question. I have the exact same model bike as you and was wondering if its normal for my clutch lever to be loose bout an inch until i pull it in? It just flops around an inch until i pull it in. That normal?
11oz or 13oz flywheel weight Fresh clutch Lectron carb Fresh piston n rings.. (Yamaha or vertex) wiesco suck Protaper evo fat bars These are things I'd think about. Carb not so much but tires are always a good thing to. Start with fresh top end on any used 2 stroke you ever buy. Even if the seller says its fresh. I've seen friends buy some junk over the 39 years I been riding and racing. Pistons are cheap 150 bucks and you see the insides so ya know what's up.. look for old piston chunks in the base with a flashlight ... yup I've seen that. Lol
I bet not much at all. You just work up to that speed and don't really take any chances. The biggest risk on that trail is people go both ways on it, and you can have head on collisions. That is rare too, but I like that trail better when there are no leaves on the trees, so we can see better.
I haven't really this year because I've barely been able to ride and everything is always very spontaneous. The few times I have posted on IG, no one shows up or a I just get bombarded with questions from people who can't read. haha
These are quadtard trails too, sometimes you even come across a douche or two on an sxs. You get used watching for flashes through the trees eventually.
Bro people with 2 strokes like this are like What is 2nd 3rd 4th I use 1st 5th and 6th (if there is a 6th) i dont own a 2 stroke but this is my dream 2 stroke
It's a 40 mile closed loop trail in Michigan USA, not a race track. Just don't look at the trees. Keep your attention on the trail. :) I have ridden this trail, (at that speed) many times. He is cooking pretty good. Those guards around his hands are backed with an aluminum bar and do a good job of bouncing off the edges of trees. There are slower trails too, with the trees much closer together, but I like this trail better.

hell yeah dude just watch them trees they hurt
For real !!
Fucking hell
Messed up way to learn physics
Quote of the day.
You can say that again
If all trails were like this I think the YZ250 would be the absolute best trail bike ever!
Clipping right along there Brad, nice work!
Agreed.... unfortunately, sometimes you have to lug the bike and turn. This is where I have trouble with my YZ. I kill it all the time.
raizlc gotta use more clutch!!!
Nice rip. I love the fact that you spend more time and money on riding than upgrades and wrenching
that was intense
He’s ridden these trails so many times, fun to watch.
Sweet video!! I am new to 2 strokes and I'm loving the wicked powerband on my 05 yz250. It's a completely different animal than my previous 4 strokes!
Always get this Star Wars speeder bikes vibe with these vids :D
WOW hearing those trees pass you is insane! The adrenaline is high for sure 😂 nice one mate👍
do a quick 3 minute review of this bike versus the other 250 you have.
Pretty please daddy Brad?
Man I can't wait to rebuild my yz and get back on the trails. I wish I had the opportunity to explore as many places as you do! Keep shredding bro 🤙
Quincy Coyle hell yeah. Thanks man!!
I just got an 03, can’t wait to do this with it lol

Awesome pace bro! Had my heart beating a little lol. Definitely makes me want to take my yz to Michigan!

Going pick up a 2002 yz250 tomorrow. It’s going to be my first dirt bike.
Picking up an 02 yz 250 on thursday!, last bike was an 83 kdx200
I was just waiting for him to clip one of those trees going that fast around corners
was it just me that was sat here dodging the trees while watching?
A stop sign was the last thing I expected to see in the video.
I miss so much Supermoto shenaningans
wow excellent riding!!! the yz is so nice to lug it in the low revs...its got sooo much torque and is supper smooth power delivery..so really like your riding style< i can relate,,,,lol.......that looks like the funnest trail ive ever seen!!!!!
literally a motorcycle genius :-)
Ahhhh the force is strong with this one!!
This in Leota?!
That was some talented trail riding for sure 👍💪💪
I always thought you had a newer YZ250X... Nice to see your still ripping on the old steel frame.
It's a different bike
Imagine a world where it's possible to own multiple bikes! hahaha. Yes I still have the 250x. Picked this up recently for a second. I LOVE IT!
What are the main differences between the 2?
@@Jajeweet the frames, transmission and suspension
@@TriMacked well I know that, I more so meant the difference in how it feels when riding them.

Doug in Freesoil MI.
Looks like "The Little O" trail in Baldwin Michigan. I have not been on that tail in almost 2 decades, but I will be on it in the summer of 2001. :)
Love that 2 stock sound
How far away is this bike compared to the new Yz250x? Great riding!
Any chance this is the Huron national forest? Looks so similar to the trails I ride near the west branch/east tawas area
It’s Leota
Now that's riding!! 👍
Remember if you ride like lightning your gonna crash like thunder.
What mods does your ideal 2smoker trail bike have?
Jourdon Gulick probably lectron carb
Jourdon Gulick hand guards, fresh tires, and a Lectron carb!!

Those trails look sick!
What pipe are u runnin? It seems like u have good bottom/mid very responsive or you are realy good with the clutch.
Stock pipe! 250 2 strokes have a fair bit of low end torque when tuned properly. But yes, it's possible that my clutch work is alright too ;) haha
@@BeRAD wdym clutch work?
Sweet video man

Blake sounds like you just need to adjust your cable. Lengthen it by unscrewing the threads a bit up near the lever end of the cable housing
@@BeRAD I figured it out. Thanks for the reply and ride on!
Is this in Mio Michigan! looks a lot like were we ride?
do u remember what sproket side u use on this video ? 13 or 14 on front ?
That was bad ass!!🤘
Omg I gotta get a dirt bike! This is it I’m done with street Nice
I would be dead......lad can ride.
Ya never know. Ride that trail every other weekend for 2 years, and you might be leading him. :)
Have you tried the m-20 trail's
Cant believe that you have finished the video without hiting a tree
What gearing on sprockets are you running?
What set up do you use for your camera?
Is this trail in the UP?
1.5 playback speed! That shit is intense
I’m thinking about doing a budget build on a YZ250 for a second bike what do you recommend for the riding you do
11oz or 13oz flywheel weight
Fresh clutch
Lectron carb
Fresh piston n rings.. (Yamaha or vertex) wiesco suck
Protaper evo fat bars

How good is the iron frame compared to the aluminum ?
Michele16 it’s steel, not iron.
i love my 02
its great on trails
Damn you’re fast
Picked up a 04
Scary fast for me
Need a 125 instead honestly
If your ever in the Clare county are would be sweet to meet and ride
The smart ass on the KTM says “after you” and then gets smoked by the YZ… 😂 there will never be a substitute for the infamous YZ 250!
What are your gearing front and rear? Sounds real crisp.
How many times have you wrecked doing this
