I just got off of Icon last week. We found crew were very helpful when walking up to guest services and photo desks. While the app is very helpful it does glitch and they are ready to help. Icon is a reimagined ship and in my opinion if you’re used to “traditional” layouts or features,then you will either love the upgrades/ updates or struggle with them. This is my new favorite ship hands down.
Hi thank you for this review! I wasn't sure what you meant by get your seats an hour early, then leave for the bar and come back. How do you get your seats early, do you have a cruise employee scan your sea card that early? Or do you put your stuff down on seats?
I'm booked for September and the more I watch about this ship. It looks a bit overwhelming.It's only going to be my second cruise. My first one was on Grandeur, which I very much enjoyed. I'm positive I will enjoy myself but the more I watch I'm thinking I'm going to like the smaller ships better.
They used to open 90 days prior, but now it is closer to 45 days. We would recommend checking often as they could open without notice. Have you cruised with Royal before?
Gotta be 48 inches or taller to get on all the slides sucks my daughter is 46 inches. Also most of the entertainment happens mostly at the same time so you have to pick and choose to much in my opinion. I wish they would do more of the family events earlier like 3/4/5pm but no they start everything at 7ish. And you have to pick and choose

No cash is accepted on the ship. Everything is charged to the room key card. You can give your kids charging privileges. But we’re not sure if you can cap it. When are you sailing?

How do you get the 6:45pm formal dinner time on Deck 5? I have called Royal Caribbean twice and been told there is only the 5pm and 8pm seating times on Icon and that a 6:45pm dinner seating doesn't exist. I did confirm in a July 2024 cruise compass that there is indeed a 6:45pm seating on Deck 5. So how do you secure that seating selection time?
its via My time dining with reservation. You can queue in the no reservation line for my time dining (opens at 6:30/or if someone at first seating no shows in 30mins their table is given up.) or you can make reservation for my time.
Yes, the venue will state if it is an upcharge, or if at a casual restaurant like Basecamp, some menu items have a dollar amount next to them. We have a complete dining guide to the ship here on YT. When are you sailing on Icon?
You can bring anything to cabin. Just keep in mind that you can only order one drink at a time for any of the packages. You can order multiple, just has to be one by one.

Older people don't use "apps". The cruise lines may think they are being progressive or "streamlining" a process, but not being able to talk to a real person on my vacation is a negative for me. Having to go on a discovery trip to find unmarked resources on a big ship would be another "no" for me.
Lots of older people do. Your stubbornness and lack of capability doesn’t mean everyone else shares those failings. And Royal does have paper compasses and stuff available for the less capable
@@Eatsleepcruise1 Icon thing. In other ships they scale down portion size as people tend to order more than one entree/app. The apps stay same size but entree is scaled down to avoid food waste and to allow people to sample.
The food quality on icon is the best in the entire fleet and that’s per a royal Caribbean employee. We would agree with that. Our icon cruise three weeks ago had lobster tail for free three different days.
We just got off the icon yesterday and they did not have any laser tag. I read elsewhere that they had it initially but we checked with guest services and they said that they don't. Does anybody know what happened to laser tag?
Definitely NOT impressed with this ship. We just came back Dec. 7th and had MAJOR issues from the very first day to the last. I will NOT sail on ICON again.

Maybe you need to go the main dining and ask them a day before or many hours before?

You can bring any drink to your cabin. Your room steward will bring you glasses and ice IF you ask!

What was your price for a balcony per Day?
For our cruise it was about 4600 for two people for the week. So about 328 a person per day. What pricing are you seeing?
book through an agent. You pay about $1500/person for a 7 day trip.
I apologize if you mentioned this, but is THE KEY worth the $? We loved it on Harmony, but so many say no it is not worth the extra cost.
Great question. We have never spent the money on the keys as we don’t think it’s worth it, but we have not compared the benefits in a while.
Not worth it unless you can get it for 20-30 max. Not many benefits anymore and the ones you have are very restricted times.

Pretty sure coffee makers are not allowed in standard cabins. You should contact the cruise line to double check.
RCL provides free continental breakfast, which can include a pot of coffee, to all staterooms. Sky and Star class Suites have a coffee maker.
No coffee maker for the room, they have in Diamond/Royal Crown Lounge however or at the 24h cafe or in the suites.
Where is the smoking area on Icon?
The casino, and one side of the pool deck. We can't remember if it is starboard or portside.

I’m 68 and husband is 72. We’re sailing icon in Nov. I love the app and using all the “new ways” of doing things. ❤
My mom is 66 and uses apps. 😆 people need to learn to get with the times or fall behind.
