Mine is still kicking on 14 years later.. They're rough starter motors. But mine has always had a high cca battery. People put crappy, low cca batteries in, hence why they won't last. My Mum had a Calais that did 12-13 years before it failed. But for about 2-3 years, at least, it was slow to crank. As the previous owners had obviously left it for a while, and the battery would have gotten flat and caused a bit of damage to the starter. But as for the changing them, on the LLT motor, you will have to drop the exhaust down a bit to get to it.
