Mindvalley I think there should have been an emphasis on visceral fat, because you can look lean, but you could have the toxic visceral fat around your organs.

I'm removing everything in my life that gives me craving. I's the best decision I've made. It includes sugar, coffee.... really anything that I crave I now reject. I'm only invested in my passions: software, music, cinema, books, ideas. It's so good to feel free, because any craving ends up enslaving you. Satisfying cravings give you instantaneous joy, but at the cost of long-term satisfaction. And replacing cravings with dreams and ambitions, that gives you not just joy but true happiness.

I went on the JJ Virgin diet and it changed my life! I had ballooned to just over 265 lbs. (morbidly obese!) because I was eating anything and everything I wanted. I accidently found the JJ Virgin diet and thought I would give it a shot. What did I have to lose, right? I dropped to 219 lbs., so far! Before, I couldn't put my socks on without the help of a device. I was too fat to bend over! Now, I can put my socks on normally. Before, it was very painful to walk around the mall with my wife. My hips and back killed me! And I got worn out in no time! Now, I can walk as much as I like, and have the energy I never dreamed of! This diet is the real deal! I highly recommend it to everyone with any sort of weight or health issues!

Listen to her. Listen also to Dr. Pradip Jamnadas. For me he is the god of nutrition. It‘s all about your microbiome. Trillions of Bacteria live in our Body. Most of them in our gut. We must feed our Gut. You have to understand this. Eat ONLY Whole Food. Eat Fiber. Your Gut bacterias needs it. Eat fermented food. Eat Good Fats, eat moderate protein, eat less carbs and fructose. Maybe you have a Leaky Gut and insulinresistence, without knowing it. Listen to Dr. Pradip Jamnadas.

While checking all the comments, a fascinating finding is that people have more than 30 minutes to write down mean comments and argue with each other in the comments than watching the entire video. So what she didn't start to mention the 7 food until late, I bet she didn't know that this video is going to be named this way. We have so much time for a meaningless chat and killing boring time with viewing strangers' Instagram; but when it comes to health, we are so mean in giving some time listening to an expert. Even if you couldn't eliminate all the 7 food she mentioned, what about quitting some of them to start instead of leaving negative useless comments. Be grateful when people better than you are willing to share.

As someone who went from diabetic to pre diabetic in less than two weeks by following Dr Mark Hyman's 10 Day Detox, I can say she is at least in the same ballpark. The main thing is that fat is not the problem, carbs are. For those of us (and there are millions around the world) who have pre diabetes or diabetes, eliminating sugar and foods that spike sugar and insulin are the number one priority.
Eggs are not a problem, unless you are allergic, some types of dairy are not a problem, unless you are allergic. Fruit is a problem because it is processed as sugar. Fiber and micro nutrients aside, it is processed by the liver and pancreas as sugar. I have berries in very small amounts, and very dark (85% or higher) chocolate in very very small amounts, and not every day. I have a teaspoon or less of full fat cream (not creamer or half and half) in my occasional coffee. I cut out ALL grain based foods: flour, pasta, bread, rice, oats, quinoa, etc etc. No potatoes - white or sweet for the time being. No legumes - although they are high in protein they are processed as a starch and spike sugar.
If you don't have a problem with sugars, then you might be able to eat a broader range of foods, but for now, I consider myself glucose and carb intolerant.
And of course, exercise is very important - but do what you can - walk for 20 minutes a day, if possible - or do more.

I never have written a comment on any UA-cam video. This is my first. I saw your video by chance, thinking about foods and a healthy live. But the story of your son touched my heart. I had a similar experience months ago. My daughter went for a small procedure and two min into the procedure she coded. No oxygen, they did CPR and were doing it and trying to save her for nearly 20 min. Both her lungs collapse and her heart arrested. The doctors performed a tracheostomy and they were able to save her. Just like in your case before the operation I said good bye to my daughter, laughing and planning a Harry Potter marathon and ice cream during recovery, instead the next time I saw her she had no color and there were tubes coming out from everywhere. That image still hunts me. I don't think I will ever forget it as long as I live.
I remember the only thing I could touch or kiss were her feet, I will never look at her feet the same way as before. It was the only piece of her I could hug or touch or kiss. The doctors kept telling me she was too sick and she may not make it. They said either way she was without oxygen for nearly 20 min and that she would be changed and most likely deseable. You said you kept a picture in your head, and for me was the same way. I kept positive, I saw her playing her instrument and happy, laughing. I knew my daughter was going to be fine. I kept telling everyone she is going to come out of this. I didn't allowed one negative thought to cross my mind. I had faith. There were so many praying for her and sending all their love. And in nearly two weeks of delicate state she came back to us. She was herself! My child was there. She was not gone.
To this day the doctors can't explain what happened. How did she regain 100% function in her heart and her brain. Her heart was only functioning at about 15% and than at 100% within one day. My daughter is a miracle, while she is dealing with some issues from the event she is a regular teenager. I believe prayers and positive thinking goes together. If you ask God for help you have to believe it will happen. I don't think anyone really knows what goes on when you are sitting waiting for your son or daughter to come back, how the minutes and seconds stretch for ever. I never thought I would find someone that could relate to my experience and I thank you for sharing. It makes a difference, and I hope that parents that go through this horrible experience hear your story and read mine and find hope. Because hope makes all the difference in the world. Stay positive! Thank you.

Very true because the best I ever feel is when I'm on my low iodine diet for my thyroid cancer body scan. The first week has me ddyyiiinnng & by the 2nd week I feel terrific since I can't consume *any* dairy or dairy byproducts, no bread, low salt (basically zero junk food), no eggs, no chocolate. My skin feels and looks amazing, sleeping patterns are amazing and energy/focus through the roof. I've generally maintained this diet since my surgery two years ago. Unfortunately, I've eaten Mcds twice this month and haven't been eating properly, the brain fog is strong, difficulty staying asleep, stressed out. I need to get back on track.

Eat lots of macro greens and sprouted veggies because they are at their peak of nutrition in that stage. I buy organic salad sprout just add it to salads with lemon it's so good. I changed my mom's nutrition when she was fighting ovarian cancer and she looked amazing too. Be careful after each chemo because that raises your sugar levels and your cells will have less oxygen. I wish you the best.

Fat on your stomach usually tends to come from the worst most unhealthy fat driven by stress and a high carb and sugar diet. Fat on your thighs and butt usually tend to come from a toxic diet. That's what cellulite is, its toxins that your body packages up in fat and send AS FAR AWAY FROM VITAL ORGANS AS POSSIBLE. Hence why you get a build up of cellulite on legs and but first than triceps and ect. So cellulite is a detox issue! That fat in your stomach forms around your organs and is induced by stress, eating on the run, not breathing properly, and obviously not learning to relax and breathe.

i agree with everything except fruit. fresh whole fruit is NOT the same thing as processed fructose or any kind of processed sugars!! it's one of the new fads of the diet world: that fruit is in the same category as sugars. just like with fat and protein and complex carbs, it's not the macronutrient content that matters; it's the TYPE of fat or carb or protein. it's the difference between olive oil and margarine, or processed spam and grass fed, pastured meats, or white flour versus whole grains. and the science is there. studies have shown that adding fruit to a diabetic's diet (yes, even really sweet fruits like grapes) actually help stabilize the insulin response and blood sugar levels. fruit juice? yeah, stay away. but never fruit. the antioxidants alone (fruit, as a group has the highest of any food) are important for cell health and anti aging.

Fruit is ok in small amounts. But it is a sugar and whether you believe it or not, it spikes insulin. So while it may not be unhealthy, it is going to get in the way of progress for people looking to lose weight. I believe there is a time and amount for fruit consumption but late in the day would not be good.

I am not a nutritionist but I have carefully watched my diet over years and was suspicious of these foods too because I had noticed they had an effect on me like you said. I am glad I found and watched your video as it has made me realise I was probably on the right track. Thanks for making it. The difficulty with cutting these foods out is that we need to train ourself to buy alternatives as these foods are everywhere and it’s quite difficult to cut them out completely. A couple of years ago I did cut these out and in 18 months I lost a lot of weight and it did dramatically affect me as you said ( my jut was less bloated) but I did gradually introduce them again thinking that was ok. My gut issues returned and so did the weight. Your video has made me realise I need to get back to that and try hard to think of foods I should buy so I have a large readily available list of foods in the house upon which to create meals from. Many thanks again. I look forward to it. Bernie

Kathy Young - to add to your comment, I find it most annoying whenever I see anyone call gluten-free eating a “fad diet”. There are a couple of other medical conditions that are improved by a GF diet. One is Ankylosing Spondylitis and I have another - Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

    • @kathyyoung1774

For some people it is a fad diet, but not for those like my grandson and my best friend, both of whom have Celiac Disease. Nor for people allergic to wheat or with conditions that make them sensitive to gluten. Many people who don't have Celiac Disease react to gluten. But you know how it is. People love to Judge when they need to mind their own business, right? I feel for you. It's hard to avoid gluten. Our whole family does.

I used to think whole foods were too expensive.. While I was also allocating those same dollars to fast food, prepared food, restaurant meals, alcohol, laxatives, pain medication, and other over the counter remedies for the problems my foods caused.
And with all the time I used to spend finding the bakery for this and the best pizza joint for that and the latte here and sandwich there... Getting 1/8 of a grass-fed cow from the farmer is pretty efficient.

The seven foods that Ms. Virgin mentioned are ALL acid forming. The meal prep is based on that and the G.I. (glycemic index) research which is the sugar load contained in different foods. The habit of eating too much sugar laden foods has turned the body into a machine that burns sugar instead of fat. The reason disease is so rampant around the globe these days is because people ignore the alkaline balance that the body must have to keep itself in health. Instead, the majority have entrusted their health to crooked manufacturers of processed food as well as indulged themselves in an imbalance of acid forming foods. Meat and their bi-products are all acid: lunch meat (cancer causing nitrates), butter, eggs, cheese, yogurt, organ meats, ALL acid with hardly a scrap of nutrition in any of it. The Keto diet is based on animal fat, meat and its bi-products. Look up the list of alkaline and acid foods and get recipe books at library. You won't feel like your missing a thing once you get used to eating the way God told us to eat and feeling the balance that's been missing in your healthy brain and body.

I agree with some here. The kind of sugar makes a difference. Also, if comparing to the normal food diet (with additives, hormones, etc.) one should follow this diet. But for many things, it is not that the body naturally has a reaction against the food, but that it is that a body with toxicity has a reaction from the foods. Keeping your body detoxed is one way to alleviate food reactions / allergies. That being said, doesn't mean that you can/should eat and process crappy food more, only that one may accelerate health in a better way with a little bit of practicality of living in a toxic world. Reducing toxicity will allow a greater feeling of what you should eat and though you may eat some "normal" diet, you know that barring some indigestion, you body will be able to handle it.

Glad to see this information getting out there. It's something that has to be experienced to believe and adhere to. I tried the Ketogenic diet as a 30 day experiment in July and I'm now 6 months fat-adapted with zero sugar in my diet regularly. I truly can't express how much this has changed my gut health, mental and physical fatigue, mood, sex drive, skin, energy, etc. Not saying a KETO diet is the answer for everyone but LESS PROCESSED FOOD, LESS SUGAR and MORE FAT is the answer for 90% of the people out there. Trust me, I've tried it all.
Give it a shot for 30 days. I didn't realize how addicted I was to sugar until I removed it from my life.

I like her. Intermittent fasting really helped me to break that spell of cravings. I highly recommend it to anyone who is in this hangry mindset. Also, I am vegan and eat relatively high carb but I try to avoid bread/pasta.

Lucreziia there is no working garmut for overeating, though, it is a relative thing - that makes this "essential fact" so anti-genius. Eating "disorders" aren't existing, just people of different types not eating accordingly.

People overeat because they're on an acid, instead of an alkaline diet. That and eating high G.I. (glycemic index) foods loaded with sugar-which is acid. So people are starving because of the lack of nutrition in the majority of acid forming foods. Processed foods are acid. Meat and all meat products are acid -dairy, butter, cheese, lunch meat, eggs... Did you know most cancer's feed on sugar (acid)? Have you considered the meal plans set up in hospital's around the world? Take a look at what is being fed to the children (and their families) at St. Jude's Hospital "for free"! The 7 foods Ms. Virgin mentioned are ALL acid forming foods so they are a cause for the body to lose its balanced state of alkaline and move into a diseased state of acid...which is the cause of inflammation, chronic disease of the brain and body. Eating acid forming foods NEVER satisfy. Alkaline foods are loaded with nutrition and satiety is easily reached. Our country, with its crooked manufacturer's and processed, acid laden foods have caused a crisis in the health field. Stop supporting the thieves, liars and deceivers.

Good question. In other videos she, and many other "functional" medical doctors, talk about the importance of green vegetables, then multi-colored vegetables (light on the starchy ones), then nutritionally dense fruit (mostly berries), then healthy fats (nuts, avocados, wild caught fatty fish like salmon & mackerel). You can make breads and desserts using plant-based flours (almond, coconut, tapioca, etc.- Bob's Red Mills brand makes great vegan flours) and dates or Stevia for sweetener. You can have excellent nut and other plant-based milks, Milkadamia is awesome, milk made from creamy, delicious macadamia nuts! Look for SO DELICIOUS Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert made with Coconut Milk (or low sugar ice creams made with nut milks) or make your own.
A fast, easy dinner is to take a bag of stir fry veggies (in produce section) and a bag of cauliflower rice (fresh in produce section if possible, or frozen section if not) and stir fry them together in lots of coconut oil (cook them twice as long as the instructions say to get them more crispy) -- and tada! healthy stir fry rice that won't make you sick later. Lots of coconut oil is important because you need healthy fats to not feel hungry. Don't use soy sauce, use coconut amino sauces (www.walmart.com/ip/Coconut-Secret-Bundle-Teriyaki-Sauce-Garlic-Sauce-and-Aminos-BUNDLE/131109069?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=4835&adid=22222222227058643461&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=162962570826&wl4=pla-270171377720&wl5=9004338&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=113842157&wl11=online&wl12=131109069&wl13=&veh=sem).
You WILL spend more time cooking, no way around that. You have to cook. But, you will eat better and feel SO MUCH better!

There are so many diet hacks advocated. Each person is unique, most people will continue to eat unhealthily even given this talk. When I told my doctor I was giving up caffeine, dairy, gluten, wheat, sugar to deal with fatigue, she said no one can keep that sort of diet going & to not even try. She wanted me to take ‘antidepressants’ not because I was depressed, but because they help eliminate fatigue. What kind of support system is that? Doctors have very little nutritional training. She had no idea how to deal with my issue. It would have been more honest to say she didn’t know. I like it that Alisa says you have to be the CEO of your health. I visited a nutritionist next and she put me on the right track for my body. I also have done the research on anything anyone has ever said about diet and my health. It underpins your life, it’s too important not to take charge.

I'm a nutritionist, never heard of that concept. You can certainly crave foods you are intolerant to, but I've not heard the cravings being caused directly by immune response in food allergies. In intolerances, there is often minimal immune response in comparison to an allergy. And she talks a lot about gluten and intestinal permeability - research shows zonulin in gluten CAN weaken gap junctions temporarily but there is no evidence that gap junctions that separate slightly more allows particles to enter circulation or mount an immune response. It can happen but more in severe cases of leaky gut which wpuld have many factors. There's no evidence this is a major issue for whole population

Oh boy! I relate very strongly to what JJ is talking about! JJ's presentation and information is first rate! I have 20+ Food Intolerances and I am struggling to find a good, nutritious diet? I am approaching my 59 birthday and up until a year or so ago, I had never any issues with my weight... (that was always someone's issue!) But since last December I believe I have put on about 24 lbs! I don't think I am eating any differently? I invested in a Masticating Slow Juicer and have been trying to get into juicing vegetables on a regular basis - as often as I can, but my work commitments make it very difficult indeed. I'm a self-employed Pet Minder and I walk the best part of the day, every day. I am single and I live alone so everything is down to me; organising my domestic, business and social routines. I'm not looking for sympathy, just some ideas and guidance that may help me get my life and body back in shape.

So I did all this, lost 18 lbs in 2 months, then started the keto.. Gained weight, stomach pains. Then my hair started falling out. And I fell into a depression and skin got terribly dry and pealing! Now I don't know what to do. Need to reduce another 40 lbs.

Captivating video. I admire JJ's determination, how she coped when her son was in hospital. I found when mum was in hospital; times I was not there something terrible often happened. It was a living nightmare. I like JJ's simple swap method, and food and drink suggestions. I have always fell down on losing weight; Think diet, think food, think food eat more whoo? Maybe it would be ok if I eat the right food. Lovely lady! X

The most important things she didn't say: Stop eating GMO food, farmed fish including salmon, stop drinkng fluoride water. I'm sure most people have no idea why... so just look it up if you really care about your health. There is nothing wrong with food only when people modifying it, farming it and put flouride in it...if people would know what is even flouride they would not drink water again unless if they are poor or very stupid.
