It all comes back to money. Marvel does it with race-swapping established comic book characters. And I say this as a comic book fan, instead of changing some white charcater to a black one, why not actually do some research and bring in black characters THAT ARE THERE. Of course it's easier and more profitable to not do it as I said above, but man there are so many cool characters of all backgrounds in comics that for them to just race/gender change characters seems like a lazy cashgrab.
