I was there last week for my nephew’s wedding staying at Carriage House on E. Harmon RIGHT before turn 17. I could see the Paddock building from my window. Today is Oct 8th and honestly Las Vegas has a lot of work to do to finish all this. They did keep me up all night working construction the entire time I was there. Most residents I spoke to are not thrilled with a car race they know nothing about causing traffic and daily road closures, but….I’m an F1 fan and I think this is going to look amazing. I stood in my window every night watching them work. Hopefully the race will be just as exciting as the view.
Couple of things.... The sun sets way earlier than 730 at that time of the year. Without looking I would say 530 to 600. It will be cold when this racing goes off. Think high 40s to mid 50s by the end of the sessions and race. Also, that time of the year can be windy. If the wind is coming off the Bellagio lake, it will be brutal for the high end guests. People paying thousands of dollars to stay at dumps or lower end resorts like Flamingo, Harrahs, Horseshoe, Mirage, Treasure Island, etc are going to be very disappointed and pissed. I was just in Las Vegas this week and many news reports about not thinking this event out properly and many regrets.

Great info on the Vegas F1 GP. I was in Las Vegas the last week of May. Traffic was awful due to the paving shutting down lanes on the boulevard. Lyft drivers were not happy but they had found interesting short cuts on the back roads and lanes to get to and from my hotel. I stayed at Paris. Not to sound like an old man yelling at a cloud but at some point we might lose the essence of what makes F1 great. I went to my first Grand Prix in Detroit in 1982 and have been to around 35 including Spa, Budapest, Melbourne, Montreal and every USGP in Detroit, Indy and Austin. It’s a good thing the F1 was pushing its green environmental initiatives this weekend, clearly offsets their environmental impact of the Las Vegas race..
There's a great series called "Abandoned" by bright Sun Films on YT , have a feeling that in 2024 there will be a wonderful documentary about how this track never got used after that utter failure of F1 2023. LOL
I remain sceptical but am happy to see if the LV GP will actually be good. BUT... I think 3 races in the US is too much. In a pinch I could live with 2, for example: COTA permanent and LV/Miami alternating. But 3 races in a single country is dumb, regardless which country it is.
I don't think you understand how big the US is. It is about 20hr drive between each race location. 40hr drive between Miami and Las Vegas. The longest drive between European races is between Barcelona and Hungary which is about 19hrs. You have to look at land mass and population. The US is almost the same size as all of Europe. Europe has 8 races in total. So for as popular as F1 is getting in the US having 3 races is not unreasonable at all.
@@Nathan7478 The land is one thing. But take into consideration that Europe has 750 million people while US only has 330 million. Plus F1 is Europe's n1 motorsport while in US it sits in 3rd place behind Nascar and Indycar. All that being said, there are 8 races in Europe and 3 in US. I would say all things considering, it is pretty much even for the demographic :)
@@KenaiTobinI think for hardcore F1 fans COTA does remain the main US race. But Miami and Vegas are designed for another purpose. I live in Vegas and would much rather go see the race at COTA than the one happening 20min from my house.
Well, this race has been rumored and suggested for more than a decade. Bernie definitely wanted to race here. But he was difficult. Now that F1 is American - things moved more swiftly.
I think if they're willing to make it FIA approved, they should definitely put the glowing LEDs on the cars like in the demo. I don't care if it's childish, it would make it memorable.

@@KymIllman thank you.
It’s a good thing the F1 was pushing its green environmental initiatives this weekend, clearly offsets their environmental impact of the Las Vegas race..
I'm curious what cars the Alfa drivers bring to the track. Could it be the new limited 33 Stradale?
Will the paddock be used for other events throughout the year or just for F1?
There's a great series called "Abandoned" by bright Sun Films on YT , have a feeling that in 2024 there will be a wonderful documentary about how this track never got used after that utter failure of F1 2023. LOL
Year-round retail and a museum.
THANKS Kym 👍👍🏁
Sunset in Las Vegas on November 18 will be about 4:30 PM PST.
Correct
Can’t wait to see your pics from this event.
Keen to see them myself
Hey Kym, I love your shirt....where can I buy one?
The Sunday collective
Starting line in a turn ... I remember that very clearly. For those of you who started watching F1 laet - Spa Francorschamps used to have that.
Spa is classic, this is just the dollar!
Silverstone too I think
But, where did you get that shirt?!
Sunset in Las Vegas , Nov 19 is 4:30 pm not 7
Good catch!
Thumbs up for using the word razamataz
I know I shall be tuning in right at the start of the qualifying and race sessions to avoid all the second hand embarrassment.
I’ll keep you up-to-date about all that via Instagram on my post-race video
COTA should have remained the main us race because it’s an actual purpose built permanent track
@@byfo1991 that was my point. For the land mass and population 3 races is fair. One east coast, one central, one west coast.
@@KenaiTobinI think for hardcore F1 fans COTA does remain the main US race. But Miami and Vegas are designed for another purpose. I live in Vegas and would much rather go see the race at COTA than the one happening 20min from my house.
According to the official f1 website the race is going to be in Sunday and not like you said in Saturday.
Not sure where you’re seeing that. It’s definitely Saturday at 10pm local time.
Only for the high rollers.
In summary, they made Vegas race like Singapore night race. Zones, concerts, and electrifying race environment
I don’t want to spoil the outcome, but you know Max will win
Looks amazing
Hotel room facing race track is going to have amazing views
With those prices I'll only ever get to watch a race on TV
i read lot of negative review but i actually love fast tracks with not too many corners. can't wait for this event!
You're going to have a blast!
I hope so
I love the t-shirt. Could share the link to buy
It’s produced by a company called the Sunday collective
@@KymIllman thank you
By the way, I went to your webside and look out the books, I'm thinking in order Sergio Perez. Do you have one for Monaco 2022? Checo's win of course !!!
Why do they call the first left-right chicane 4 corners???? Its 2.
I need to know where that shirt is from!!! Love it!

Have a race in Vegas to help promote F1 in the US market. Have the race start at 1am EST. Make it make sense...
Fun…most ticket packages have been SLASHED BY 50% yesterday at certain locals
Not before time
@@KymIllman and.. time will tell.. I figure I’ll get the Wynn Paddock package for less than $1M. 🙏🙏😎😎
@@kendahl7922to watch a car zip by a second at a time. What a farce.
better stock up on speedlight batteries, mate!
This race has been a huge headache for Vegas, but it's gonna be awesome!
