The little rasp and choking up as you hear "I know..." followed by the confident and powerful, "but I am your monster, no longer". Just perfect dialogue and acting.
There's an interview Christopher Judge did and they show the motion capturing. He said he channeled a lot of hurt for that scene and you can see it as he sheds a couple tears. Look it up.
Hello, NoClu! I hope everything is well. I know a "religious" comment doesn't quite fit in a video about games, and honestly, my intention is not to bother anyone. But I felt that I should say this... Jesus loves you! As soon as I entered this video, this message was on my heart. Matthew 18:11 For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost. For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost. Other than that, I wish everyone a great day, and may there always be peace and love for all.
@@andystewart3421Story wise heck yeah. Not gameplay wise.I would rather play as a God killer who doesn’t hold back at all, than a holding back Kratos who struggles to kill simple enemies
Notice how the camera pans in on the blades of chaos when she says "you will always be a monster." This is a clear sign of Kratos accepting that he will always be a monster, but is now only a monster to protect his son. EDIT: I JUST now noticed that whenever Kratos is about to say "but I am your monster no longer", the camera pans right back to Athena with Kratos right at the front. I know the directors don't do this unintentionally for both cinematic purposes and different points of symbolism.
I absolutely love the relationship between Kratos and the blades. They are rugged and unloved. They look like petrified relics. Kratos keeps them as he knows their value as weapons. He however does not value them outside of combat. One of my favourite scenes is a short clip from the 2nd game. Kratos goes to his chamber to rest. And the first thing he does is just drop the blades on the floor. Let go like trash. Then, when it came to the axe, he carefully placed it near him, bedside. One is a memory of the destruction of his old family, while the other is a memory of the strength in his current family.
They prolly look so bad because of how badly he wanted them gone, I wonder why whenever he tries to get rid of them they "come back" I wonder what ares did that make them do that
Kratos doesn't keep them bc "he knows their value as a weapon" literally, every time that Kratos wanted to get rid of them, they just would suddenly spawn around him, the only reason that they didn't follow him trough the game is that the blades didn't feel that Kratos was running away from them like other times, they were resting in his house, place that Kratos would come back eventually.
@hailpolilla6578 not in the sense of keeping them for centuries. Once he came out of Hel, he had no true reason to keep them (outside of gameplay reasons). Could've placed them back in the dugout, but instead he kept them on his person
Then I wonder what he thinks of the spear. I believe the spear is the product of his transformation into a ruthless and violent warmonger during his time in Greece to now an admired, respected and compassionate leader in midgard.
Kratos doesn't keep the Blade of Chaos for that reason. He can't dispose of them despite being his owner after killing Ares, only remove and put the Blades when he liked it or needed. He did tried it on the comics that serves as the link between the Greek and the Norse saga, back when he was on Egypt without any idea of what to do after killing the Olympians and the Blades continue to return to him. Kratos possibly used the Blades of Chaos on the Norse realms until Faye gave him the Leviathan Axe and if it wasn't by Thor's sons,he would have never used the Blades again. (And yes, despite it seem that Kratos loose forever the Blades of Chaos once Ares forcefully removed the Blades after the second phase of the battle,Kratos gained the Blades back offscreen when he became God of War. He didn't use them again because it was the Weapon he used to kill his first family and because the Blades of Athena were far better and a gift from the Goddess,so he used her Blades rather his own for respect until God of War 2)

While this game gives tutorials for every combat mechanic and gameplay feature, in this chapter there are no tutorials on how to use Chaos Blades. I think it was a great tribute to players who played the original trilogy.
My wife watched me play this scene and she knew I was a GOW fan....she expected me to be hyped to get the Blades of Chaos..........but i was silent and tearful....I understood Kratos....to save my family I would gladly become a monster........The rebinding of the the chains was not a moment of being ready for battle.....its a reminder if what lengths a father would go to if it ment saving his family
I really don't feel like "he is back" ...he is the same, methodic, calm and smart person, he just got the old blades, he is angry and have his old ways, of course, but is in self defense, if they did not attack him, he would not do it either...He even forgives modi because "He was beaten" 😂The old kratos was a TRUE FUCKING MONSTER who kills with out thinking or having compassion, killing for himself, brutally and merciless, the old kratos would kill freya at the end of the game, no 2nd thoughs, no "go away" he just do it cuz they are a threat to his live and his son. The true ghost of sparta. I LOVE new kratos, but for me, there is no comparisson with the guy who killed the whole greek pantheon, just because they said "NO"
Well weither you didn't follow the original games weither you didn't get it but let me explain. First of all, what you said is ALL true, yes Kratos was that kind of person. However the all lesson of the original games are that kratos acts gave him consequences. He killed almost every greek's gods, and followed their path to atrocity and crualty which ended him seeing everyone he loved disappear forever from him. He ended up killing the one he loves with his own hand and being manipulated and lied to by the people he trusted the most. Kratos couldn't do anything but learn from his past mistakes. That's what makes him a great character, and a great reborn. He is Kratos, but not the same. His past is real, if he would have staid the same, we would all know the entire game, I could tell you he would have been trying to kill Thor and Odin way before they reach his door. Maybe he'll do new mistakes, maybe he'll find a better way. Maybe he'll find out that no way is better than any other. Maybe he'll die... once for all.
Okay, why would Greek Kratos kill Freya? On 2018, she did nothing to him. Plus, Greek Kratos is only how he is cuz of Ares and then Zeus. Why would he be angry now?

His creator hates the new kratos, because he became a nice person. And i think this scene represents what i feel about this.
Kratos and the audience grew up, David Jaffe didn't

Character growth is good IMO
This honestly adds a whole new depth to this scene
I came here to say the same exact thing
👏

Interesting take
I love how he looks at his arms too, as he remembers how the blades were seared to his flesh
Yeah as soon as he even touches the blades he starts shaking in anger.@@Zackarymcq

Such a cool moment!

This game had so much more atmosphere then gowr, I played it like 5 times.
Because Cory balrog cooked it
If I ever had to make a full on rage team, Kratos and Guts from Berserk would be top of the list.
Don't forget Asura, he's all the way up there as well
And doom slayer
Let's not forget Broly
The Kratos, Guts, Mike Tyson arc is strikingly similar.

Good thinking the feds wont look under there.
Hahaha
you cannot change you will always be a monster i know

true .. he has matured.. but that beast inside of him that was kinda dormant is now definitely awake and ready... but yes he has become more moral..
To be fair old kratos wouldnt kill anyone if he was just left alone
Well weither you didn't follow the original games weither you didn't get it but let me explain.
