With Topic, have the Utah Jazz not learned their lesson? We have had three very similar lessons: 1. Avoid drafting PGs with knee injuries (Raul Lopez) 2. Avoid being enticed by size (not length in this case) (Dante Exum) 3. Avoid PGs with a flat shot (Ricky Rubio) I don't want to draft a player that we find out is a dud three years later for the exact same reasons.
I would go with players in this order: 1. Devin Carter 2. Salaun 3. Dillingham 4. Holland 5. Trade down a bit for Edey 6. Topic Dillingham is being severely underrated lately. I get it, he's a small guard like Conley and Lowry. But he's an offensive wizard.
You go with Salaun and out of those players right now, I don’t think it’s close - he has FAR the highest upside/bust potential. Gotta roll them dice on Tidjane if you’re not gonna trade up for Castle (or do anything else).
Per synergy data going back as far as I can Catch and shoot 3's: Topic: 36%, 2.1 attempts per game Salaun: 33.8%, 3.3 attempts per game Pull up 3's: Topic: 30.8%, 2.3 attempts per game Salaun: 21%, 1 attempt per game As a whole: Topic: 33.3%, 4.5 fga, 52/156, 35 gp Salaun: 31%, 4.3 fga, 72/232, 54 gp
Im becoming more and more a Carter fan. Hes 6'3", but has a 6'9" wingspan and is a total dawg on defense, which Jazz dont have. I mean, an average size pg who averages almost 9 rebounds a game? Thats insane
Agreed. While I’d take Salaun then Carter. But Carter feels like an excellent choice next to Key. Both players can be on or off ball. Both can do a little of everything. And both could fire each other up.
Topic, Salaun, Holland (in that order) are my favorites for the Jazz at 10. I like Carter too, but I feel like we need to go for someone with more upside.
If im Utah i'd call The Lakers and see what would it take to get their 17th pick. Trade the 29th and 32nd pick plus Kessler since they're looking for a big to pair with AD. Lakers can add next years 2nd round pick if that helps. Now Utah has the 10th pick and 17th pick. Utah comes outta the draft with both of Topic/Carter/Holland/Salune even Collier Chances are
I hope the Jazz trade picks 29, 32, & a player to move up for a second pick between 8-12 and the Jazz end up with a combo of either Carter/Topic & Williams/Salaun.
As for a rotational player. And time to grow. I would draft TJ if he's there. This is only one year. What's important to me is what is there long term plan for the team. I want to be alive to enjoy a championship. Years of playoff is not there for me.
David Locke: I would NEVER draft ANYONE in the lottery under 6’4” (even PG) at this point. Also David Locke: I would draft Reed Sheppard at 6’1.5” in the top 3 if we could Also David Locke: I would draft Jared McCain at 6’2” in the top 10 as we can Hmmm some inconsistency with your evaluation structure here David. What happened?
Salaun is the choice, no question, at worst he is a michael porter, at best Yannis. Salaun plays on top of the basket he is coming down when he throws the ball down, the only other player in the draft that does that is SAR. I feel the Jazz will regret not taking him, but I also feel he will be gone by 10, they will need to trade up to get him. Salaun is fast, great anticipation and great work ethic. Locke, you must watch SALAUN before tomorrow. We cannont miss him. I like Carter, but he can be duplicated and the Jazz alread;y have players like him on their roster.
Salaun is like choosing Taylor Hendricks last year. His physical tools at 6’9” 7’1” and shooting ability are hard to pass up. I will support the Jazz if they choose him even though I have Ron Holland and Cody Williams higher.
Carter or topic. Carter seems like the George Hill of the draft and topic the Ricky Rubio. If topic could should he amazing but can you really teach someone to shoot better at this point?
Danny has drop the ball. He should be on the hot seat or fired. I think he has been going out of his way to hurt this franchise. Getting a load of draft picks means nothing if they are not top three picks or if you have a great player to build around it okay to have those lower picks. The problem is the Jazz have nothing like that because he got rid of our top players.

Topic does not seem very athletic or quick enough to me.
Yeah, Nikola isn't gonna be called Hot Topic anytime soon
I would go with players in this order:
1. Devin Carter
2. Salaun
3. Dillingham
4. Holland
5. Trade down a bit for Edey
6. Topic

If TJ is an option we run to the podium
When you have a modest floor for these players, go for the ceiling (TS)
Well, you heard it here. A PG like two Boston guards. We are getting Devin Carter. We will revisit this after draft night.
Get Tidjane Salune if he is available, body is very important in the playoff now!

let’s get Tidjuane Salaune baby
Topic, Salaun, Holland (in that order) are my favorites for the Jazz at 10. I like Carter too, but I feel like we need to go for someone with more upside.
Where do y’all think Gabriele Procida would go in this draft? The player we picked up in the fontecchio trade.
Salaun, Carter, Holland and Topic in that order. Very close between Carter and Salaun for me.
Same boat tugboat 😂
Similar: Salaun, Carter, Topic, Then holland

Utah comes outta the draft with both of Topic/Carter/Holland/Salune even Collier
Chances are
Another option to trade up to in the mid first round would be Tristan Da Silva from Colorado. Well rounded player
Topic, Topic, Topic!!!
I hope the Jazz trade picks 29, 32, & a player to move up for a second pick between 8-12 and the Jazz end up with a combo of either Carter/Topic & Williams/Salaun.
29 and 32 are not getting you 8-12😂 try 25-20
"🤞 fingers crossed 🤞Tidjuan Salaun but I can't imagine him being at #10
Did you see the Ringers latest mock? Risacher at 8 and Sarr at 7. Clingan 2 and Castle 1

Salaun, Carrington, Topic, Carter with pick 10 (no on Holland). Later scheierman, Tyson or Diadiet (unsure on spelling).
David Locke: I would NEVER draft ANYONE in the lottery under 6’4” (even PG) at this point.

Out of those players mentioned Devon Carter would be my choice he is an absolute DOG on D and hit a good clip from 3 so you can’t go wrong with that!
Devin Carter
I can't see Danny trading our guards because they were undersized and then replacing them with two new undersized guards.
Not going to happen.
Need to trade up and get the guy they really need. Resacher, Castle, Williams in that order.
If the Jazz stay at 10 Salaune But idealy I think you would try and trade up to get a Cody Williams if it does not cost too much.
You have to take Salaun if he’s available
I have been looking at Jared McCain for awhile. Ainge likes length so he may want T.J.
Carter or topic. Carter seems like the George Hill of the draft and topic the Ricky Rubio. If topic could should he amazing but can you really teach someone to shoot better at this point?
Carter.... or Topic... TRADE UP FOR CASTLE!
Holland
Tidjuane salaune
Salune, Carter........and Tyler Kolek,
Salaun probably. Tempted by Castle.
Salaun or Carter. Cody Willliams if he's there
Tidjane but I think he will be gone at 10
Carter or Salune
TJ
Salaun
Topic not athletic enough imo.
