Wow, you really did your homework for this race Kym! It is absolutely impressive that so much planning has had to go into this. The logistics are mind-boggling! Thank you and enjoy the race!
I'm sure that everything organization-wise will be spectacular, over-the-top American style, great! Looking forward to see how the actual racing will pan out given the track conditions, including the air temperature, and no special tyre compounds. For the Celsius people: 10 degrees Celsius at results in 1 degrees Celsius windchill at 300km/h; 5 degrees Celsius results in -5 degrees Celsius at 300km/h. Not very comfortable to drive in an ordinary race suit and gloves. It will be the complete opposite to Qatar qua conditions.
Hi Kym! Love the channel. You got me hooked into F1 back in June when I attended my very first race in Barcelona. Since then, you’ve helped me learn more about the sport and the ongoings and just enjoy the way you present information. Went to Austin a couple weeks ago and will be in Vegas filming content. Hope to run into you and say Hello! 🏎️👍🏾
Im so excited for it, the race itself will be something else too track seems tight but a lot of oppertunities to overtake on the long strights, leading to some epic battles
Kym, huge kudos to you for the build-up of content you have published in the run-up to this hugely anticipated F1 Grand Prix. No doubt, its been a pain in the neck for residents and visitors to Las Vegas for this first race but Knob Jockeys aside 😆I hope it will be an amazing event and you have a fantastic weekend and as always your Irish fans will eagerly await your video's after the race.
Appreciate the update Kym. We are all interested in your POV after the race. Let’s hope it all runs smoothly and the incidents are all on track. Spectacle it shall be!
Thank you for your service, Sir. I live in Reno, NV. Just a road-trip away but it's completely unaffordable for me this year. Hopefully I'll see you there next year!
Thanks for the update excited to attend my first GP. I too saw all these youtubers saying prices dropping but when I looked didn't see anything cheaper.
Thanks for a great summary! Am I glad I don't have to visit the race! I get a panic attack just thinking about the craziness. My first and only race was the last one in Zandvoort in the 80's, that was crazy enough! But I'm sure the spectacle will be something else, and great on TV. Good luck and enjoy! Looking forward to your report from behind the scenes after the race!
We booked a 2 queen bed room at Park MGM for around $200/night incl resort fees from Thurs-Sun. That's basically regular price! Also, we saw grandstand seats in the Sphere Zone for $200ish for Fri Quali. Cheaper on East Harmon if you don't mind that part of the track. Not bad at all.
Hello Kym, I am a brand new subscriber though I have seen a few of your video's in the past. My name is Kim, I reside about 75 northeast of Las Vegas in Mesquite, Nv. Just wanted you to know sir that your honesty plus your knowledge of F1 is most refreshing and greatly appreciated. There has been any number of video's posted on You Tube over the past month or so that are so misinforming it's crazy. I guess honesty is secondary when it come to getting views on You Tube and that's a shame. Kym, thanks again sir, your efforts are truly appreciated!
Great video, first I have seen of yours and really enjoyed it. As for the race I am less than thrilled about it. Certainly a race being done more for the money and pomp, not for the racing and fans. I will enjoy it on my couch about 20 minutes from the strip.
Yesterday, I was watching a live-stream of the Fremont Street Experience and I thought I saw you there... camera in hand and a t-shirt that said "Charlotte". I hope you made it down there as it can be a spectacle. The reversing video is a nice touch which makes everyone look twice. 👍 I did a reverse portion of a video at the spot behind you with the camera facing towards the Mirage. Great minds as they say.
Just ask the teams to remove the plank under the car for the gaudy lights??? The track will be lit bright enough that the underflow lights would likely not be noticeable...
To be completely honest, F1 can show as many celebrities as they like, but from the Formation lap to the chequered flag, I want coverage to be on the motor race. I don't want to see a crowd shot or a celebrity faking an interest in F1. As a Brit, my coverage is by Sky Sports, which has the slogan 'It's only live once', and I want to see this spectacle and every overtake LIVE.
I also like to see the pre-race grid and the iconic "grid walk" by people like Martin Brundle and Will Buxton, but this time, unfortunately, we're going to have to put up with more celebs than usual that will choke up the grid and be interviewed.
I was just in Vegas 2 days ago, and it was a shit show getting around so I can only imagine what this weekend will be like. All I’ve been hearing online and in the media is how excited people in Vegas are for the race…I didn’t meet a SINGLE cab driver, Uber driver, or casino dealer that is looking forward too it, in fact just about everyone is hoping that it is a shit show, so that maybe they’ll cut the contract short in a couple years
I don't think this is going to last very long. Unlike most cities, Las Vegas is much busier on weekends. F1 is scaring away visitors at the same rate it's bringing them in. The hotel rates prove it. The locals will demand an end to the contract if they're not making any more money than they would on a typical weekend. The hassle simply isn't worth it.
@@indianapatsfan I don't think they care if the local demand anything considering the money that will come into the city. That being said it all depends on that money.
you can buy a ticket for the Paris viewing deck on for about 350 dollars for the race.. havent seen anyone mention it. still expensive but much cheaper than a proper ticket
Sadly the county signed a 10 year deal already to have the race the Saturday before Thanksgiving for the next 10 years, so it won't be changing despite the fact that it should indeed move up the calendar.
Just returned from Vegas (attended the Concours at the Wynn - beautiful cars). What's your take on Verstappen's comments saying it won't be a great race but just a show? Is it going to be like Monaco where passing is challenging (and qualifying is critical)?
That's normal for Verstappen nowadays...I don't think he's ever been into promoting the traveling circus heavily, and now that he may be thinking he's on the backside of his career (up to debate or more information from him) he seems to always be thinking against the grain a little bit....
Max has always disliked street circuits, partly for the restrictive racing and also partly because street circuits by nature prioritize the glitz and glamour of the city hosting it…that’s literally WHY the city hosts it…so Max being the racer he is doesn’t appreciate the showman he is sometimes required to be a part of. Whereas other drivers like Lewis absolutely are in their element, sometimes seeming to view the racing only as a steppingstone to being a part of the glamour. Other drivers fall somewhere in between with Fernando being a lot like Max. I really do not know what qualities Lewis and Max share outside of their chromosomes 😅 (and that’s why a rematch of 2021 would be so dam mouth watering if Merc can get their sht together)
Great content as usual. Looks like it will be great. I know they drive on the other side of the road. But it surprised me they also drive backwards lol. 11:24 is gold.
at 10:15 there was a glitch in your matrix, that's when cars were travelling in reverse and pedestrians were walking backwards. But thanks for the update. Always look forward to your videos.

I’m also not looking forward to all of the cringe they push on these American races such as driver introductions and endless focusing on celebrities. I hope I’m wrong and this is a great event.
Hi Kym, I so enjoy your travel videos in and out of the different F1 races. Outside of travel costs, how much does it cost or what's required for journalist to get their badging and entry for each race? You've also mentioned your gotten special access at some of the races to take pictures in certain spots, how does that work or can you specify the type of access?
It’s going to be COLD at midnight in the desert and it’s got a super long straight (tires cool down) right into a super slow corner. Look for heavy lockups there!
It was pretty amazing how all of those cars drove backwards at the 10:20 mark. Personally I would prefer the race to be at a less glitzy place, one that doesn't detract from the race, like Watkins Glen. Although it would take a boat load of improvements to host F1 being in the northeast would attract more race real fans as opposed to tourists.

Although I am against the LVGP taking place due to obvious reasons (eg. money etc), it's great that you're showing us behind the scenes and the construction and generally organising the race in your videos. I'm remaining sceptical as of now though
10:15 I thought that car was backup up at first. lol
