    Great video. You did an excellent job of explaining things and helping us new to DVC work our way around it. We did a tour back in 2017 and didn't take the plunge. But, even with living so close it's becoming something that we really want to be a part of. This video does help us with some things. Thank you guys!

      If you're purchasing a contract direct from Disney, you can request whatever Use Year you'd like. If it's at a resort that isn't sold out yet (currently Riviera, Copper Creek, and Aulani) then it's likely they can accommodate your request. With sold out resorts availability for a specific UY may be limited, but they can usually make something work for you.
      If you're buying resale, the UY is part of the contract just like the Home Resort and number of points, so it can't be changed.

    Thank you this answered a lot of questions I had. Can you buy resale contracts direct from Disney?

    • @HereWithTheEars
      @HereWithTheEars  3 роки тому +1

      In a way, yes. I'm working on a video to explain all this, but I'll attempt some of it here.
      Disney defines a "resale" contract as one sold from one owner to another. Those resale contracts come with certain restrictions.
      Disney always has the "Right of First Refusal" on contract sales, so they can step in and purchase any contract that's available for sale from an existing owner. When they exercise that right, they then have that contract back that they can "resell" to a new member directly, or as an add-on to an existing member. These "used" contracts directly from Disney are *not* considered "resell" and have no restrictions because they are a "direct" purchase.
      If you're looking to purchase an old resort from Disney directly, they refer to them as "sold out resorts." So if you ask for a contract at Animal Kingdom Villas, they could only sell you one if they've purchased it back with the ROFR, because the resort is long sold out and they have no "new" points to sell.
      Hope that all makes sense! We'll go in depth on this in another video soon 😃

    • @HereWithTheEars
      @HereWithTheEars  3 роки тому +2

      Yes you can! Example: You have a June UY and want to travel in August 2022. You can bank 100 from June 2021, use 100 from June 2022 (the current year at travel time), and borrow 50 from June 2023, giving you a total of 250 to use 😊

    Don’t buy for PERKS they change!!! You can save thousands of dollars buying on the resale market. The lounge Epcot isn’t that great, the member parties are fantastic, but if you save $14,000 buying resale versus direct you can afford to go to 2 after hours events per year for the life of your contract. 😎🌴
    I obviously do not work for Disney 😂😎🌴👍.
    If you buy direct that’s great, just don’t do it for the perks because they are not guaranteed and they do change. 😎🌴

    • @HereWithTheEars
      @HereWithTheEars  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks 😊 DVC often has incentives (discounts) for those that purchase a minimum number of points (usually 150). The savings are tiered with larger point purchases getting larger discount. I'm not aware of any specific international incentives, but the general ones should apply.

    So a question. I had family who bought DVC I remember talking to him and he would at the spur of the moment get into his home resort. The 11 and 7 month window does that now prevent someone if a room is available from saying....I want to spend a weekend at a resort to just lay his points down on a sweet room at the drop of a hat?
    Or did I misunderstand the window and you can book anytime 11 or 7 months and sooner (like next weekend if I wanted to)

    • @HereWithTheEars
      @HereWithTheEars  Рік тому

      The booking windows are when you can first book a room, but as long as there’s availability, you can book any time after that. The extra time just gives you an advantage if there’s somewhere you know you want to stay and you can book before others. But yes, even up to a day before, if there’s availability at a resort, you can book it 😊

    • @HereWithTheEars
      @HereWithTheEars  2 роки тому

      No. You can book any time of the year. Your “Use Year” is when your points expire unless you have used them or banked them for the following year. There are 2 costs involved for DVC: the initial loan and your dues. Once the loan is paid off, the dues are all that remain for the rest of the contract. You still have to book a stay in order to use your points unless you have purchased a fixed-week contract.
      I’d recommend rewatching this video to better understand, and then possibly watch our video on DVC Use Year Explained.

  • @MainStreetMcgreevys
    @MainStreetMcgreevys 3 роки тому +1

    This is a random question... I know the "minimum" buy in is currently 125 points... BUT. IF they were to sell me a contract that is only 100 points, would I still get a blue card? Or do you have to purchase the full 125 to get the blue card?

    • @HereWithTheEars
      @HereWithTheEars  3 роки тому +1

      The minimum number of direct points to get the blue card is 125 for new members. But you are allowed purchase as little as 100 in your first contract if you'd like, but you won't get the blue card until you buy at least 25 more points. Once you're a member, you can add on as little as 50 points if you're financing, or 25 if you're paying outright (except at Riviera or Copper Creek - their minimum is always 50).

    • @HereWithTheEars
      @HereWithTheEars  2 роки тому

      That's a great question I'll have to cover in depth on another video. Ultimately there's no foolproof way since anyone could impersonate another individual online with some effort. But you can check the Orange County comptroller website (if they own at a WDW resort - other resorts check their respective comptroller) and do a search for their name to verify that they at least purchased where they said they own. Also definitely ask for a few references if you're unfamiliar with the individual and they don't have a reputation in the FB group already.

    • @HereWithTheEars

      Then keeping your membership would be quite expensive. Dues are capped at a maximum 15% annual increase contractually, so it would take the max increase 19 years in a row to hit $100. But considering the average annual dues increase has historically been ~5%, it would take around 52 years for dues to hit $100 per point (at Riviera), assuming that 5% average continues.
