@@christosv.2224 I married and converted to greek orthodox. With the Scottish blood in me I'm starting to figure out why I'm naturally drawn to greek culture and music.
This is how I knew the song as I grew up in Scotland. It was written as a dirge (a lament for the dead), not as a battle cry that it seems to be now. Roy Williamson was said to have "educated fingers". Seeing the Corries in concert was a magical evening. Roy and Ronnie sat at the front of the stage and played, but behind them there was a row of about sixteen chairs each carrying a different instrument, wind, string, and drum, required for their repertoire. Some string instruments were made specially for them. To see a "guitar-style" instrument with three or four sets of strings could be rather a haunting sound.
Love the Greeland flag! 👍 If Scotland and Greece ever play in a World Cup against each other, I want fans of both sides waving that flag whilst playing the bagpipes and bouzouki! 😉
If you look the feroa island have the name of mykines the greek sivilazatio of argolida( greek city) of 1.600 bc .so yes the ancient greeks have go to all around the world
Watch Atlanean Garden here on UA-cam. He’s a anthropologist (with an actual degree, not a conspiracy theorist like most) and he touches these kind of topics, and shows maps of possible migration. Look it up
There is a theory that the Scots are actually descendants from an ancient Egyptian princess and an *Greek prince. * The name of the princess was supposedly “Scotta”. They escaped a coup and traveled all across the northern part of Africa, through Spain and into the isles. That’s why the Spanish “Galicia” has different culture than the rest of Spain. And surprisingly, they play the bagpipes (or a form of it). And guess what, that princess is said to have red hair and blue eyes. Of course it’s only a theory. It may or may not be like that, but it sure is a nice story. Watch atlanean garden here on UA-cam. He is a anthropologist and talks about this topic
No way scotts are related to greeks genetically, they are celts 10000%, but greeks were in scotland thousands years ago traveling, sharing culture and trading with them. Mighty hercules had a campaign in britain in search of new livestock, crops, gems etc though he found some celtic tribes and he manage to help them fight some pict clans of scotland.
Us Scots love our Greek friends, we have a lot in common.
