I bet his own attorney is just wiggling in the seat. Trying to figure out how to shut this dude up. Here’s what I guarantee happened without seeing any more of the video…. His chick partner was in training with him, and he was so eager to show her what his dog could do that they created this whole scenario and basically gaslit the whole situation so that’s why they overreacted when the guy didn’t pull over quite as soon as they thought he should, and that’s why they turned it into a felony stop so they could pull their guns because he wanted to impress her (he is her trainer )and was eager to show this woman what his dog could do ..now I don’t know anything else about the story I guarantee you that was in that the mind of that cop I guarantee it. As a German Shepherd owner with a dog raised in a professional kennel of dogs intended for the police I can attest the dogs ARE conditioned to a certain extend before the police receive them. As puppies they pipe in sounds to the kennel to familiarize the dogs to certain sounds like sirens, babies crying, gun shots, police radios etc. I had a cop come to my house once and my dog immediately went right up to him and sat directly in front of him waiting for a command, I was quite shocked when this happened until I found out about his prior training. I got my dog when he was 4 months old so they are well aware of a lot of things by time they reach the K9 unit. The fact this cop made it sound like the dog was fresh from the womb so to speak is incorrect.

Doesn't matter where a puppy comes from. Adults that get puppies or dogs from ANYWHERE should expose them to different sounds and lots of people. It's called ADULTING, so that dogs don't react in fear from unexpected noices or being approached by non-threatening people. Your dog did NOT RECOGNIZE THE COP AND WAITED ON A COMMAND. You percieved the wrong thing from that behavior. Most likely because cops project a level of forwardness/agression however suttle, your dog REACTED to that, and sat in front of that cop to keep him from moving forward towards his family. His behaviour had absolutely NOTHING to do with "waiting for a command". Learn your dog..SMH - I have had and currently have several GSD's + other dogs.

It's much more than two weeks training..... That's the initial academy. Then they go through 3 phases of on the job training where they are with a training officer to watch them.... Get comfortable with things.. And show they know what to do... Then they take over for a while and during that time a training officer is in the passenger seat to make sure they are doing it by themselves correctly. This takes much more than two weeks.
