This map, "Abaddon's Clutch" is inspired and modelled after the popular Supreme Commander:FAF map "Seton's Clutch". This map is basically a shrunken carbon copy of it. Even the point placements are similar to the mass points of Setons. Of course, this narrow isthmus flanked by water works better in SupCom, since that game has plenty of dedicated naval and aerial units.
The Blue Horrors of Tzeentch look kinda creepy in this game. I got used to Total War Warhammer models and there they look more goofy, small, chubby, blue balls.
@@postpwnmalone Nothing wrong if you like it. If we were all the same, it would be boring world. But as you can probably tell iam 40K fan, fantasy isnt my cup of tea and the game itself is kinda not brutal enough. If i say Warhammer, i usualy dont imagine goofy-silly things. Sure, you have Orks or even the blue horrors, some Nurgle units are kinda goofy, but its usualy different kinda goofy or silly. There is something disgusting or unsettling about them. Those in the game are just silly. Hope you get my point. Iam not here to bash the models or your preference. I just explained my own.
30:50 what happened to the tau base? Their green dogs just randomly fell off the mini map and their population caps fell instantly. Did they get nuked?
Too bad there was so much deep striking in the back just running wild through the base with the unclean ones grey knights. What do you do about it since static defenses are so weak? But at least we got to see plenty of big units running about. Good game, glad to see Seton's Clutch getting some cross-universe love
If they have units in your base, maybe use yours to defend rather than a few turrets. Otherwise if turrets will simply defeat the army then why ever make one. Just creep turrets until you get a titan or something.
I used to play DoW:Apocalypse against a large group of friends on a routine basis. Hundreds of matches. One thing we all learned as time went on, is that a major weakness of the mods design is that deep striking is hugely overpowered, and basically THE way to win, if you know what you're doing and have the right faction for it. Because units in the game are generally so tanky, there's a point where building toughness simply can't keep up, and almost any number of defenders aren't able to stop the attackers in time before serious damage is done. One of the Imperial Guard baneblades has a main cannon that bypasses the HQ damage resistance type, and is powerful enough that if you deep strike 4 of them will 2 shot kill a max level HQ of virtually any faction. The Chaos Marine terminators are also nightmarishly durable for their cost, and can be given weapons effective against regular structures, making them incredibly good at removing economy and production buildings. It was ultimately one of the things that caused us to stop doing our regular games against each other, since we all got a bit tired of games that devolved into seeing who could bypass the normal fighting and just destroy the opponents base before the other could. We tried to think of house rules against doing it, but it's kind of hard to exclude such a core feature of the game without the rules being too convoluted. (Also that if you can't deepstrike, then Orks just always won instead)
@@UnknownSquid Well it's nice to actually have someone who invested some time into PVP commenting on this. I've been the main balance and design developer for UA for 4 years now. We have done a great deal to counteract the power of deepstrikes and alot of can come down to the choice of map. This map is called Abaddon's Clutch it's an upscaled version of a map called Seton's Clutch. Both designed after the SCFAF map. It's very hard to not deepstrike on a map like this and very often people will attempt this to shutdown nukes or stop titans. It's alot harder to deepstrike earlier than tier 2 or 3 which is more delayed due to increased tech up times. A replay of another 4v4 in UA has been submitted and shows a 4v4 game on oasis of shar which I think represents a more standard game these days. There are still aircraft raids and harassment to kill generators. But we done work around this where generators all stacked will blow up each other but we have also made aircraft more squishy and any well prepared player with for example a missile turret or two or infantry with rockets will be able to handle a reasonable amount of aircraft for this timeframe ingame.
@@gooseman4861 Oh, well that's an unexpected coincidence then, to end up venting about this to you of all people. xD If you took that role about 4 years ago, then that would have been right around the time my group stopped holding our routine DoW nights. Does make me curious what's changed since then. I was active for a little while in the balance discussions on the discord, shortly before that time, but it kind of felt like slapping at the ocean with a fly swatter. Wasn't really accomplishing much, and there was this odd contingent of jaded older regulars who more or less mocked the mere concept of wanting/expecting any degree of balance in the mod. I hope your own official efforts have been going better. I can respect how much of a crazy challenge it is to balance a game as incredibly asymmetric as DoW.
Its all fun and games untill game engine no longer can handle the mods and game turns in to a slideshow, I dont understand why nobody is remaking Warhammer in Unreal Engine 5

Seton is truly one of the best rts map
Oh that's really fun :) SC is a series I missed playing growing up.
I spend so much time on this map (in both DoW and SupComFA) ! The narrow mid give me a "Thermopyles" vibe...
Man This map is famous in every popular RTS
Never seen so many titans in one match. Great teamwork
Absolutely lost it at "Blue gorillas in the mist", now thats a certified hood classic :D Subbed!
24:53 “they just don’t die at all, except for now when they’re dying” 😂 too funny. Thanks for the great content!
Hy i searched long for UA content. Thanks for this
22:18 that's a quote worthy of a t-shirt
Holy this Map came from another really great rts game

How is this possible the game didn't crash for any of these players?
This likely was asked before many times.. What is difference in current version of UA from Crucible mod?
For me and my friends, the game would have crashed after 25 minutes at the latest, when I see what's happening with them on the battlefield
